“Luxury, Location and Service!”
Reviewed March 23, 2012

This is a luxury condominium resort with full on site restaurants and concierge service. This is the BEST place to stay in Cabo San Lucas! It's your home away from home.

Room Tip: Rent from VRBO instead of the resort. You will know exactly what room and can negotiate the rental.

We spent 5 days @ La Estancia. The property is immaculate. The service is superb. The pool area is gorgeous. The Villa we stayed in (1404) was upgraded with plenty of the comforts of home. Roomy and clean. The only thing I can complain about is the lack of kitchen supplies, minimal. The balcony/terrace was plenty big! The lounge chairs had cushins, there's a 4 seat dining table, a small bar with sink, and a bistro two-some. The view was amazing!! The property is close enough for a short taxi ride into town or Plaza Bonita or to popular The Office or Mango Deck. You can also dine at the restaurants on either side of La Estancia and charge to your room! We'd stay there again and again!

Reviewed March 11, 2012

My husband and I just got back from what we are calling our third honeymoon at Villa La Estancia. All we wanted to do was relax and have a great time, and we sure did! Here's why:

Costco Package: We were only going for 4 nights/5 days at the beginning of March, and we looked at a ton of different sites to book. Costco had a great package for the Hilton in Cabo, but by the time we booked about six weeks prior to our trip, the package was sold out. We're so glad, because we looked into VLE and we think it has a better location than the Hilton (see below). Costco used Transcabo for our land transportation (others reviewers below agree this is a good company to use), and they were easy to use from and back to the airport.

The Villas: The Villas is actually a three-hotel campus, with VLE in the middle. (Villa Palmar and Villa del Arco are on the other sides.) We wandered all over, ate at, and used the pool at the other properties, but those guests can't at VLE. VLE is definitely quieter, calmer, and nicer, but the other properties were very nice also. There is a little tram that continuously runs between the front of each property. There is a deli, coffee shop, arcade, grocery store, etc. that all three share that is convenient. VLE is so clean and beautiful. I remember a reviewer said that even the lobby smells good, and that person was right! Cash is not really accepted at the Villas- everything is just put on your room (they compare signatures and it's really easy), which we liked because we just left our wallets and valuables in the safe and walked around freely.

Our Standard Room: I wasn't sure what to expect since most reviews were about 2 and 3 bedroom villas, but we were VERY pleased with our regular, double queen room. It was really spacious, with a nice big bathroom, gorgeous shower (and awesome shower head), tons of closets, and even a separate closet that housed a mini-fridge, coffee maker, and safe (we used the closet as our pantry). The room also had a desk table, a couple of easy chairs, and a large (shared) balcony that looked out over the beautiful pool with some view of the Sea of Cortez (we were in Building Three, fourth floor, morning sun). The room was really clean, with service twice a day (first to clean in the afternoon, then an evening check to bring us bottled water and mints). No wifi in rooms (but it was available in the lobby). Plenty of extra towels, blankets, pillows, toiletries--- you never felt like you needed anything.

Amenities: Instead of bringing rackets to play tennis, we checked out rackets and balls from the gym and reserved a court with the concierge. Not the best quality racket/balls (we would bring our own next time), but it got the job done. The courts we played on were second-story courts over the deli. Really funny. They even brought us a large silver dish filled with ice, bottles of water, and towels for our reserved games. Nice touch. The pool was great, just warm enough (I heard comments that VLE's pool was warmer than the pools at the other properties). We didn't have a ton of competition for chairs at the back pool, but the pool closer to the beach filled up more quickly. Great pina colata and food at the swim up/poolside bar. Yum.

Desert Spa: What can I say, it was divine. We negotiated a reduced rate on massages and they even put us together in the couples' room for no extra charge. BY FAR the best massage I've ever had. The facility is huge and beautiful, and we were treated like royals. All the attendants knew our names and guided us through. We absolutely took advantage of the his and hers' lounge areas, with sauna, steam room, cold plunge showers, and three jacuzzis (cold, tepid, hot) both before and after our massages. Divine.

Food: We don't like to spend a lot on food and we're not super picky. We usually split breakfast at the deli (one entree, plus one orange juice, plus one pastry was about $11 U.S.), then had a big lunch or a big dinner and snacks otherwise. We really liked the margaritas at the pirate ship bar at Villa del Arco, the fish tacos at the taco stand, thought the food was pretty good at the poolside bar at VLE, and had a wonderful, dressy dinner at La Perla at Villa del Arco. We walked 15 minutes down to the Marina one lazy afternoon, and ate at a cantina that was pretty good. (Lots of bars, restaurants, and shops at the Marina.)

