My husband and I recently returned home after spending 2 weeks at this resort. While some areas definately need improvement and / or updating, we still very much enjoyed our stay and we look for to our trip back again next year. We stay in a Junior Suite and while they are modestly furnished and in need of new furniture and an overall upating, the room was very clean and well kept. Daily housekeeping was very good. We prefer to stay in building 26 or 27 as there is great whale watching from this building. We enjoy spending our days at pool 26. Omar is in charge of the pool area and makes every day a good day for anyone who spends time here. He is friendly, efficient and very personable. On Omar's day off, Fidencio fills in and also does a great job. It's a great place to spend a sunny, quiet, and relaxing day. The Happy Hour's are great. Try out the Omar special sometime at this pool too! In the evening we enjoy spending our time at the marina, downtown Cabo, or one of the restaurants at the resort. The two Happy Hours in the evening at the resort are also a fun way to relax and meet new people. This a a fun place to stay and by making a few changes it will be an even better place to stay.

My husband and I just returned from this resort on February 9, 2013, after spending a week there. It is a beautiful resort set up on a hill overlooking the Pacific Ocean. We only used one of the pools every day. We did venture down to the main pool one day and found it too croweded. No seats were available there. The sky pool is very beautiful, but quite lively. The Sky pool has a magnificient view of the sunset and everything else for that matter.

We had no complaints about our room. It was lovely and large. We had an executive suite, which had 2 full bathrooms. The bed was very comfortable.

We purchased the all inclusive plan because we aren't very adventuresome with going into town to eat. The food was very good at The Bistro. The pizza was mediocre though. The lunches at the pool bars were very good. Try the Bella Linda Salad. Quite tasty. The plan was not too expensive. We drank a lot of frozen and mixed drinks and beer that week so it was good for us. We didn't have to wait for happy hour to enjoy our beverages. It was nice to just go to the restaurants and try new things without worrying about the cost. The food seemed very pricey if you paid al a carte. (breakfast bagel and cream cheese was around $8.00.)

The view from our balacony was great. We sat and watched whales morning and evening every day. That was a real treat.

The golf carts were ok. We stayed at the Luxxe in Playa del Carmen last year and they do the same thing. I guess we didn't get much exercise last week. The carts are a pretty good plan for transportation there.

We like to go into the ocean, so we probably won't go back just for that reason only. Overall the resort was beautiful and we had a great time. The service in the restaurants is a little slow, but we chalked it up to the slower lifestyle in Mexico.

Pueblo Bonito Sunset Beach is in a very picturesque setting, on the side of a mountain overlooking the Pacific Ocean. We had a 1 br 2 bath with views of the ocean from our terrazza. We saw whales swimming etc right out our door. The suite was spacious and marble floored. The kitchenette was small and the appliances a little worn. To get around the resort you either had to use their golf cart system, or walk/climb. From our building to the roadway to the adult pool, I counted 93 stairs, and that's only part way up. It was a similar hike down to the beach. The beach was wide and was a good hike especially to the east. While the food services we tried were good, they were not spectacular, and seriously over-priced. You're somewhat captive when you're there. Speaking of which, P.B. does provide a free shuttle to one of their 2 downtown beach resorts, P.B. Rosa. From there it is a good hike to downtown Cabo and the Marina. And then, there was the time share presentation, which stretched into close to 3 hrs even though advertised as 90 minutes. Too much pressure and too much of my vacation time wasted. The staff were all very polite and helpful, but all in all, if I had the choice again, I would not return to this resort.

Room Tip: We were in building 10, and it served our purposes fine.

Timeshare owner since 2008, was scared to return this year based upon recent reviews. Pleased to see that most of the issues noted in the negative reviews of late were not problems. Improvement opportunties are; They do need to fix the main pool hydro area and the hot tubs, jets are weak except for the bottom/middle which is a waste. There are a few areas in the resort with normal wear and tear that need to be fixed. Water aerobics were way too "light", used to get a decent work out doing them. They no longer provide coffee in the room or robes. I think for timeshare owners who SSB is their primary location that these ammenities should be provided as they were when we purchased. Did not do the all-inclusive so no comment. Personally I wish they had not opted for going AI, I much prefer the regular restaurants, menu's and service levels. There are fewer golf carts than in past years, but only had one very long wait. They seem to change the rules each time we come, I wish they would publish changes so we can be aware. Shuttles to Rose fill up fast, book the night before if you want an early one (changed item).
Positives; grounds remain beautiful and we were not approached other than at check about attending owners update meeting. Very responsive housekeeping for additional towels/pillows. Rooms were clean and furnishings in good condition. Thankfully we did get a suite location in the area we requested. Our guests were very impressed with the resort/accomodations and just loved it there.
Bottom line - we thoroughly enjoyed our time at Sunset and are looking forward to returning. If ownership would fix a few things PBSsB could return to its first class status.

Room Tip: Depends upon your preferences. I've never had a bad room there.

This resort used to be a jewel. We have been coming for 12 years to Cabo and 11 to the resort. As owners, we were very disappointed. The food is horrible, the rooms out of date and tired looking and the service at the restaurants poor. The worst was the owners lunch, where we went to hear an update. Omar, the manager of sales that day, was rude and should be fired. Their lies regarding the point plan border on fraud. I hope no one falls for their deals. In short, if they do not maintain the rooms better and increase the quality of the food, I can not recommend this resort.

