“Great Location”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 19, 2010

We stayed in unit 161 for the month of February. It was a 2 bedroom end unit (no unit above us). The unit was well maintained and supplied, but it was a little dated compared with other units in the complex. The 2 king sized beds were quite confortable. The unit has 3 wall mounted a/c's (one in each bedroom and one in the main living area) and they all worked great. This unit also had a jacuzzi. It was easy to fill, but the heater/jets were incredibly loud so we only used it once as it was not relaxing with all the noise. Also, it took 6+ hours to heat up, so you had to listen to the noise all that time as well. We also had use of a garage for parking, but our vehicle was too big to try and get it in.
The grounds were well kept. They rake the sand daily to keep it looking nice. The sandy areas in the middle on the complex by the non-heated pool had a lot of concrete chunks in it (from pebbles to softball size) which my son tended to find with his bare feet when he was running around. My son loved one of the grounds keepers and would follow him around helping him water the plants every day. Never saw anyone in the non-heated pool the entire month we were there but they were constantly cleaning it. All the people headed for the heated pool with the bar/restaurant. Had lunch there once - well priced and the food was great. Can't swim in the ocean on Solmar Beach, but the views were fantastic. We would watch the whales all day long from our patio. Secured entry into complex and they had security guards walking around 24 hours a day so we felt very secure. Overall, I would recommend this place to everyone. I would just recommend choosing your unit carefully. Not a great place if you are looking for a party crowd.

We rented Unit 231 from Rockstar rentals and just loved the unit, the views, and Terrasol. It seems that the units condition and the location really affect people's overall view of Terrasol and I can highly recommend this one. It had all the supplies needed, like cleaning supplies, paper products, coffee filters, spices, games and more. We cooked lots of meals in the condo and found everything we needed.

Terrasol is REALLY quiet. We wanted a nice quiet place for Spring Break with our kids, ages 7 and 9, far away from the college spring break scene which was going on elsewhere in Cabo (Medano Beach looked crazy). The grounds are lovely and although they have 3 pools, I think only the one near the pool bar was heated and this was where everyone congregated. The pool bar is great for lunch or snacks or drinks and reasonably priced.

The water in the unit is filtered and safe and there is also a large bottle dispenser for water and you can get replacements from the office.

It is a quick walk down to town/marina area. I didn't bring sturdy shoes for walking around and would highly recommend that you bring sneakers or some other walking shoe. We also rented a car and were able to go grocery shopping at Costco, Soriana, and CCC. CCC is just past the intersection of 1 and 19 and that was probably the best store to shop for us--they even had organic produce and other organic items.

Our best night was spent on the ECOCAT dinner cruise. It was just awesome. Great views, the drinks were flowing, good island music and good food. Many of the dinner cruises around Cabo tend to be "Booze cruises" but this one was family friendly, while still being an all you can drink cruise. If you book in advance online, you get a better deal, but some days were windier than others so we waited to book till we were in Cabo.

Restaurants that were great were: La Fonda, Mi Casa, and Senor Sweets for sorbet and gelato. Baja Cantina was just ok.

We stayed at the Terasol resort (Unit 215) in March 2010.
First, I must say that my favourable reviews are for the Terasol Resort itself, not our rental unit.

The GOOD:
The location is fantastic- you are close enough to walk to town everyday yet far enough to enjoy the peace by the ocean. There is a great Palapa Bar that has fantastic lunches/early dinners, should you decide to stay in. Unfortunately the bar closes at 6pm. It is also a very quiet establishment with amazing views of the Pacific.

The BAD:
Now, as many have posted before, you must be cautious of the unit when renting.

After reading some favourable reviews about our unit (215), I was very optimistic. Once entering our unit however, I was somewhat disappointed. The washroom floor had appeared to have not been swept (hairs on the floor and in the sink) but I went down and asked to have the cleaning lady come back while we got groceries. This, I feel, was the fault of Terasol, and not the owner.

