“Fabulous Vacation Spot!!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 4, 2011

Loved, loved, loved our stay here!! Having been to Cabo only once before (briefly while in port on a cruise) I wasn't too familiar with the area. I purchased the Living Social deal and figured if it wasn't the "greatest" experience at least we got a good deal. Well, we got an AMAZING deal and it was one of the greatest experiences. Starting from the beginning....

Airport - As others have stated, it's best to book your shuttle in advance!! It's the cheapest way to go, and efficient. Additionally, ignore all the people trying to get your attention after you've gotten your luggage. Keep walking OUTSIDE where you'll find a driver holding a sign, waiting for you. Bonus of making a beeline outside to find your driver.....TWO bars :) You've arrived....you're on vacation!! Have a Corona and relax while you wait for anyone else that's riding on your van.

Check-In - Check in was quick and easy. Wasn't overly amazed by the lobby, on the small side but clean with a beautiful, inviting view of the fountain/pool/beach. We were given wrist bands to indicate that we had the all-inclusive package, our room keys....and away we went! Easy breezy.

Room - I asked for a room on a higher level based on others suggestions. Unfortunately one was not available. And we ended up with a view of nothing, lol. Well, the aviary was right outside...and the fountain area/koi pond. So still nice but no pool or beach view. Which for us was fine, as we didn't plan on spending much time in the room. The room was a good size, and clean. The full fridge/kitchenette was nice to have. So heads up, if you don't do all-inclusive (BUT YOU SHOULD) then you can stop not far from the hotel and do some shopping at Sam's club. Stock up, and you can make/store meals in your room.
In regards to the bed. It's true....all they have are doubles. BUT, have a bellman come fix you up by shoving the beds together and it's one of the best HUGE beds to sleep in. Not a big deal at all. We did not have a problem with theft. But we also tried to prevent it from happening. We locked up our suitcases and kept the suitcase key with us when we headed out. This way....it would be way obvious if someone tampered with our luggage and took money, jewelry, etc. However I did leave items on the bathroom counter (costume jewelry) and it was never touched or taken.
Be sure to tip the cleaning people as well. You're room will be spotless, and they'll like you :)

Pool - The pool is fabulous. Lots of little ledges to sit on and relax. The waiters are very attentive. Again, TIP!! A few dollars go a long way. Having the all inclusive at the pool rocked. We ordered food and drinks with reckless abandon. The ceviche is delicious!! So are the shrimp cocktails....club sandwich....basically we didn't order anything that we didn't like. Oh, and the guacamole....get it!! As for drinks....the Miami Vice is fabulous. Without the all-inclusive these will set you back over $10 each. Once we were done hanging out at the pool, we'd ask for a bucket of beer and take it to our room. Put it in the fridge and we had cold drinks to enjoy while getting ready to go out for the evening :) There are lots of activities at the pool too. Trivia games, water aerobics, book swap/rental, card games, Bingo, volleyball. Great fun for adults and kids. We made lots of friends around the pool. The staff that runs the games are so much fun, and they work hard to make sure you're having a great time.

Beach - The pool area is adjacent to the beach area. Yes, there are the usual "sales people" at the beach. But seriously, if you don't expect this in Mexico then you're from another planet. They don't harass. They ask you...you say the universal word "NO (thank you/gracias)" and continue on your way. We walked the beach many times because the hotel is a short walk from a ton of beachside bars/restaurants. It's nice walking along the water....do it. Oh, and yes the current is strong. I lost a ring :( So you might want to leave your jewelry off when getting in. But the water is a perfect temperature of warm and clear!! You can see fishies!! Since this is one of the few swimmable beaches, this is another HUGE plus of staying at the Rose.

Food - Again, the all-inclusive is the way to go. We overheard a couple discussing their regret at NOT purchasing it. It really is worth it. I like to enjoy eating/drinking while on vacation and not think of dollar signs the whole time. We had the buffet breakfast with a beautiful ocean view every morning. Most days the food was similiar....omelettes made to order, potatoes, beans....dry cereal, fruit. You can also get a fruit smoothie made on the spot. Again, tipping is key. The first morning I had a mimosa and it came in a somewhat puny champagne flute. We left a tip....and from then on my mimosa came in a schooner!! Score!! The Champagne brunch on Sunday was amazing!! The area was transformed with decorated carts full of food. Ceviche, enchiladas, clams (cooked a variety of ways) pozole, paella.....I could go on and on. It was SOOOO good. Plus the piano player/live band made for a fabulous morning.
There is also a sushi set-up at the pool/beach bar. Ehhhh, probably the most mediocre meal we had but not terrible. The ambience however was fab. Sushi and drinks with the waves crashing right behind you....can't beat it.
We also ate at Pueblo Blanco which is right next door. One night they set us up on the sand under a cute little tent like thing. This is what vacation is all about!! Another night my boyfriend had the filet mignon here, and it was delicious. Again, the price would have been about 25 bucks for his plate. Flash that wristband, and it's included. No charge, nada. Just a tip :)

Spa - The Spa is amazing. AMAZING!! One of the best parts of the Living Social deal is the 2 one hour massages. We had an early couples massage booked. We got to the spa about a half hour early to utilize the amenities. Men and women areas are separated, and you're brought into the couples room through side doors. There's a wet and dry sauna. The place smells like heaven. Cucumber slices and towels are set out for your use. There's water, and tea available. I brought my mimosa from the pool bar with me.... There's a jacuzzi room with three jacuzzi's. A hot one, a warm one, and a freezing one. I did the quick dip in the freezing one, and then got in the hot one....and yes, very invigorating/different experience. Ummm, also be warned of the waterfall. I turned it on thinking it was jets and imagine my surprise when a waterfall dumps on my head. Thank GOD I was in there alone when this happened.
The massage was awesome. So relaxing and great way to start the day. I felt like a noodle afterwards. There are showers to wash off the oils, as well as shampoo/lotion/q-tips....blowdryer. All the bells and whistles. HEAVEN!

