Description: Welcome to 12 TribesCarlos Bonilla Souberbielle, our Executive Chef, would like to welcome you.The creative process applied to our menu will take you through a smorgasbord of flavors, textures and aromas that represent twelve different regions of Mexico; hence, our name. By understanding the local culinary culture of these regions, their ingredients and techniques, our chef creates a different perspective into what we call “Contemporary Mexican Cuisine”. By applying this understanding to his idea of Bohemian Cuisine – an unpretentious composition of different taste profiles – you’ll find a variety of different flavors perfectly balanced in each dish as you move from course to course. Simple appetizers will introduce you to the complexity of our main dishes, where ubiquitous hints of Mexico offer a new perspective on Mexican cooking. Of course, for a perfect ending, our decadent desserts are the perfect way to complement and truly enjoy your 12 Tribes experience.Thank you for joining us on this journey and….Buen provecho!

We went to this restaurant with a group of friends and had a great time! We had a fabulous view as well. The food was so good. For the atmosphere and quality of food the price of the meal was not that expensive. It is a definitely a go back!

“Good but not Great”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 1, 2013

While the view is great and the food is highly touted, it's not the best in Cabo. It is attached to the Casa Dorado hotel which is a really great discovery, this restaurant could use some inspiration and a better chef. The octopus was a special and was well-seasoned but tough. The "pecan pie" or whatever the dessert was came as part of the special dinner as well. First time I ever had coconut in a pecan tartlette. A resort hotel like this deserves a better signature restaurant.

Dear erobe:

Thank you very much for you comment. Be sure that we take all comments to heart and try to do our best to follow up on any issue that might come upon.

We are truly sorry that our food proposal was not up to your standard or what you where expecting. The Octopus dish should not be tough whatsoever and for that mishap I am truly sorry. We indeed try to be a first class restaurant with first class food and service though obviously we were not able to come up to par. We are happy though that you were able to enjoy the exquisite view that our restaurant has.

We do consider that our offering can indeed compete against the best. Believe me when I say that we are not THE best, -not to say that we want to be there- but our culinary proposal could be considered within. In understanding our competition, we showcase some different ideas that are not neccesarily 100% Mexican Food. We show our offering as Contemporary Mexican, being that we play with Mexican ingredients and use them with a different view pont. Such is the case of the pecan pie set up as you well mention; though unfortunately, we were not able to show you these.

We are as creative and inventive as our market allows, use organic, fresh ingredients and even play with the seasons constantly to offer you variety. It would be great if at least we could show you these through our facebook page where we showcase pictures of our culinary offering.

If you where to give us a second chance and wanted to visit us again, I would be delighted to personaly take care of you and would be thankful for the opportunity to show you what we are all about. Please don´t hesitate to contact me at carlos.bonilla@casadorada.com if you so desire to make a reservation again.

Best regards,

Hola Erin M

Thank you very much for you comment. We are glad you enjoyed your 12 Tribes experience with us. As you well mention, our menu changes every three months to accomodate for the seasons and also to give our guests more options. Some of the mainstay ítems, such as the Chilean Sea Bass or the Rack of Lamb have become favorites, so next time you come by, you´ll see that those have stayed, though with other options to choose from. We´ll keep you interested, that´s for sure!

Again, thank you very much for your comment and we hope to see you in the near future once again at 12 Tribes!

Best Regards,

“A Very Impressive Restaurant”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 24, 2013

After 7 great days in Cabo San Lucas at the Casa Dorado resort, I want to say how impressed I was with the food and service at the 12 Tribes Restaurant. The menu provided a great selection, but the food quality, the presentation, and the ambiance of the evenings were simply the best. The food flavors were exciting and the recommended wine selection with each entree were perfect. Our 7 evenings at 12 Tribes were perfect.

Hola Ed5500

Thank you very much for you comments. We are glad you had a great 12 Tribes experience and especially that you were able to notice the quality of our ingredients. We pride ourselves in the produce that we use, the fresh meats we import and the local fish that we use and we are very happy it showed during your stay.

I am personally glad that you were able to enjoy our restaurant during your seven day stay and that you constantly found something new to try. This is one of the reasons why we always have our daily specials, in addition to our regular menú. We like to keep our guests interested and I´m glad we were able to do this with you.

Again, thank you very much for your comments and we hope we can see you soon in your next vacation in Cabo!

Best regards,

“Superb”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 17, 2013

We vacation in Cabo San Lucas every year and we always visit 12 Tribes at least once during our trip. The food and service was superb. I ordered the Asparagus salad and it was so delicious. I was very impressed with the presentation and the roasted beet sauce that accompanies the dish. My husband had the tortilla soup (a favorite of his) and he too really enjoyed it. I had the blackened tuna which was perfectly spiced, while the rest of my family dined on the beef filet or steak. Everyone was very satisfied with their meals. Of course we all left a little room for Churros, a traditional Mexican dessert, that is to die for. My only disappointment is the loud music coming from the Mango deck. This might have been due to this is the same week that the college kids all descend on Cabo, but I found it really took away from the ambiance. That being said, if we had booked our reservation for 7:30 or 8pm, we would not have had the intrusion. Seems it shuts down around 8 pm. Anyway, on this evening 12 Tribes had a saxaphone player that just set the ambiance and made the remaining evening a memorable event. If you want to have an early reservation, may I suggest requesting a table on the deck adjacent to the main dining hall. I think it is far enough away from the Mango Deck and the view is spectacular. One more thing, we had one individual in our party allergic to peppers (of all the allergies to have), The restaurant was very accomodating and she had the most delicious chicken noodle soup. Her main course was the beef fillet.

Hola DeerParkMom!

Please receive a warm thank you from all of us at 12 Tribes. We are glad that you were able to enjoy 12 Tribes as we do every day.

We are specially fond of the fact that even though we had an issue with music around our restaurant, you were still able to enjoy not only the food, but also the great service we offer and the view from our terrace. You are indeed right on in suggesting to have a table in this area. The view is quite breathtaking and in the company of your loved ones, it makes for a night to remember.

We hope we can see you soon at 12 Tribes and please, do not hesitate in getting in touch with me for any of your dining needs. We try to be as accomodating to our guests as possible, especially when it comes to allergies or food restrictions. My email, carlos.bonilla@casadorada.com. It will be a pleasure serving you again.
