“Excellent staff and service!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 3, 2011

The staff at the Pueblo Bonito Rose was excellent. We stayed at the PBR from May 16-23, 2011. Cabo has been the prime destination for our group's fishing trip. The resort centrally located. The rooms, facilities, beach and pool are clean and well maintained.

Suffice it to say, we had a successful fishing trip and requested to have our fish stored and prepared at the PBR' kitchen. Iris (our hostess), graciously took our request and ensured that our Yellowtail was prepared by the sushi chef. And our mahi-mahi and tuna was cooked to our exact preference. Awesome job to the entire PBR kitchen and staff!

I would also like to thank the following individuals:
Jesus Quintero (Server)
Iris (Hostess)
Cesar (Chef)

*GM please take note to recognize and reward these three individuals for providing excellent service ;)

Look forward to our groups next fishing trip.

The LA fishing group from rooms 1023 and 1024!

Great location in the middle of all the action. The wait staff is attentive and quick without being "pushy." You can walk to downtown or take a short cab. We are "picky" travelers but we would return here anytime.

For all the maintenance fee I pay, I was disappointed to see several things I never experienced before....one light burned out in the bathroom and never replaced by the maid. Then one day I put some leftover food in the frig, it was all frozen in the morning, I took a close look and the temp knob was busted off....Then there was the sofa that smelt like wet diapers. Unit 2044.
The internet wi-fi was overtaxed and barely worked, a really simple thing to fix.
The hotel could do better....the staff works hard but supervisors need to wake up.

At Pueblo Bonito Rosé we work very hard to maintain our service excellence and to maintain the property in optimum condition. We extend a sincere apology to this reviewer for the different situations that he experienced. We feel the most important issue is our staff’s reaction to areas of opportunity, and will step up the training of maids and supervisors to keep these situations from recurring. Concerning Wi-Fi, the free service is limited to the Pool Area and the Toscana Plaza next to the Deli. These comments will help us continue working with our staff and supervisors to improve our service attitude and facilities. Yours cordially,

This was our first trip to Cabo and we LOVED the Rose. When we return, we will be staying there again. From the moment we arrived, the staff was amazing and would do anything to help. The resort was not busy for majority of our stay, which was fine with us.

We did the all inclusive package and the food was perfect. We ate breakfast and usually another meal, along with drinks and ate in town the other times. It was perfect for us, and I think in the end we ended up saving money. Also, there were plenty of menu choices. Aldo at the Rose gave us a warm welcome on our first night and remembered us throughout our vacation. Raul at Cilantros at Blanco was AMAZING. He was so warm and kind. He also made a great Mexican Coffee.

The hotel grounds were beautiful and there were also people always around making sure everything was in order. I was also pleasantly suprised about the time share situation. We were asked once at the very beginning and once toward the end. Neither time did we feel pressured.

A few things that were not our favorite. The first and most annoying thing was the way they did the all inclusive tabs. You have to give your room number and braclet number at least twice per meal or order. Then you have to write out your name, sign your name and put your room number down. I don't know if this because they are new to all inclusive thing or if this is the way they feel is best but it gets old after a while.

The pool situation was frustrating at times... People would literally leave their towels at 7:00 am and not return to the chairs the entire day but that was really only a big problem on the weekend.

The wi-fi did not work well in our room, but worked when we went down to the courtyard. Not a big deal, just gets old when you want to talk to your baby back at home!

All in all it was a great place to stay and you cannot beat the location or view. It was PERFECT.

Room Tip: The higher your floor, the better the view.

We at Pueblo Bonito Rosé are very grateful for this reviewer’s comments that motivate us to continue striving for excellence in service. Aldo & Raul have been congratulated for their excellent service attitude and continue to be a source of great pride for us. Our Deluxe All Inclusive program has become very successful among our guests, and we are in the process of defining new internal procedures to expedite service without affecting our clients; however, at this time it is still important that all checks be signed by guests that are on the meal plan simply because we operate several different type of programs. Reserving lounge chairs is not allowed at our pool area, and personal belongings and towels that are left unattended for more than one hour are removed and held by our pool staff. We strictly enforce this procedure in order to minimize inconveniences to other guests. Wi-Fi connections are available by the pool area and Plaza Toscana (next to the Deli). Alternatively the Internet Center is available for a higher quality connection at an affordable cost. We greatly appreciate this reviewer’s comments and are confident that they will be useful in making improvements, as our main goal has always been guest satisfaction.

