“Fantastic Service makes it a Great Vacation at the Rose!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 26, 2014

We just finished a 10-day stay at the Rose and we still love this hotel and the amazing staff. The facility and food are great but the overwhelming quality of the staff put this resort head and shoulders above the rest. We now visit two times a year and we are welcomed as soon as we arrive by Alberto who greets us by name. When you think of how many travelers are in and out of this hotel each week it is truly remarkable that a bellboy would remember the names of guests from year to year. He provided great service whether we needed restaurant directions or advice, the fish we caught to be frozen and stored or when we came back from the store he immediately delivered our groceries to our room. He always has a smile and is eager to see if you need anything.

The amazing staff continues to the pool and beach waiters. We really like to see the same waiters still working for the hotel year after year. They are all amazing but this year we had great service from Wilver, Velez and Gerardo. The hotel has them set with a large area to serve and they hustle to take orders and deliver food and drinks to all the guests. They always make sure to let us know when happy hour is ending so we can get the cheaper prices if we want to order more. They work hard and always have a great attitude. We had the Dorado we caught prepared by the hotel. Gerardo checked with us several times about it and it was prepared perfectly. The ceviche and grilled fish tacos were fantastic. When we brought the leftovers back out the next afternoon, Gerardo happily brought plates, napkins, silverware and more chips and guacamole to go with it. When we travel with our children we do the all inclusive but when it is just two of us we don't. Either way, we are always sure to tip because the service is fantastic and the employees work so hard.

It is so nice to go back to the Rose each year because they make such an effort to make us feel like family and make us feel like they truly appreciate our business each year. I wish I had all the names of those that provide great service but there are too many. From the front desk employees who check you in, to the housekeepers cleaning your room to the groundskeepers who are constantly trimming trees and hedges, everyone at the hotel has a smile and friendly disposition. This hotel may be getting a little older and not the newest and shiniest on the beach but it is impeccably well cared for and the staff make it by far our favorite place to stay on Medano Beach.

Room Tip: Some travelers want ocean view. We prefer to request a ground floor room because it has such great...

This was our first trip to Cabo, we had to make a change of plans at the last minute. We chose this resort because of its location. We were very pleased, the location was perfect, the rooms were amazingly clean. The open air restaurants were really nice. Our breakfast and pool waiters were awesome. We truly enjoyed our trip, and will definitely go back.

Room Tip: All the rooms have 2 double beds, however, they are more than happy to but the two beds together for...

I write these reviews with the sole purpose of helping other people make smart travel decisions...

Just returned from a fabulous 7-day vacation in always sunny Cabo. Pueblo Bonito Rose's location is ideal, right on the swimmable Medano Beach...The positives: Location. Very close and easy walk down to the beach. Outside gardens, landscaping, statuary, pool, bird cages, swan pool, koi/turtle pond are spectacular and very well maintained. I noticed some negative comments about the staff, but we had no issues. Friendly but not especially helpful. We ended up figuring out things on our own...

The room itself would be rated average or slightly better than average. At first glance, it looked great. Clean, tiled floors, cute little kitchen, newer LCD Samsung TVs. Ample closet space. We stayed on first floor and had a nice patio area (only a few of these)...The kitchen was OK and we used the stovetop, micro, coffee maker and toaster primarily for breakfast. No issues. They could/should upgrade kitchen appliances/cookware.

The negatives: After a few days, we noticed that the toilet did not work properly, the shower area was constantly wet (no fan or window, poor drain) and was just plain gross by week's end. We could hear the toilet flush/shower running from adjacent rooms, sometimes waking us at 4AM. In my opinion the beds were stiff and not very comfortable.

We stayed on the west end first floor (nice patio and pergola) and were awakened nearly every night/morning by the service traffic and staff that use the service road that was about 15 feet from our bedroom window. Probably only an issue where our room was. Overall, not as nice of a room as it should be (especially compared to other Cabo hotels). They really need to stick some $$$ to the INSIDE of the hotel.

Tips: We rented a car and were concerned about the parking (they only have ~25-30 spots) but we were able to find parking every time. I would highly recommend renting a car. We paid $350 for the week (for a VW Passat), and used it every day to either get groceries, go downtown, go to one of the nearby beaches, or just to explore. I would highly recommend renting a car...

We have two small children and so did several other people. The pool was very nice and HUGE, warm enough and the kids loved it. No hot tub, only in the spa. EVERY morning by 8AM, most of the chaise lounges would have towels or trashy magazines on them 'reserving' their spot for the day - even though the people were not in them! What is wrong with people? Why do you think you can reserve your spot? These are not YOUR chairs...I noticed the hotel would issue sheets of paper saying that people cannot 'reserve' chairs/areas but would not really enforce this policy. More of an issue with people, not the hotel. Either way, there are plenty of chairs so we would always end up finding at least one or two open ones.

We did not opt for the all-inclusive ($109/per person per day), primarily because we have two small kids and don't start drinking at 9AM (which many people do here)...We also want to get out and try other places to eat. We did try the lower level restaurant (very cool Mediterranean decor) on our last night and were disappointed. It is buffet style with poor service. No menus or anything. The food was good with several options at the buffet. However, no prices were listed and we ended up paying $150US for three buffet plates, three drinks and a 'kid's meal'. Oops. During the week we had several meals that were better for less money (try The Sand Bar on Medano Beach, just 100 yards to the west). To top it off, my wife and two kids had stomach issues the next few days.

