“LOVE PLAYA GRANDE”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 1, 2012

I was fortunate enough to visit my friend at Playa Grande for the second year in a row. She has made many friends during her years as an owner at Playa Grande, and now I have developed relationships with some of these people! The cleanliness of the public areas and the rooms is incredible. Your staff do an amazing job! I have to know, what is the scent you use in the lobby? It is simply wonderful and very relaxing! (I would love to use it in my home!)
I like Playa Grande's location, very private yet very close to many options for dining and drinking. This is a wonderful resort! I hope to visit again next year!

We stayed at Playa Grande last week and had a fantastic time. Was completely prepared to be bombarded by time share sales persons but just let them know that we were not interested and they completely backed off. So not sure why so many say it was so difficult. The location is amazing as you can walk down the beach, walk over an area on the rocks (a little slippery with sand on rock) to Divorce and Lover's beach. It is also a very easy walk down to centro (Miguel Hidalgo street has great restaurants, but are a bit pricier) and the Marina. We had a 1bdrm and it was huge, had a substantial kitchen and two bathrooms! The main pool is really crowded and yes there was an issue of getting a chair as many people do place their towels down and don't use them, a bit rude and a bit of a bummer. The most impressive was the Ridge, beautiful pools, sunsets and hottubs. The happy hour is also great as the cerveza were very reasonably priced! You cannot swim at this beach which is worth mentioning for the snorkelers, but if you just walk to the end and climb over the hill you can snorkel at lover's beach. Beware that when the cruise ships are in it is VERY busy there. The beach at the hotel is however quite stunning and private. All in all I would most definitely go back to Playa Grande. And to any ney sayers, I just have to ask where have you been, seriously? thank you Play Grande for a wonderful trip!

From Whistler BC

Room Tip: Go into the Ridge if you can!

Very nice resort that we have been visiting for many years. Unfortunately, this year they allowed guests and visitors to make excessive noise around the pool area after midnight. Woke my wife up many nights. Also be careful of the desk clerks when checking out. They tried to rip us off this year by not allowing a credit voucher.

We stayed at the Playa Grande in Cabo and had a great time. The people here are wonderful. Definately eat at the Brigitine resturant. They will take great care of you and the food is great. I wouldn't get the all inclusive because Cabo has great restaurants and you don't want to miss them.

Room Tip: ask for a room with waterview of the ocean

After comparing several places through trip Advisor and RCI we chose Playa Grande for our first romantic trip to Cabo.
After reading nearly every review we were prepared for the nagging timeshare sales people and pool towel wars. However, upon our arrival we were pleasantly surprised! The check in process went smoothly and we were given a few room options after expressing disappointment with our second floor room. Once we were directed to get our “towel cards” the salesperson asked if I was old enough to drink. I told her I was only 23 and my boyfriend was 24. After realizing we didn’t qualify for timeshare ownership we were left alone for the rest of our trip! We ended up sticking with the second floor and did not regret it! We were placed in building D room 1142. From our balcony you could see all three pools as well as the ocean. It was such a quick walk to anywhere in the resort it made it very easy to go back and forth for snacks/drinks during the day.
We stayed in a one bedroom suite which had two huge bathrooms, a large living area/kitchen, pull out sofa that sleeps 2, and two sizeable balconies.
We chose to forgo the all-inclusive and instead bought groceries from Walmart to make lunch and breakfast each day, then headed out to the Marina for dinner. We had great meals in town at The Office and unforgettable rainbow shots at Rip’s. Food at the pool was good and the drinks were so-so (we always thought they could be stronger, but who doesn’t!).
Mexican Fiesta night was a blast and reasonably priced considering it was all you could eat/drink. The entertainment was great and we were laughing all night!
We found that reserving a pool chair wasn’t nearly as competitive as we had anticipated. We were up by 7:30 each day and usually placed our towels on a chair by 8:00 AM. We were able to see the pools from our balcony and most days the chairs didn’t fill up until about 9:30. We brought our own bright beach towels from home so that our regular pool towels wouldn’t just get thrown to the side. We did witness a few altercations during the week, but for the most part there weren’t any issues.
The beach is absolutely amazing and so serene. We were out their several mornings when there weren’t more than 5 people in sight. We hiked over the rocks to lover’s beach and it was such a fun experience! A little scary in some parts but as long as you have tennis shoes or aqua socks you are ok.
All in all we have nothing but great things to say about the Playa Grande and we are already trying to plan our next trip back!

Room Tip: Closest to the beach/pools are better since the Lobby and the Ridge are very far from anything else...

We hosted a few family members in a 2 bedroom condo at the Playa Grande Resort. We enjoyed the condo, the space was perfect for our group of 5 - kitchen was well equipped for us to prepare a few meals in while we were there.

We stopped at the WalMart to purchase groceries when we arrived. The Walmart is overpriced! On our second grocery store run, we went in to San Lucas to the grocery store where the "locals" shop and got MUCH better prices there. So think about that in advance when getting groceries!

There isn't really an area to enter the beach at this resort. So plan on getting wet at the pool. The beach sand area is used mostly for events and photo opportunities. Pools were nice though.

Our only complaint was the walking in the resort. Its a huge resort and getting around was difficult for our senior guest. There's quite a few hills and some areas are accessible via elevator or stair access only.

The fitness room was great and they had some good exercise class offerings. Enjoyed the Zumba class.

Room Tip: Our room was across from the Aquatic Center so we were able to daily watch the shows without actuall...
