“Always a good time!”
Reviewed October 9, 2013

We can't visit Cabo without stopping in at least once. We love the vibe, very friendly people and loud music. We always have to buy a cheesy tourist-y t-shirt or two when we are there, but they have beautiful pin up girl artwork on them.

Allison V from the City of Orange, California::

Thank you for naming your review “Always a Good Time!” We do everything possible to insure all our customers have a good time and always leave with a "Happy Ending."

You're fortunate to live in the beautiful city of Orange, California. Originally the community was named "Richland." However, in 1873 the town of Richland had grown large enough to require a post office, so an application was sent to Washington. It was refused, however, because there was, and still is, a town named "Richland" in Sacramento County, California. Undaunted, the residents of Richland proposed the name be changed to "Orange" and it was incorporated as a city. Orange was the only city in Orange County to be planned and built around a plaza. Thus, it earned the nickname Plaza City. Orange was the first developed town site to be served by the California Southern Railroad when the nation's second transcontinental rail line reached Orange County. Orange is unique in that many of the homes in its Old Town District were built prior to 1920; whereas many other cities in the region demolished such houses in the 1960s, Orange decided to preserve them.

Thanks for ALL your nice comments and great recommendations such as "we love the vibe, very friendly people and music." Thank you for always buying at least one Happy Ending logo T-shirt every time you visit. Each T-shirt's logo features a beautiful vintage pinup model who was originally painted in oil in the 1940s or 1950s. They have become the most sought after souvenir T-shirt in Cabo San Lucas.

Please return as soon as you can find the means and free time to do so.

Best wishes for lots and lots of "Good Time" type of Happy Endings to all your hopes and dreams wherever life's journeys might take you.

Gene, "El Jefe," Happy Ending Cantina, Cabo San Lucas, Baja California Sur, Mexico.

Thank you very much for writing such a wonderful Trip Advisor review about Happy Ending. I especially thank you for naming it "The Best in Cabo!" There are so many "great" bars in Cabo from which to choose, but declaring Happy Ending as "The Best" is really a great compliment! Thanks again. I'm happy you and your amigos use Happy Ending as your favorite place to meet.

Thanks for describing our location as being in a "great location." I purchased the vacant lot where Happy Ending is located in 1987. The ONLY restaurant/bar in Downtown Cabo was the Giggling Marlin which opened in 1985. One of the reasons we decided to build Happy Ending on the property 5 years ago was because our property had become the "50-yard line" of all the hot bars and restaurants in Cabo. The "end zone" to our left has Cabo Wabo, Rip's and the Gigglin Marlin, while the "end zone" to our right has Squid Roe, Mandala's, Pink Kitty, Hard Rock, etc. All the other bars are less than a 5 minute walk from Happy Ending....or should I say Happy Ending is less than a 5 minute walk from all the rest! Absolutely no other bars can come even close to matching our always super-low prices or our incredible great service!

Best wishes for lots of "The Best" Happy Endings to all your endeavors, hopes and dreams wherever life's journeys might take you.

Scott B from Los Angeles, California:

You're fortunate to be able to call Los Angeles "home." It's one of the most famous, beautiful and historic areas of the United States. In 1542, Juan Rodríguez Cabrillo, a Portuguese-born explorer, claimed the area of Southern California for the Spanish Empire. In 1769, Spaniards Gaspar de Portolà and Juan Crespí reached the present site of Los Angeles. In 1771, Franciscan Friar Junípero Serra directed the building of the Mission San Gabriel Arcangel, the first mission in the area. Ten years later, on September 4, 1781, Spanish governor Felipe de Neve, and a group of forty-four settlers known as "Los Pobladores," founded and named the tiny pueblo "El Pueblo de Nuestra Señora la Reina de los Angeles del Río de Porciúncula." Translated into English as "The Town of Our Lady the Queen of Angels of the Porciúncula River". The "Queen of Angels" refers to the "Virgin Mary." Two-thirds of the settlers were mestizo or mulatto with a mixture of African, Indigenous and European ancestry. The settlement remained a small ranch town for decades. By 1820 the pueblo's population had increased to about 650 residents. Today, the original pueblo is commemorated in the historic district of Los Angeles Pueblo Plaza and Olvera Street, the oldest part of Los Angeles. In 1821, Los Angeles, most of the Southwest part of the current USA, and all of present day Mexico, became parts of the new country of Mexico following the Mexican War of Independence from Spain. In 1848, at the end of the Mexican-American War, Los Angeles, along with the rest of Alta California, were purchased from Mexico as part of the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo. All became part of the United States. On April 4, 1850, Los Angeles was incorporated as a municipality, a full five months before California achieved its own statehood. Los Angeles is now the second most populous area in the United States after New York.

Thank you for naming your review "Awesome Vibe." Awesome is a powerful word and signifies that Happy Ending is extra special. Our ambiance is frequently described as being similar to that found in neighborhood bars back home....sort of like what is portrayed on the old TV program "Cheers."

I'm very pleased that you happened to "tumble" into Happy Ending during your cruise port call to Cabo San Lucas, and I'm especially pleased that you "fell in love" with Happy Ending.