Be prepared for the oodles of 'vendadores' selling their junk on the beach. You really cannot avoid them, just politely say 'No Gracias' and keep on walking down the beautiful beach...

Overall, I would highly recommend Cabo as a vacation spot...Beautiful weather, beautiful beaches/water and landscapes, oodles of restaurants and activities. You should never be bored. The Rose was very nice with a near perfect location, but I think a little overvalued...

Room Tip: Avoid rooms near service road (west end)...Noise all night from trucks, carts, workers..

Nice vacation spot for tourists looking mostly to relax. Quality of food is not very good. I just had Mexico buffet dinner today and I'm beyond disappointed. I've had better food in California! I expected good Mexican food in MEXICO. Last night I had Asian buffet dinner and it was equally subpar. I thought "well, can't expect much from non-Asian cooks" but seriously??? Can't get Mexican food down??? Ugh and so expensive. $25-$45 per person depending on the night. Eat somewhere else!

Third trip to Cabo and first stay in Rose. The public spaces are very nice, the pool is great and you have excellent access to Medano Beach. That is important if you like swimming in the ocean because many of the Cabo beaches have a very difficult riptide. If you like the nightlife of Cabo, it's walkable from the hotel.

We did not eat in the hotel and the small kitchens are certainly adequate for cooking simple meals.

We stayed our first week at the sister resort, Sunset Beach, and our rooms were one bedroom suites in both places. The rooms at Sunset are newer and larger, but the resort is more isolated--if you want to go to town you either have to have a car, take $15 taxis each way, or do a shuttle to Rose.

We were pleased with Rose, but the rooms are noisy, unlike Sunset Beach. No soundproofing between walls or floors.

The staff is pleasant, but no more so than other Cabo resorts.

They do have a free WiFi patio, which meant there was no need to pay for connection.

The rooms were very clean and most of the staff were attentive.
Great job to our servers on the beach - Luis Banos and Wilver. They were the most friendly and helpful. Since we spent most of our time there, those two made the most impact on us. Luis and Wilver, I hope we were good tippers! Overall it was loads of fun!

Room Tip: We stayed in one of the nicest suites facing the beach and I would recommend that. Although, I can...

Spent a week at this "all inclusive" resort. Over all the experience was very good. But there are some quirks to deal with.

Room was nice....they all overlook the pool area.....very few rooms actually face the beach, with an ocean/beach view. Room had a kitchenette with sink, fridge, and stove top. Came equipped with the basics.....plates, cups, silverware, ect. Everything was "Mexican tile" floors (imagine that?!) Bedding was comfy, and everything was clean as you would expect.

Pool area is great, lots of deck space with lounge chairs and a HUGE pool. They are stingy with pool towels, and require a pool towel card before they will give you a towel........and not very nice about it.

Small Bar area between the beach and pool deck with a couple of TV's......was nice to sit outside and watch the games. You can order food at the bar......dont be in a rush.

There was always a buffet available, outside next to the pool deck. Had breakfast there every day.......Huge assortment to choose from. Same with lunch and dinner....they also had a different buffet menu theme every night for dinner.

Lots of lounge chairs available on the beach, with food and drink service available. Unfortunately on the beach there are too many locals trying to sell you stuff....hats, sunglasses, cigars, clothing, night club passes, and lots of illegal substances. Since i live near the beach at home, the beach is not a priority....the persistent locals were so annoying i stayed away from the beach near this hotel........but when walking down the beach....they are everywhere.....could not get away from them.

There is another restaurant on property that is a kinda fancy Italian place. We had dinner there one night, and it was just OK........There was no hostess at the station downstairs, so after waiting a few minutes (we had a reservation) we went up stairs and entered the place. Several male personnel were rude asking us to leave and wait downstairs..........Uh....OK......maybe post a sign? or have a hostess in place?....so we wait for a while, and finally get seated (the place is now empty....?) We were informed that although the resort is all inclusive, there is an up-charge to dine at this place........uh, ok.......Then when we order, even though its all inclusive, and even though there is an up-charge to dine here, the menu item I selected, has an additional up-charge....uh...ok........Oh and by the way........That top shelf alcohol your drinking is not on the all inclusive plan either........another UP-CHARGE.........

By the time I left, The feeling of being "nickel-ed and Dime-ed" at every opportunity was kind of irritating. When i Booked the trip with Expidia, there was no info AT ALL, regarding what All Inclusive means, and does not mean, at this resort. When I arrived at check in I had to sign a document with fine print on front and back explaining exactly what "all Inclusive" did not include.

Dont get me wrong, the resort was very nice, very clean, staff was great, location is decent. But I feel like the "all inclusive" wording is a bit deceptive. Just be ready for up-charges and you will enjoy your visit. If this review helps your planning, please leave me a helpful vote.....ENJOY

Room Tip: As always, High Floor with Ocean View (closest to beach) is best
