Pueblo Bonito Los Cabos
Ranked #15 of 73 Hotels in Cabo San Lucas
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed February 1, 2011

This is my first trip to the Pueblo Bonito Blanco and my second trip to Cabo. We wanted to stay on the beach near downtown Cabo because our last vacation in Cabo we spent about $800 in taxis fees getting into and out of downtown Cabo.
From a location point of view this hotel is about perfect. We chose this hotel over the Pueblo Bonito Rose’ because the rooms have unobstructed views of the bay and the Sea of Cortez’. Our hotel room was great from that perspective too. The pool is very nice. The food is average. The room itself is average and nearing the point of an update but the rooms are kept immaculate. The hotel itself is noisy because all the floors in all the rooms are tile. We could hear the people in the room above us walking with shoes on. The bedroom is right off the exterior hallway and we woke up more than once to people talking and horsing around because the hallways are like echo chambers. The bathrooms are very small. One bathroom lavatory basin per room which extended our time getting dressed to go out. The water pressure at Blanco was excellent, which wasn’t the case at the Fiesta Americana last year during our first visit to Cabo. We had to be cautious when showering at Blanco. The hot water can come out rusty for about 30 seconds after you get the water temp adjusted. This also happened in the lavatory basin.
We also had a problem at night. It did get cold a few nights and our heating system did not work. It got pretty chilly and we had to put on T shirts before we bundled up under the covers. The A/C worked fine during the day. While chilly is unusual in Cabo, a little heat would have been nice at night.
The complaints generally are things you don’t run across at nice hotels. As a businessman, I need Internet access in my room. This is not available at Pueblo Bonito Blanco. The Internet is only available at the pool and I had a terrible time getting on and/or staying online even at the pool. The people at the hotel said they needed to reboot the router. Most of the time that didn’t work either. I ended up going over to the Pueblo Bonito Rose’ deli to access their wifi a few times because I couldn’t connect to the WIFI system at the Blanco pool. We saw a lot of people complaining about the lack of an Internet connection and the front desk was not being truthful. They were telling people to reboot in 10 minutes. This Internet problem really caused us a problem that Pueblo Bonito Blanco refused to address or fix.
The hotel brochure says they serve breakfast until noon. On New Year’s Day my wife and I went downstairs for breakfast at about 11:40AM. We were told we could no longer order breakfast. Neither of us were very happy. I think the next time we will give the Pueblo Bonito Rose’ a try. The hotel is adjacent to the Pueblo Bonito Blanco. It is newer than Blanco and we think it is a slightly more upscale hotel for the money. The only thing we won’t get at Rose’ is the view. The hotels in Cabo are expensive in general and from Christmas to New Years all the hotels are really expensive. The Pueblo Bonito Blanco isn't a bad hotel, it just isn't a great hotel and it could be great with a little tweeking here and there.

You can't beat this location. Just returned from a RCI exchange week. Stayed in room 403 - great morning view of bay. Lots of playful sea lions in am, view of beach and pool activities all day from balcony. Was able to access free WiFi from balcony... better in am. Could see the Rose activities and sunrise right outside our door (opposite side of balcony) - checked every morning for cruise ships... one day the Queen Elizabeth was in harbor! Mexican Fiesta/Festival night was good value for money, rooms were clean. Had double beds pushed together. Accepted PBSunset timeshare preso for $200 Blanco credit and a dinner cruise for two on the SunRider100 (a vacation highlight). Saw whales on 3 different adventures. Walked to town most days, took cab when too lazy. Ate at Skippy's twice - great tacos. Had a good ribeye at Cilantro's, enjoyed the Italian buffet at the Rose. Good service from concierge, great room service waiter. All in all, I would highly recommend the Blanco. Very deserving of the RCI Gold Crown rating. by the way, accepted the timeshare preso during dinner at Cilantros - could name our perk and took the dinner cruise of our choice over the $100 Rose spa credit.. PBSunset is an upgraded resort from Blanco - but location, experience and venue is much different. Appreciated the minimal pressure at end of PBSunset sales preso.