Upon entering, the decor/kitchen was dated and nowhere near as modern and refreshing as other units we looked at later in the week.

Should you want cleaning service while you are there, it comes at a cost of $15.50/day for a studio. That being said, I would have assumed that the owner would have had some simple cleaning supplies and toiletries on hand so that one could "freshen up" the room daily without paying for additional services. There was no broom to sweep (odd considering you on the beach the majority of the day), only a drop of dish soap that had been watered down because it was nearing the end, no napkins and a few remaining pieces of papertowels. After viewing other condos and speaking with other renters/owners, I realized that almost all provide these ammentites to their guests. We also had half a roll of bathroom tissue, and had to go out the next day and buy more. This did not impress me!

The dishwasher was not emptied upon our arrival. I attempted to open the silverwear drawer, only to have it fall out because of the wonky handle. Several other handles were also loose/wobbly on the cabinetry.

The UGLY:
The washroom vanity had several missing lightbulbs (we found a couple in the closet and put them in to improve lighting). One of the lampshades was broken and being held on with tape. Our sliding screen door on the patio balcony repeatedly came off the track when trying to open and close it. My husband had to spend time during our vacation putting it back on track throughout the week...very frustrating.
The shower also featured a constant drip/leak.

In SUMMARY:
We will return to Cabo and Terrasol but will not be renting this particualr unit.

Suggested Restaurants, (should you be interested):
Maro's Shrimp House, Miguelocos, Mama's for breakfast (orange coconut juice was great as was the french toast), LAS GUACAMAY’S and Terrasol Palapa Bar (if you want to stay at the resort).

We love Terrasol! It is right on the beach and in a quieter part of town. The resort is great although it is older and not all the units have been remodeled. We've rented three different units. The last time we rented through Rockstar Rentals and had a great experience. They were very informative. We stayed in Unit 221 which was fabulous! Upstairs, 3 bedroom, remodeled, stocked kitchen (lots of staples) and all the supplies needed for cooking, with an unobstructed view of the ocean. We saw tons of whales and several dolphins and sea lions. Terrasol is a short walk into town. We learned to stop at Costco on the way there from the airport which is cheaper than the grocery stores within walking distance. The cabana next the main pool is open for breakfast, lunch and snacks and is good. The fitness center is not enclosed and doesn't have A/C. The equipment was getting old and the pool was somewhat murky. You can not swim in the ocean in front of the resort since the waves are 10 feet high. There are warning signs all along the beach. But the private beach is quiet and not crowded, the views are fabulous and the location walking distance to town was great too. Since each unit is individually owned the furnishings, decorations, etc. will vary between units.

This resort is pristine clean -- down to the sand being swept every day. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The location is perfect -- we walked everywhere. Unfortunately, our particular unit, #164, was awful. It had obviously not been updated since the resort was built -- and this resort was the first on this particular beach.. Tile was falling off the wall in the bathroom, the blinds wouldn't close, the shower curtain was torn and falling down, the kitchen was poorly equipped, the water heater was so small that one of us got a short, warm shower. The mattress was, by far, the worst we've ever tried to sleep on. Before we left we asked to be shown other units -- one was marginally better and the other (much larger) had been updated and looked great. We would return to the resort, but would be very, very particular about which unit we rented.

We stayed at Terrasol in room 202 for 10 days in Jan, 2010. Terrasol is a great place. The staff is very helpful & nice. The hotel is in a great location & very quite. We loved the swim up palpa bar. The food was some of the best we had and you can get almost anything on the menu for $7 or less.

Room 202 was beautiful! And Bjoern was great to work with. He was very helpful with all of my questions & very accommodating. We did have a problem with the air conditioning leaking on the floor but they seemed to have it fixed when we left. We also had a hard time getting the celling fans to work and the beds were a little hard.

Overall it was a great place to stay I would just double check these things have been fixed before staying again.
