“U Must Eat Here”

The most unique Mexican food, perhaps we ever ate, and we live in SoCal, and have been visiting Mexico for years and years. The outdoor seating is really shady and clean -- lots of trees and bushes, well-landscaped. "Diego" is one of the servers and he will provide wonderful attention to your experience and meal. "Felix" is another waiter, who is very nice, and knowledgeable too. Start with the three salsas served with chips before any of the food is served -- really, really good (salsa verde, a red salsa, and red pepper paste)! Oh, my goodness, be sure to order the Mango Margaritas -- another "wow!" We arrived early for lunch, at noon, and the menu was limited. But, by 1:00 you get the full menu. You have to try the Gorditas appetizer, and be sure to select the "corn fungus" as one of the accompaniments (we never heard of it before, and it is so good, you just cannot miss it -- called, "huitlacoche"). Roasted poblano peppers was the other one we ordered for the Gorditas accompaniment. We ordered the Conchinita Pibil (shredded pork, simmered in a very unique sauce), which was simply outrageous. The steamed lamb was very fine, too. They serve you home-made, rolled tortillas, to go w/the meats and rice and black beans, so you end up making your own little tacos). For dessert, be sure to go w/the Mexican Coffee (may have been the best I ever had -- orange, molasses, and cinnamon) and incredible Tres Leches cake. Way to finish your meal! Enjoy.

“Authentic and Charming”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 29, 2014

The food was truly authentic Mexican which lead to an interesting array of choices and made me a bit more experimental. Almost everything was fresh and delicious, just be careful if you don't like spicy foods that you let them know! The restaurant is very warm and inviting and a nice break from more touristy spots.

“We love Diego!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 25, 2014

We went here for dinner hoping to catch up with Diego. He wasn't working but had a nice dinner just the same. The food, service and atmosphere did not disappoint. The place was pretty packed for dinner but we were the only ones there for breakfast. The breakfast was a step up from the usual selection and YES, Diego was there! He always remembers our names from year to year which is amazing. The kitchen was a little slow for our large group but he took care of us well! Every one was pleased with their meals!

“Very authentic, should be on everybody's schedule!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 24, 2014

Went to Los Tres Gallos for an early dinner and were quite pleased. This is an authentic Mexican restaurant that came highly recommended and for obvious reasons.

When you walk in you are almost in the kitchen and your sense of smell gets to enjoy the wonderful aromas of all the cooking food. Most of the seating is outdoors in a little courtyard environment surrounded by plants and trees.

We shared the grilled cactus and cheese app and my date had the chicken gordita app for her dinner while I had the arrechera platter (basically an uncut fajita steak with all the same fixings). The food was quite good and I think it a must or all to have the grilled cactus and cheese app, quite tasty and not at all what you would expect.

Having been at many local restaurants we felt that this one was at the top of the pile and one that currently stands heads and tails above the others, including some we have reviewed here on TA.

The Pros:

- Excellent food
- Excellent service
- Excellent prices

The Cons:
