“Loved it even more the second time!”
Reviewed August 13, 2012

Took our second girl's trip to Cabo recently and stayed in Escondido 24. The villa was very clean, great location and we an plenty of room to sleep six adults comfortably. We love the fact that we could buy groceries and cook for ourselves if we didn't feel like going out. The maid service and overall staff were very accommodating and friendly. This was the first time for four of our friends to visit Cabo and they were thoroughly impressed with the accommodations, food, service and outgoing, friendly people that stay there.

Room Tip: Ask for a villa...we didn't hear anything going on outside.

I completely agree with the reviews from Smallfeet4 and Tara W! When we
walked into our one bedroom "villa" on July 12, we were very disappointed because it was extremely hot; the floor was chipped, the furniture was old, the bathroom and kitchen extremely rudimentary. I went to the front desk to ask to be changed to another "villa". The front desk man was rude and told me to call Trading Places, I insisted about the A/C and the old fans, he sent an A/C person who took care of the problem. Even with the A/C, if you land on the first building where the front desk is, forget it. On top of that, I am still sick with the runs; had to go to the hospital where I am being told that I might have amoebas. We were very careful with the food; unfortunately the morning
that we were leaving, we had breakfast at the resort restaurant. The food was
bad and expensive. One day later, I became very sick.
On the positive side, the staff, except for the front desk man who works in
the afternoons, was very nice. Veronica, Edith, and Erik Cruz were outstanding in the way they treated us.
A word of caution about Cascadas beach, be careful with the waves. It is very rough out there.

Room Tip: I have no tips to help travelers choose a good room. Insist that they give you a newer unit.

After visiting the Club website and then staying it was quite misleading. This is NOT a luxury resort, yes it had neat old architecture, but its in need of some major upkeep and updates. Some training in customer service would benefit themanagement as well.

We stayed in a two story third floor villa (apparently these are their nicer accommodations) it slept 4 adults-- one king bed and two short twin mattress with the comfort of industrial dorm room mattresses. This is misleading as it was listed by Interval International as a bed and pull out couch as reported by the club. Sheets itchy 50% cotton and 50% polyester. Towels not of quality material either, one per person, two came stained on two different days!

The A/C as listed on the club website did not keep the villa cool as there was one small unit on the second floor of the villa, open windows (concrete with large bamboo openings) that do not have glass only one had a screen, it's wonderful to find bird feathers and bugs throughout the villa, the doors to outside have huge gaps as well. If you like to visit places that are rustic this is for you.

Our view as walking up to the villa to the right was five broken fridges partially under a tarp and a large broken chair (never seen this in a resort) and to the other direction tennis courts. The tile in the villa was worn and missing in shower, sink, hot tub. The furniture appears to be original to the 1970s.

DO NOT eat the food or water at the club---we were told by numerous people it's fine and safe-- by both Mexicans and Americans. It is NOT!!! After eating and drinking the first days of our trip only at the club everyone in our villa was sick. We had to call the doctor and needed medicine. The front desk was rude and told me I had to go get the medicine myself. We have needed medicine in other resorts outside the US before and the front desk always took care of it in a caring manner--NOT here-- it seems that there was no finacial incentive for the front desk to get medicine for sick guests.

The management at the front desk is unbelievably rude. Its all about making money off of "guests" not providing services. Their shuttle service to the airport is simply a Taxi set up by the front desk; ours was lovely, returning back to the airport sucking in exhaust fumes after being sick all week. We spent more money on gatoraid, gingerale, white rice, and medicine than relaxing and having fun!

If you like getting sick, staying in steaming run down misleading accommodations in the desert lacking adequate a/c, being treated like a nuisance instead of a guest, this is the place to visit. Save your time and money and timeshare week to go to ANY where else in beautiful Cabo or ANY where else in the world.

After looking forward to a week away with my husband and friends, I was excited when we arrived at the hotel. My excitement began to diminish when we got to our room and found there was minimal air conditioning and the "pull out couch" was nothing more than 2 pads on either side of the fireplace.

The rooms were definitely out of date, but the service was adequate. We were thoroughly pleased with our maid service and left her a generous tip. We were not pleased with the fact that all 4 of us got sick. The only place we had eaten any food or had any drinks was the hotel. We were told the water was safe because the hotel had its own water filtration plant. That is the last time I listen to anyone say water in Mexico is safe. We all spent 3-4 days cooped up in our hot, humid hotel room because we were too afraid to venture far from the bathrooms. We spent hundreds of dollars on Gatorade, water, a doctor's visit, prescription, and other medicine. This was definitely not how we planned to spend our week in Cabo. Also, beware that when you ask to speak to the manager ( as we did to report our sickness) you will find a rude, defensive, arrogant man who refuses to listen or make any concessions that people got sick at his hotel. We were not the only people who got sick, as they couldn't keep the gatorade in stock. I will not be returning to this hotel and will be reporting it to our timeshare provider.

P.S. two days home and I'm still sick :(

Just returned from a great week at Club Cascadas. Grounds are lovely and clean. Staff was very helpful and friendly. Food at restaurant was excellent, but I won't pay $6 for a beer more than once. My only suggestion upon departure was to turn off the heat in the jacuzzi on patio...no one used it, and it added to the humidity.

Second time to Cascadas. Rooms and hotel in general is very clean, well kept. Some furnishings are out of date, especially table chairs. Some of the tile areas have lost their sparkle. Restaurant is above avreage only, some items very overpriced. Staff very helpful. But watch out for travellers sickness. Our group suffered several down days. There were many other people who sufferred diarrhea and stayed in bed one to two days. Had to cancel plans and lost money on excursion we could not go on, could not enjoy food for four days.
Also, concierge recommended a golf course that turned out to be terrible-fairways all burned out, poorly kept greens, sewage smells( Country Club of Cabo).

Room Tip: Most rooms are very quiet. Be careful of what the rooms look out on. Ask very specific questions...

Do not go here if your stomach isn't made of iron, your skin isn't made of lizard and you like to be treaty badly.

Upon arrival, we found the ambiance and architecture to be very different and interesting. That ended the second we realized the "A/C" consisted of cieling fans that rattled and a 20 year old portable unit on the 2nd floor that only cooled itself. The units are all open anyway, which creates a New York Subway vibe. I will say the smell is very "Mexico." The bed had a very prison feel.

The food was laced with parasites and made us all very sick for the whole trip. We had to call a doctor, walk to the pharmacy and waste our trip laying in the bed bug ridden room. The management team was very defensive and very rude. My advice is to stay ANYWHERE ELSE!

This being said......if you stay here pack your own food, linens, dishware, drinks, water, ice packs, Pepto Bismol, hat with a fan on it and TOILET PAPER (you will need a bout 20 rolls) My bottom feels like its freshly sanded and ready for primer.

Room Tip: Stay Elsewhere!
