We stayed for a week as a family of four and were impressed with the resort. The one bedroom room had a couch that the kids slept on and the seperate bedroom was spacious with a comfortable king bed and good linens. The bathroom and shower were spacious and kitchen had everything you would need - blender, full oven, pots and pans. My wife spent a lot of time on the balcony hammock and I enjoyed watching the whales from the patio chairs. It is a small resort which means limited activities and hours for services such as the swim-up bar. The pools and hot tub were usually a good temperature, never too busy and many chairs and umbrellas were available. I agree with previous posts that say if you are going to use the restaurant, Taco Tuesday and Fiesta Friday are the times to go. I would recommend a car as it is a long walk to any store or off-property restaurant. It was my first time driving in Mexico and it was much better than I had anticipated. The roads were generally good, other drivers not loco and it was easy to get to places. We did day trips to Todos Santos, a zoo and hot springs near Santiago and many drives into Cabo, San Jose and grocery stores. As far as resort fees go, I agree they are annoying and I wish they would just add them up front to the nightly rate. However, the $7/day is the lowest we've seen for a daily fee.
The last 5 resorts we've been to (Oregon, California and Hawaii) have all had $25-35/day for the same services- wifi, valet parking, snorkeling equipment, towels, etc.
so we thought it wasn't a bad deal. The staff here are great and would always say hi or help If there was a question. As for painting and maintenance, it was pretty low-key and brief. Our last resort in Hawaii had jack-hammering during the day so I guess the painting wasn't an issue for us. We would return (at least until they start construction on the other buildings).

I stayed at Sirena del Mar because of this hotels high star rating on trip advisor. Wow, was I ever DISAPPOINTED! The view was spectacular, but most everything else was incredibly lacking! The kitchen was nice, as was having a washer and dryer. The penthouse balcony was spacious. BUT, the sheets were of poor quality, the shower didn't drain, there were tons of worms coming down from the ceiling(yes, WORMS! To which the staff replied there are lots of butterflies.), 120 long steps down to beach, no beach food or drink service, lots of yellow tape where painting was going on. Not having food or drink service at the beach ended up not being a big deal because the food was blah. Also, the surprise extra $7 a day fee seemed suspicious. I would never stay here again.

Except for the concierge, this resort lacks everything but the view....and you can get this view from many resorts in Cabo. Ordered a steak and lobster. Served cold, tough, and poor service to boot. Just try to get a refill on your drink. I went to the bar to get a refill. The restaurant is not worth trying out. Didn't get a meal worth buying all week. Welk should be able to do better than this. I know this is a small resort, and activities should not be expected to be much, but if you offer water aerobics, at least show up. I told Manny, the activties director, that we here and were ready for the water aerobics, and all he replied was that he would start the music. Right! It never happened. Don't come if you expect any activities that aren't extra revenue for this resort. It's small.. 72 rooms. If you want quiet, it is quiet. Beautiful view. They could do so much more with this resort, but Manny doesn't have it in him.

Room Tip: Ask for a room in the original buliding with a Western balcony if you want a view of "El Arco&q...

We stayed at the Welk Resort from January 26th to February 2nd,and just had a wonderful stay. We were located in a large 1 bedroom suite which was very well appointed with a full kitchen, and a large balcony where we ate most of our meals, and watched the whales go by, and lots of hummingbirds just a few feet away. All rooms have Ocean views. The staff were incredibly helpful, especially Jazzie, who booked our excursions, ATV ride on the beach, (highly recommended) and whale watching. The resort has beautiful, heated pools with breathtaking views, and a great little beach, with no vendors. The staff there treated us great, as our flight did not leave until 5:30, and they let us stay until mid-afternoon, and gave us a complimentary room to shower and change in. Overall this resort is amazing, and we have nothing but good things to say. Two thumbs up!!

There are rooms without a good view. We got one and moved the second night. The $7.00 per day fee is for nothing that I could see. They had workers painting all day on Saturday in front of our building and specifically our room. Not relaxing to sit on your patio. Two nights they had events, (very loud) again not relaxing and not enjoyable to sit on your patio. Chairs on the patio were not comfortable, the chairs by the outdoor fireplace were nice they should use those for the room. We only ordered food by the pool (no drinks) we bought our own at Walmart. We had chips, salsa and guacamole and fish tacos for $25.00 and not good. Location of hotel is tough if you do not have a car, cabs can get expensive. Small resort not really any privacy and the beach is bad, lot's of rocks, could not really swim and the palapas were always full. I would not recommend this hotel. If you want to visit Cabo stay closer to town. The Villa La Estancia is lovely and even Casa Dorado which I thought was just ok was better than the Welk. I do not understand the trip advisor high rating.

