Owner description: A pristine white sand beach offering spectacular snorkeling.

The water at Santa Maria Beach is truly gorgeous. Snorkeling is a great activity, which is why you want to get there early in the morning, or late in the afternoon. Boats full of snorkelers arrive during the day, and so your quiet time gets interrupted. Beware of the VERY coarse sand you have to cross to get to the beach -- wear hard soled shoes to protect your feet.

Bring your own shade and chairs. This beach is beautiful and the snorkeling is great. The only beach we have found to take our dogs. Not crowded and a very sheltered cove. There are vendors. One guy sells fresh ceviche and beer which is not only good but safe as well.

This beach is not park like as Chileno. It is wilder, less rules, there are dogs and the party boats that come here with lots of swimmers/snorkelers each day each play loud music so the entire cove can hear. The snorkeling is good, but there is not much shade. We did take the city bus here, fairly easy, although it is about a third of a mile walk to the bus stop.

It has beach front parking, dogs are allowed and the snorkeling was great. What more could you ask for? It's not crowded and it was a beautiful day. The snorkel cruises take their clients to the right side of the bay, so if you want to snorkel over there go early, otherwise the left side has beautiful coral and lots of fish too!

We caught the local bus to the beach. Bit of a sandy walk down to the beach but absolutely worth it. No beach sellers trying to flog Mexican wares, clean clear water and only one boat came around lunchtime with lots of people on it. they did not ruin the experience. great snorkelling, lots of fish not much coral. take everything you want to eat & drink as there is no food for sale at all. definitely if you're into a snorkel and going to a non touristy place - it's great. We caught bus back to hotel. was super easy.