After vacationing in Mazatlan for many years, we decided to exchange our timeshare into the Rose and we were not disappointed. Everything from the units to the food to the gracious staff was top notch. The pool staff would often remember and address us by our last names and even at check-out they remembered our last name even before I said it, nice touch. We were a little apprehensive since we had read a few negative reviews on this site, but I guess it goes to show you that some people will complain about anything. As for the dreaded timeshare sale pitch, we declined right away and received only one call later in the week to see if we had changed our minds and that was it. Now, at the airport, that was a different story. I wish something could be done about the aggressiveness of the timeshare hawkers. We had pre-booked transportation from the airport to the hotel but just to get to it was a hassle. Not what you want to go through after a long plane ride. If I have to mention a negative about the Rose is the fact that our units (we had two ) didn't have a bathtub, only a shower which made bathtime with our grandkids (4 & 2) a challenge. We didn't think to ask as all the hotels we have stayed in always had a tub-shower combination. Maybe it's something that guests should be made aware of at check-in or in the hotel description . But since everything was just wonderful, we managed.

**Book through the hotel website. We got a better deal and it had the all inclusive option.

Let me start by saying I am high to please. I was nervous when we booked the rose due to how inexpensive it was and the fact that we were doing all inclusive for the first time. I actually expected to lose 10 pounds over the week we were there because I was convinced the food would be not up to par. I was so wrong!
The hotel itself is a smaller hotel right on El Medino beach. It is nestled on one of the only safe swimming parts of the beach. The rooms are spacious and clean with balconies that overlook either the ocean/pool or both. (I have included pics) The rooms were quiet and we were never bothered by loud neighbors etc... The hotel has a few large bird cages throughout the property. The birds give the hotel a nice tropical feel and are lovely to wake up to. The hotel is about a 10 min walk to downtown cabo and a 5 min walk to bars on beaches such as the office. The hotels location is one of the best in Cabo.
Every person on the staff was nice and helpful. We never had one rude person. I think that maybe if you did the all inclusive and did not tip the waiters you may not get great service; but if you are the person who thinks all inclusive means you do not tip, you do not deserve any service.
We spent our mornings eating room service which was probably the best room service I have ever had. They have other options but there is nothing like enjoying your breakfast in your pj's on your balcony. The room service was fast (under 45 min) and very good. The all inclusive includes room sevice but there is a $5 charge for room service which is worth every penny. The room service guys were great. They would bring chips and salsa and margaritas in the afternoon, desserts late night. They were great.
In the afternoons we would hang out on the lounge chairs on the beach and we had great waiters who made sure our margarita's were always full and anything we wanted was there in minutes. The beach food is really good too. The fish tacos and sushi were our favoirties. Also, it is not on the menu but I suggest ordering a couple of scoops of ice cream. It is perfect towards the end of the day. The chips and salsa are super good too and I am missing them very much right now. The beach was very close to our room. Everything at the hotel was easy walking distance.
At night we went to either Palomas (at the blanco next door) or Fellini's. Both of these have a 4 course chef tasting menu which is incredibly good. We live in Healdsburg which has some of the best food in California and the food at Paloma's and Fellini's was comparable. You do need to make reservations but if you do it the day before or a few hours you should have no problem. I was stunned that it was part of the all inclusive. Fellini's is a 4 diamond restaurant. We did try the theme night one night and I do have to say I would not suggest that. It was not good and it was mexican night. We did eat out at The Office one night due to rave reviews from our friends and were very dissapointed. It was BAD. The atmosphere and cocktails were great but the food was horrible. I literally had one of the worst pieces of fish in my life there and it is not cheap ($150 and we had 3 drinks). We never should have left the hotel

Regarding sales pitches if you walk around the harbor in Cabo everyone will try to sell you time shares, water activity rentals etc.. It is a little much but if you shake your head and say no thank you, they stop. We were not harassed by anyone in the hotel to buy a timeshare. I guess 2 of the requirements are you have to be married and over 30. We did not wear any jewelery to Mexico including our wedding bands so perhaps that played a role.

The gym is great and uncrowded. It is in the spa but if you do the all inclusive you do not pay to use the gym. There are 6 treadmills, 5 bikes, 6 ellipiticals, free weights and about 25 weight machines as well as a yoga/spinning studio. It is very clean and at most I saw 6 people there at once. They do also have a tennis courts.

At the spa I did a pedicure (perfect), massage (very relaxing) and the crystal reiki treatment (amazing). The total for all three with a 20% tip was under $350. All three were done very well and the spa is beautiful. I was concerned the reiki would be a waste since very few people do that well but was pleasantly surprised. Not a penny wasted.

Overall we had a great stay and have zero complaints. I would do the all inclusive again in a heartbeat. It saved us so much money it was crazy. Keep in mind if you are not all inclusive each drink is at least $10 and the food goes up from there. The all inclusive is a tremendous deal. The hotel was great and our stay was perfect. Good job Rose! We will see you next year.

We stayed at this resort in April and the waiters Heidi and Roberto on the beach were AWESOME!! Also, we stayed on the 1st floor and our maid was Mary and she took the extra effort to make our condo spotless. What a great time!

Room Tip: Always tip USD and walking distance to downtown!