Location: We dropped a number of people off on our Transcabo bus before we got to our hotel, and I liked our location best. Only 15 minutes to walk on Camino Real to the Marina (our 5 minutes by $7 taxi), views of Lands End, tons of water taxis, etc. If we'd stayed at the Hilton or another property, getting to the "action" would have taken a lot longer, cost more money (plus you're really stuck at the resort for food unless you leave, which we weren't at VLE). We didn't want to leave the resort a whole lot, but it was nice to be able to easily and inexpensively when we did want to.

Buccaneer Queen: This was the hit of our weekend-- we paid $55/person to take a 2.5 hour evening cruise on a "pirate" wooden ship that went through Sea of Cortez and around to the Pacific side to see El Arco. Was it touristy? Yep. Was it fun? Absolutely. Open bar and they really helped you keep drinking. :) Appetizers were served. There was dancing, family fun, grownup fun, a pirate show, competitions, etc. Other water crafts were taking photos of OUR rocking boat, not the other way around. The crew was hilarious and generous. Great time!

Overall: When we travel, it's usually go, go, go to fit a ton in. We wanted a real vacation this time, and that's what we got. We were SO relaxed. We almost never repeat where we go, but my husband turned to me on day 2 of our stay, and said maybe we can come back here next year for our anniversary? I certainly hope so!

Room Tip: Higher floors have better view. Building Three had great morning sun, a partial sea view, and coole...

I am writing this POSITIVE review during our getaway....cant wait to share it with people who are interested in staying and visiting VILLA LA ESTANCIA.

If this your first time going to Cabo, make sure you book your transportation to the resort from the airport through TRANSCABO or the RESORT DIRECTLY. Dont mess with anybody else. Trust me it will be the best spent dollars. Once you are past customs at the airport just keep walking all the way out to the street and you will see a TRANSCABO agent in ORANGE SHIRT with a CLIPBOARD and confirms your existing itinerary. Do not talk to anyone else. They will try to sell you timeshares and a big waste of time.

Our sole purpose of this trip was to eat, drink, nap, be in the water and repeat. Therefore my review will be about the rooms, relaxation and meals. If that is your goal and NEVER want to leave the resort, then its worth buying the MEAL PLAN for $89 per person (including tips but the service is so good so we tipped them extra ). This meal plan allows you to eat and drink (all you want ) at all the restaurants in all 3 resorts, which are next to Villa La Estancia. Here is the best part, if you are staying at VLE ( villa la estancia) you can go to all 3 resorts but they cant come to VLE with their MEAL PLAN.

The rooms are clean, spacious and comfortable. Very comfortable bath robes, Free WIFI in your balcony and in the lobby.

If you have large family, you can book 2 or 3 bedroom villas through VRBO or any other website. Worth it.

We are in Building 3 and the view is to the endless pool. Truly relaxing!!!!

Special Thanks to Hector at the front lobby.

Tomorrow we are going to be using their spa called the DESERT SPA. I will let you all know how that turns out!!!

This was my second trip to La Estancia Villas. Loved every minute of it. Beautiful weather. Layed out at the pool; layed out on the private beach; had an outdoor massage in the cabana; ordered drinks and food at the pool. All staff was attentive and responsive. The property was clean and well manicured. It was a true vacation. I didn't want to come back to the "real world".

Room Tip: I love staying in Building 1 because I think it has the best view out on the Sea of Cortez.

This was our second time staying at a Villa La Estancia property...the first one being in Puerto Vallarta. This is one of the best places we have stayed in - the rooms are spacious (2000 sq ft+ for the 2 bedroom suites) and immaculately clean. All rooms have a big balcony where you can wake up each morning and just sit and enjoy a good morning cup of tea. The rooms have a full service kitchen with gas stoves and oven. Our room was pretty well stocked for basic needs - though I believe this depends on the owner of the room. Washer and dryer in the room was an added bonus since we could wash and dry all the clothes from the beach every day.

The customer service at La Estancia is excellent and very personalized. They even brought up complimentary, special treats every evening which were great to enjoy with a cup of tea. The property is not noisy, so you can actually relax and unwind there. It is walking distance from Cabo San Lucas and we enjoyed walking out for dinner each night to try the local cuisine. There is a small store on-site where you can walk and get most of small, everyday items like bread, eggs, juice etc.

La Estancia feels like a home away from home and I keep looking for more chains in other Mexico destinations :-)

Room Tip: All rooms are great!

This was our second visit to La Estancia and it was as good as the first. Perhaps better as we utilized the Spa next door. Friendly staff, well-appointed rooms, good sized workout room, attentive beach waiters, excellent poolside/beachside food and drinks. Nicely located on Medano beach. Only $8 or a leisurely 30 minute stroll to town. What more could you want?

Room Tip: Building 1 seems to have the best sun and views.