Staff - The staff here is fantastic. Tips truly go a long way. Make friends with the servers/staff. Makes your trip that much more memorable.

Random other tips - Go to Mango Deck! Fun outdoor bar a short walk away. Servers will make sure you have a great time. We went there about three times. Order their guacamole! It's made tableside and is yummy!!
Wait to book excursions. You shouldn't pay more than $1 a minute for jet skis. And you don't have to do a full hour. Deal with the guys on the beach. They expect it....
We also did a cocktail/evening cruise. Great way to cruise around, get great pics, listen to a live band.
Do the ATV excursion!! So much fun!!!! Living Social people......although ATV is promoted as a 50% off deal....it's a lie. The company Living Social advertises does NOT offer ATV's. However, if you present the concierge with the paperwork that shows this included, they will contact a company to get you a reduced rate.
Ask the bartenders for bottled water to keep stored in your room.

So basically, we absolutely loved this hotel/location/service. We would return in a heartbeat, and plan to!! I've found the negative reviews are nit-picky. And these people prob wouldn't be happy anywhere. You'll love it here. The price is more than fair...and we'd pay more.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on a higher floor. If you put your clothes in the drawers, leave em open a crack or...

The premises were good, the food good & the overall experience great but for the charge of a white cushion & a broken plate of $138.00 which on the high side would not cost more than $60.00. Wanted to talk to the manager on the morning of checkout but he was not in till 11.30 at which time my plane was leaving..

What a great place! Cabo is so beautiful, and so is Pueblo Bonito Rose. We only stayed for two nights, after a dive trip to LaPaz. We booked the day before and got a room for $100 per night!

Pros: The pool is beautiful, rooms are very nice and clean with a small kitchenette and refrigerator. All employees are very helpful. They have two giant bird cages around the pool. The beach is very pretty too. It is a close 15 minute walk into town. Their sister property is next door and also very beautiful ( My understanding is that you can use the facilities at either hotel)

Cons: Time share stalkers (but it seems that they are all over Cabo), Lots of vendors at the Beach (again, seems to be all over Cabo), food at the hotel was ok, but really expensive.

Tips: Go in to town and eat! Lots of great places and really fun! Best Italian food at SALVATORE'S! SOOOOO delicious! Portions are probably enough for two people.

Pueblo Bonito Rose is not the fanciest of Cabo hotels, but its service and value lead to a great time and I'd return again. I visited with 13 of my friends via the Living Social all inclusive deal, and we quickly established ourselves as a fun group and with generous tips we received fantastic service. We found the employees to be fun, sociable, and willing to help out. I did not have anyone approach me about a timeshare a single time during our visit either, though it sounds like others may have had other experiences.

The rooms are large and clean, though not modern or upgraded, they are still very comfortable. Each has a kitchen and dishes, but there seem to be a few variables among the rooms. Some have two closes, and others have 1. Ours had just a mini bar but others had large fridges. We stayed on the first floor which we found ideal for accessing the pool (there really is no audible pool noise from inside), and our room had a large patio with lots of seating. The layout of the hotel can be a little annoying because you need to walk through long, zig zagging corridors to get to your room.

The food was quite good and because you can leverage the facilities of the Blanco next door, there's a few options to choose from. We had fantastic service from Aldo at Mare Nostrum for dinner and from Gabriel each morning for breakfast.

We also really enjoyed the poolside service—nachos, salads, burritos, sushi, you name it—and plenty of drinks. Salvador and Alma were great poolside servers, and JJ (El Guapo!) kept things fun by the pool. Nancy from the Blanco was a lot of fun, too, but we found that the Blanco had a lot more kids, as where there were almost none by the Rose pool so we stuck there most of the time.

We also all enjoyed our massages at the spa.

On the downside, you do need to cab it into downtown, but its quick and cheap ($6 if I recall correctly). The concierge is completely useless for dining reservations at the resort - each time we made a reservation via the concierge, the restaurant had no record of it, but they always tried to accommodate us as quickly as they could. I would recommend going to the restaurant directly to make a reservation. Also the beach bar closes at midnight some nights (at least Friday but maybe also Saturday) so keep that in mind.

Heidi was our pool server for @ least 2 days and we even asked where her area was. She had our drinks coming continuously all day never asking for a refill. She also remembered what we were drinking even when we would switch it up on her. We watched her work very hard all day keeping the areas clean and providing the best service ever while we were in Mexico. We have stayed in many different all inclusive resorts and this by far was one of the best stays ever. Service in the restuarants were also very good but would like to let the management know that they do have a gem in this most remarkable waitress. We will definetly stay with this resort if and when we return to this area!!!!

Ausome time, the activities staff rocked. J Lu, JJ, Nancy and everyone else made my stay incredible and Jonathan was always there with a smile and a towel. The location is one of the best in Cabo. Five minute walk to the Office and about a 15 minute walk to the mall and downtown. Prices were reasonable but the all inclusive may be the best deal if you like alcoholic beverages. Sometimes you can get it for as low as $40-50 a day. My room was always clean and everyone looked to be having a great time.

Room Tip: Checking in later in the day may give you a better choice of rooms near the Sea of Cortez.