Room Tip: There are bad room locations. If you choose to go to the Welk request the newer section. Otherwise...

My Husband and I recently returned from a 10 day stay at Welk Resort - Sirena Del Mar in Cabo. We had a great time at this resort, it's such a beautiful location up on top of a cliff looking out to sea. Our room there was so beautiful, we upgraded to a 1 bedroom deluxe suite which was totally worth every penny. We watched whales from our balcony and by the pool also saw dolphins one day too. The staff at the resort are very friendly and welcoming Eduardo the bell captain, Manny the entertainment director and Jorge the bartender. We took part in a timeshare presentation and it was a very pleasant experience, no pressure at all. We did not purchase as we didn't feel the need at this time, but if we didn't already have a timeshare that we were happy with we probably would have bought. The credit we received for doing this we used for a sunset cruise and a glass bottom boat tour..lots of fun. The restaurant at the resort has very good food, I highly recommend the Friday night Mexican Fiesta, food is great and so is the entertainment. If you like to cook for yourself, which we do, Walmart is just a short taxi ride away...watch out for the really aggressive timeshare sharks in Walmart. They approach you sounding like they want to help you , but really they just want to trick you into a timeshare presentation. Those same type of people are at the airport as well, just get out of the airport once you collect your luggage and don't talk to them, they are tricky. All in all I highly recommend this resort, we will go back again I'm sure it was just so beautiful there and it's a small , intimate resort. The private beach it great too, they have beach chairs that you can use from the front desk, with built in small coolers!! You'll love this place

Room Tip: Get a room in the building closer to the beach , it's quieter

Just spent 5 nights at the Welk Resort Sirena del Mar. We have never been to Cabo and were nervous about picking a good hotel. My wife and I loved it. Thanks Tripadvisor reviewers for the help. We had a Deluxe Ocean Front One Bedroom Villa from what our reservation said. We thought it was a very nice room and set up well. The kitchen & washer/dryer were nice to have, and the bedroom was nice with a king size bed and private balcony overlooking the ocean. Being a smaller property (2 buildings, 65 or 70 units I think), there are not a ton of amenities, but it had two pools, a big hot tub, an exercise room (with great view) a restaurant and a swim up bar, and also little things to do like ping pong, billards, foosball and free use of a computer. Really, what we liked was the way it was all set up, kind of in a semi circle framed in by the two buildings with everything overlooking the palm trees, rocks and ocean. Everything was clean and well-maintained. The beach down & off to the side of the resort is nice and not crowded. We did not snorkel, but the hotel has gear to borrow. Our concierge tried to get us to listen to the timeshare presentation, but after our initial "no" on the first day, she did not push the issue. The staff was fantastic, friendly & helpful. Even the quiet/shy employees were polite and acknowledged us. I can't remember all names, but Manny the entertainment director was fantastic (proud to say I beat him at ping pong), as was Alex and Carlos, whether bartending or serving at the restaurant. Others were great, too, I just can't recall names. The two guys at the front desk were great, as were the two people at the concierge desk. Jazzie was our concierge and she was fantastic also. I have nothing but good things to say about the staff. Some previous reviews were only so-so on the restaurant, but we never had a bad meal, most were very good, but we are not foodies, so what do we know. To us, it was great. Maybe a bit on the pricey side, but so is the rest of Cabo and what do you expect for staying on-site. Taco Tuesday was a good deal and tasty, and the 2-for-1 happy hour from 2:00 to 3:00 at the pool bar was a lot of fun. Puerta Vieja restaurant located on the main road just a couple hundred yards toward town from the hotel was a very good meal. Also went to The Office at Medano Beach for a meal, which was good food and fun people watching. We recommend both of those places to eat. The market in the hotel lobby is small, it has a few things, but not much of a selection. We went to town twice and Walmart for groceries once. We took one cab ride on the way back from Walmart, but otherwise took the bus the rest of the time. It is 20 pesos for two people and easy and takes only about 15 minutes. Look for the white school bus. The walk up to the main road is a bit of a hike and steep in some places, but do-able unless you have difficulty walking in the first place. If you go after dark, it is safe, but dark, so bring a flashlight or use your phone's. Overall, this was a great experience for us and we would return again.

Room Tip: Rooms in the "B" building (off to the right if facing the ocean) are quieter, as the "...
