We stayed at the Pueblo Bonito Sunset Beach resort from April 24 to May 1. What a wonderful experience! The food was excellent in all the restaurants including the pool bar. The rooms were spotless, mopped and cleaned every morning. The featherbeds were comfortable and the service staff came within 5 minutes of being called with pillows, fresh towels, and room service when needed. The timeshare people did bother you at first but when we asked them to leave us alone, they respected our request and never bothered us again.

We loved the concept of the golf carts. We never waited more than 2 minutes. We did walk down to the main hotel in the mornings but did not attempt the walk back up.

The shuttle service to the sister hotel was a bonus. Free transportation to the hotel where you could walk a short distance to town. They also had a great beach.

So much to do in town. A short taxi ride, approximately $8.00, was worth the trip. Great food in town also. Nightclubs were hopping but it was a younger crowd. Worth experiencing though.

I would highly recommend this trip. Can't wait to go back!

This resort has beauriful views throughout. The staff is very freindly and helpful. Our room was clean and very accessible to the pools and eating areas. I felt the drinks were expensive, and at times difficult to get if the pool was busy. The Seafood buffet was overpriced for 4 shrimp, but it was tasty. We also went to the Hotel Pacifica to lay in the pool. This pool was beautiful and also had great staff. Again, food and drinks are expensive. The vans are easy to get and a great help to get you to town. I felt the mattress was in need of being changed. Too soft and difficult to sleep in. The wind in the afternoon gets tiresome. Overall, it was a great vacation and I would definetly return to this place.

This is physically a very nice resort. Very well cared-for and clean. The people who staff the hotel are sweet and very willing. However, a sense of timeliness and urgency is not i n the vocabulary of the people who work at the hotel. It took repeated phonecalls to get extra towels, extra pillows, etc. As well, the construction of the hotel must be pretty cheap because we heard and felt every movement, noise, from the people upstairs--people who were quiet enough at night but then up early and loudly at 7 in the morning. We told the hotel staff who tried to resolve things, I guess, but the people they sent to address the issue must have been pretty passive; the noise did not abate, morning after morning. You can eliminate the noise overhead by insisting on a room on the uppermost floor.

The people in the deli were oh-so-accommodating. We needed a custom cake for my daughter's birthday, and they came through in a big way--beautiful and delicious cake (mocha and chocolate, ringed by fresh raspberries).

The only insufferable element in the hotel is, predictably, the timeshare staff. They can be downright nasty not only if you refuse to purchase on of the timeshares but also nasty about giving you the promised coupons, etc.

One last piece of info: beware of the vendors along the beach, particularly along the beachfront in front of the Puerto Bonito Rose property; the jetski outfit tried to stick us with a repair charge. We didn't fall for it, but we met plenty of people who had been stiffed for non-existent damage to their rented jet skis.

The food was okay in the hotel; certainly, wholesome enough, but the better food is to be found in downtown Cabo.

We just returned from Sunset Beach and have mixed feelings about the locale in general. Cabo is basically a desert that runs up to the ocean. It is completely without trees and not nearly as beautiful as other tropical locations such as Hawaii. The climate is very warm but quite comfortable with the breezes blowing in off the Pacific. However, you feel somewhat constrained because, despite the hotel's wonderful beach, you can't swim in the Pacific Ocean due to the dangerous riptides. You have to take the hotel's shuttle to one of their sister hotels in town to use the beach on the Sea of Cortez side. However, all the amenities are available to you just as if you were a guest at one of the other hotels. Surprisingly, the food at Sunset Beach is very good, and generally much better than at even the more popular restaurants in town such as Pancho's. The prices are not bad and because they have their own water purification system, I would imagine the chances of getting food poisining are greatly reduced by eating on the hotel grounds. Aside from not being able to swim in the ocean, the other drawbacks to this hotel are: 1) the gas powered golf carts that run around endlessly transporting the guests from one part of the grounds to the other (the slope makes this a necessity for many guests), which cause somewhat of a constant gas odor; 2) the floors of the rooms are all either tile or marble and are only swept but not mopped by the cleaning crews, which means your bare feet turn gray just from walking from the bedroom to the bathroom; 3) the mattresses are very uncomfortable and usually give you a stiff or sore back; 4) the need of the time share representatives to try and pursuade you to purchase a unit. The positives pretty much fall in line with what you would expect from an expensive resort: very friendly and courteous workers; staff that is able to communicate with you clearly; large spacious suites with ample bathrooms and closets; a peaceful setting away from the madding crowds and ruckus of downtown Cabo; and lastly, good food from the deli, bistro and restaurants.

We have been coming to Sunset Beach since it opened and each visit it just gets better. The employees are happy and helpful and always there to assist you in any need. The facilities are prestine and immaculately kept.
There are activities available for people who want to be busy, yet for those who want to relax it is peaceful and serene.
The pools are kept at 84 degrees and if you want to be away from the children, there are pools available that are quiet and have spectacular views of the Pacific.
We cannot think of anything we would change about this resort. It is perfect for just about every vacation need.

For refrence my wife and I typically like to stay (when possible) at Westin's, W's, Park Hyatt, Four Seasons -ish hotels...

Just got back from 2 nights at the Sunset Beach, after 2 at the Westin (didn't like Westin) and 7 at the Pueblo Bonito Pacifica (loved it, highly recommended).

We loved the Sunset Beach, great grounds, many pools, great room and food. A smile was put on our face when we stepped foot in the Sunset Beach after to average nights at the Westin.

Also check out the Pacifica - which is right next (relatively, not very walkable, but that's just fine) to the Sunset Beach... Pueblo Bonito is doing some very good things!

A great place, can't wait to go back.