Thanks for purchasing one of our 20 plus Happy Ending logo T-shirts, the most popular souvenir T-shirts sold in Cabo San Lucas. Each features a vintage pinup originally oil painted in the 1940s or 1950s. Our logos appear on men's T-shirts, women's tops and bottoms, flags, posters and lots of other merchandise. Anyone who wears any Happy Ending logo merchandise inside Happy Ending receives a free double shot of our super-smooth tequila....once each day....forever as long as they wear it inside Happy Ending. They do not need to purchase anything to receive their free shot. It's our way of perpetually thanking them for their patronage.

Best wishes for lots and lots of "Awesome" Happy Endings to all your hopes and dreams wherever life's journeys might take you.

Gene, "El Jefe," Happy Ending Cantina, Cabo San Lucas, Baja California Sur, Mexico.

“Great little bar in downtown cabo”
Reviewed October 7, 2013

Let me start with we visited this place 3 times during our stay & just loved it. They have the drink specials all day & night 2 double shots of tequila & 2 beers for 5.00. They play great music during the day. We heard the song Cabo by Toby Keith so fitting in this place just loved it.The staff are very friendly and you get the feel you are in town. We bought a really cool T shirt too. The place is very close to all the restaurants in town so perfect place to finish up the evening for a drink.

kenla96:

Thanks for naming your review “Great Little Bar in Downtown Cabo.” Happy Ending Cantina is truly a one-of-a-kind bar. Our walls are adorned with vintage tin signs and over 20 Happy Ending logos....each of which features a different reproduction of a beautiful vintage pinup originally painted in the 1940s and 1950s. These same logs are silk screened on T-shirts, women's tops and shorts, posters and lots of other popular souvenir merchandise.

I'm very happy that you returned to Happy Ending so often during your Cabo vacation, especially since there are so many bars from which to choose around town. I'm pleased you enjoyed our REGULAR low drink prices like our "Promo" that consists of 2 ice cold full-size bottles of Corona, Corona Light, Pacifico or Pacifico Light AND 2 double shots of our famous super-smooth tequila for only $5...that's 4 separate drinks for only $5....all the time, today, tomorrow, next week, next month and next year, 365 and 24/7. It's the best deal in the history of mankind!

You wrote that we "play great music during the day" including songs by "Toby Keith." Happy Ending was the first bar in Cabo that chose to play popular soft country music all day instead of blaring electronic obscene rap music.

Thanks for describing our staff as being "very friendly." We have, without a doubt, the friendliest and professional staff in town.

You mentioned that Happy Ending is "very close to all the restaurants in town." In 1987, I purchased the property where Happy Ending is located. The only other restaurant bar in the area back then was the Gigglin Marlin which opened in 1985. Since then all the top bars and restaurants in Cabo have sprung up around Happy Ending. We're now on the "50-yard line." The "end zone" to our left has Cabo Wabo and the Gigglin Marlin while the "end zone" to our right has Squid Roe, Mandela's, Hard Rock, the Pink Kitty and all the other popular restaurant bars.

I really appreciate all the really nice comments and great recommendations you made about Happy Ending. I hope you can return soon.

Best wishes for lots of "Great" Happy Endings to all your endeavors, hopes and dreams wherever life's journeys might find you.

“Can't wait to get back to the Happy Ending”
Reviewed October 6, 2013

My wife and I found this gem a few years ago while in Cabo. We had SUCH a great time we kept going back. When we returned to Cabo the following year this was our first stop - and somehow it was even better.
We arrive this Friday with two of our friends and we cannot wait to show off our favorite place to them. We have even named our backyard the Happy Ending in honour of this location.
This place is fun, relaxed, friendly and fantastic. This is one of the main reasons we return to Cabo as often as we can. Get ready Happy Ending - we are on our way!

Hooked on Happy Ending,
Kevin from Canada

Kevin39 from Toronto, Ontario, Canada:

Thank you for writing your very first Trip Advisor review about Happy Ending Cantina.

You live in Toronto, one of the most modern and beautiful cities on planet Earth. The name "Toronto" is derived from the Iroquois word "tkaronto," meaning "place where trees stand in the water." It refers to the northern end of what is now Lake Simcoe, where the Huron planted tree saplings to corral fish. In the late 18th century, the British established a settlement there and named it "Town of York." The city was ransacked by the Americans in the Battle of York during the War of 1812. In 1834, York was incorporated as a city and renamed Toronto. Toronto is the largest city in Canada and the fifth largest in North America.

Thank you very much for naming your review “Can't Wait to Get Back to the Happy Ending.” The entire crew and I can't wait for you to return this Friday as well. It's great repeat customers like you that make Happy Ending the best and most popular bar in Cabo San Lucas. You've become an official member of our Happy Ending "family."

Thank you for describing Happy Ending as a "gem" and a place that is your first stop when you arrive in Cabo each year. I'm so proud that you enjoy Happy Ending so much that you're bringing two of your amigos with you this year to Happy Ending to "show off your favorite place." You wrote that Happy Ending is "fun, relaxed, friendly and fantastic" and the reason why you return to Cabo "as often" as you can.

I've never heard of anyone else who've named their backyard "The Happy Ending" because they love Happy Ending Cantina so much. Thank you very much for sharing that in your review.

Best wishes for lots and lots of "Can't Wait" type of Happy Endings to all your endeavors, hopes and dreams wherever life's journeys might find you.