Although the resort is 19 years old, it has been updated, very clean, good food and fabulous service. You felt as if you were truly in Mexico. We loved the fact that you could swim in the ocean. This is my 4th trip to these resorts and I will be back again.

Our experience at PB was great! We don't agree with the other negative reviews at all! We are glad they didn't stop us from staying here. Our room was very clean and roomy. Our view was perfect. For floors 3 and up there's not a room with a bad view. They all have an ocean/pool view. Beautiful for mornings, evenings and after dark. We loved having a kitchen. The housekeeping service was very good and accommodating. We felt safe at all times on the resort and off. We commented to each other numerous times how friendly the staff was everywhere we went at PB Blanco and Rose. It was busy while we were there so the pool was crowded but the staff helped guests find umbrellas and chairs. We didn't feel the timeshare pressure was too much. Hey, everyone's got to make a living. We learned that if you sat in PB beach area they checked in with you daily about a timeshare tour. But they didn't bother you at the pool. Problem solved. The food at both restaurants was great and affordable. We went to other places a few times and had decent meals for much more money. Might as well eat at PB. We didn't have any bugs but I'm sure that's a seasonal thing. By the way, the whole world has bugs. Be glad it was just harmless ants! I'm sorry bad things may have happened to some. Some situations are definately awful and deserve to be shared for others protection but for those who gave unfavorable reviews with no provocation, we believe that respectful people who respect others recieve respectful service. In other words, you get what you put out. Can't wait to go back!

I'll being my review with, there are many other nearby hotel establishments that are exceptional and offered at similar or the same rates as Pueblo Bonito Rose and Blanco.

Be advised that Pueblo Bonito Rose and Blanco are the oldest, most outdated hotels in Cabo on Medano Beach (the only swimmable beach in Cabo). The pictures of these two hotels are very deceiving and don't show the extent of how these establishments are so outdated and unsatisfactory.

My reservation was at the Pueblo Bonito Blanco. The front desk and managerial staff are very unpleasant and unhelpful, they have no sense of hospitatility at all.

My reservation was for a junior suite, the room was very small and cramped for our party of 3 adults. The junior suite contained two queen sized beds, extremely small kitchenette located in a hallway and a small excuse of a bathroom.

After witnessing the unsatisfactory junior suite, my party requested a free upgrade to a larger room. The unpleasant front desk staff and manager informed us that there was no way we were able to upgrade at no cost, even though the establishment looked like it was less than 15% occupied. We were asked to pay an extra $100 a night to upgrade to the next larger room. After countless attempts of explaining this to the staff and the staffs' acknowledgement that there were larger rooms available that would remain unoccupied during the duration of our trip, they relented that a free upgrade would not be possible.

After one night in the cramped Junior Suite and complaining to nearby hotel personnel, we received a call that a larger room was now all of a sudden available for the remaining of our stay. (My thoughts, the hotel personnel that we vented to must have relayed the message to Pueblo Bonito that we were complaining about the hotel to other hotels in the area.) This left us spending over two hours of our vacation re-packing our belongings and transferring to the larger room. It would have been so much easier if the hotel staff would have just listened to our request in the first place, since the end result was the same.

The One Bedroom Suite was indeed larger: 1 bedroom with 2 queen size beds, a pull out couch located in the dining/family room area and a larger kitchenette.

Pueblo Bonito Blanco and Rose do not have a jacuzzi. In conclusion, I am definitley NOT returning to any Pueblo Bonito establishments in my future vacations.

Even though the location is ideal, I do not recommend staying at the Pueblo Bonito establishments. There are many other nearby hotel establishments that are exceptional and offered at similar or the same rates as Pueblo Bonito Rose and Blanco.

Would have given the hotel and service a MUCH higher rating if I hadn't returned home only to find out that someone at one of the restaurants (or perhaps the deli) stole my credit card number. !! Arg.
