Snorkeling was not so great at this site and vendors will keep coming by even when you are walking out of the water. The beach is beautiful but hard to enjoy when you have to keep saying no to the vendors.

This was a great place! We rented a car for the week (highly recommended) and so we were able to explore on our own. We had wanted to snorkel but didn't want to be stuck on a party boat all day. We headed to walmart and grabbed some snorkel gear and made our way to santa maria beach. There are signs on the highway showing the location. It is easily accessible by car right off the highway. When you arrive you will have a couple of vendors in the parking lot but they are very nice and not pushy at all. This is clearly a beach where local family go on their days off. We went on a sunday and there were several families there for the day. It is also a place where the snorkeling and party boats bring there paying customers so get there before 1. You can simply walk right off the beach and within 20 yards you are surrounded by the most amazing fish. Swim along the right side and you will see octopus, numerous types of fish, eel and even might get lucky enough to see a turtle. For the price of a rental car and some snorkeling gear, you can make your own trip. A must do while in cabo !

We loved this beach. It is out of the way, quiet and the snorkeling was good. We spent most of the day there watching the tour boats come and go. They did not disturb us much. They were pretty quiet as well. The beach is pretty unique, the sand is really course and rough, tough to walk on. Bring your own water and a snack. Don't tell anyone else about this beach, don't want the word to get out.
Just a word of advise, there are two parking places. Park in the one right at the beach. If you end up in the first one, back up and go left to the one right at the beach.

This is a prestine cove. There are no restaurants but a few vendors serving fruit/drinks. Bring a picnic. You can access by public bus or by car. There is a parking lot on site but be prepared to walk across deep sand to get to the water. The slugging is worth it. Once you get to the beach, you can walk in the water and see lots of colorful fish. You don't even have to put your head in the water because the water is so clear but if you have a snorkel, you can go underwater at the beach and see even more. You can rent snorkels and fins on the beach. I am a novice but did snorkel along one side of the cove's rock. I couldn't believe what I saw. You can follow the rock out to the sea, if you are comfortable. If not, you can just stay close to the beach and still see lots of marine life. Take a banana with you and break it in small pieces to attract fish. It works better than crackers, etc. because it's heavier and doesn't break up.