This was our first time staying at PB Sunset as we had stayed at the Montecristo a couple of visits ago. We do not do all inclusive when we are in Cabo as there are SO many great resturaunts downtown or in the Marina that are way cheaper and you get the experience of going into Cabo.

We always rent a car when we are there and parking the car was easy and painless. We only had to valet park the car once, the other times we could just pull in and park at guest parking.

The golf carts did not bother me and once we were actually told we had to call for a cart they came pretty quickly.

Our room was just fine and was on the middle lower of the resort. The view was breathtaking and we watch whales and manta rays every morning while we had coffee in the morning and at night when we would come home from the beach and have a drink at the room.

It said that it slept 6 which it does, however it was 2 double beds in a bedroom and a futon in the living area that our friends slept on for 2 nights they said it was ok, but it didn't look very comfy (They did not want to sleep in the same bedroom as us).

The TV in the bedroom didn't work but we were not too worried about it as we were on vacation and no concerned about watching TV and the one in the living room worked just fine.

I liked that they had all the minimum requirements to cook meals and eat with an apartment sized fridge which kept our food and cerveza's cold!

I did miss not having a bathrobe to throw on when my husband would see a whale and I was just getting out of the shower but if that is the worst thing then we are doing good.

The skypool is awesome! It was pretty windy up there but what a view while you are lounging and having a couple drinks! The main pool down by the beach is awesome too. We found chairs later in the day after we went to Medano beach and swam over to the bar for a 2 for 1 at 4pm! We were only approched twice about timeshare and we just said we were owners and they left us alone :)

Like I said we did not really spend much more time at the resort as we like to go and sit at Medano Beach and take in the sites and swim in the ocean and eat and walk around downtown.

But over all this resort was maintained very well, the grounds were very pretty and groomed and the staff was courtious and helpful.

Room Tip: We were in Villa Santa Maria room 822 and it was close to the pool which was a short walk down to th...

We just got back from Sunset Beach. Just a bit of background, hubby and I, mid 40s, this being our 6th all inclusive trip to Mexico, first to Cabo.

We arrived at 11 am and didn't really have a choice of buildings, so we were assigned building 10, which wouldn't be ready until 3:30. Very disorganized after checking in, as there was a long wait for the golf carts, and people generally had no idea where to go. We were a little disappointed our room was on the bottom floor, but turned out to be fine, the view was great.

The good things about the resort - the rooms are nice, and the views are spectacular. Easily the best part of my day was getting up and walking the beach, looking out to the gorgeous ocean. It was nice to have a big deck, with decent furniture to watch the waves and whales. The resort and landscaping is beautiful and we spent most of our time at the main pool, which was great - nice pool and good food and drinks, with fantastic service. The waiters were so friendly here and worked so hard. And yes, we tipped regularly. We aren't usually picky where we sit, so didn't have a problem getting two chairs.

The golf carts were ok. Sometimes there was a bit of a wait at the lobby, but overall, it was fine. Hubby has a bad knee, but I did walk sometimes, and once I figured out the shortcuts and where I was going, it was fine. We also caught the shuttle one day to the Rose, and worked out fine. After experiencing the busy Medano Beach, we were glad to come back to Sunset.

We were also really impressed with the taxi cabs in/around Cabo. 100x better than in Puerto Vallarta! We really enjoyed going downtown and to the Marina.

The not so good - we purchased the 'pay for 5 days, receive 7 days' all inclusive deal through RCI. However, at this resort, it seemed that more things were non inclusive as opposed to all inclusive. I understand gift shops, and having a service charge for room service, but this was much more. The Sunrise Cafe, which just had coffee, ice cream and pastries wasn't included. There's no drinks (not even water) in the room. The fancy restaurant - $20/per person surcharge. Then there was a menu at the buffet, which I asked about - nope - menu not included in the all inclusive. There aren't alot of bars around, so we went to the lobby bar and asked for 2 drinks to take back to the room. We were advised 'only one to go drink per person'. Really? Then there was also the amount of liquor they seemed to run out of. My husband asked for coffee and baileys and was told at least 5 different times, they were out of Baileys. I ordered their drink of the day, which included Raspberry Vodka - they're out of Raspberry Vodka. And then I ordered a Miami Vice, again at the lobby bar, and was told they were out of the margarita mix. At 7 pm? It seemed more like they didn't want to dirty the blender.

The food also - not good. We ate all our breakfasts at the buffet, which was mediocre, and never varied, except to have bacon one day out of seven. Some meals we at ate the Bistro, which were hit/miss, and the service is horribly slow. Do not go there if you have to be anywhere anytime soon. We had a couple of suppers at the buffet and they were terrible. First, we made reservations as was recommended (strange for a buffet) and every time, there were no tables ready. So we still ended up waiting. There wasn't a big selection of food, and what there was, was cold. We like to go to all inclusives, because we enjoy eating and drinking on the resort, but that wasn't the case here.

On a side note - we witnessed some people being horribly rude to the servers at all the different restaurants. We were so embarrassed, these servers work so hard, for what I assume is very little money. Wish people could have a little bit of class and understanding sometimes.

Also annoying was the timeshare pitches. Every time you walk through the lobby (for me it happened 3x in 5 minutes), when you're eating, at the pool, etc. We always said we'd already been through it, so they left quickly, but was still annoying.

Anyhow, we probably wouldn't return to this resort, basically due to the food, or Cabo because of the lack of good swimmable beaches, but hope this helped someone!

Room Tip: We liked building 10 - close enough to walk to the beach, main pool and buffet. View wise, I think...
