Description: Cocina del Mar is known for its exquisite variety of fresh fish and seafood specialties. It utilizes only the freshest possible ingredients offered by La Baja, offering a light, simple, casual and progressive menu. We would call Baja, coastal, seafood restaurant concept. Is the best place for guests, owners and local visitors to celebrate life, love and friendship in a unique seating that maximizes views of the Sea of Cortez. Cocina del Mar embodies the simplicity and elegance of natural & fresh dining, the restaurant focuses on the pure essence of taste, with a genuine passion for providing an opportunity to slow down and indulge in a dining experience carefully crafted for the mind, body, and soul. Featuring local fare presented in a vibrant ─ bare style, such as tuna crudo ─ jicama taquitos or perfectly ripe heirloom tomatoes with tomatillo salsa. Along the menu a selection of local, seasonal, sustainable and organic ingredients; such as simple grilled grouper with a ripe-raw tomato sauce or small progressive bites offered directly at the table, create a freshly and wholesome concept. CDM cuisine is based on the product of the coast of Baja California, where Cortez Sea local ingredients are the stars along with seasonal fresh organic vegetables from Cabo’s near small towns. This Cuisine is highly inspired by Mexican flavors. A menu inspired in seasonal and locally grown ingredients full of Mexican flavors with some Mediterranean hints. A selection of appetizers from an Abalone with green tomatillo sauce, to fresh oysters with passion fruit ─ light spicy cocktail sauce. The Chef highlights the wide selection of La Baja ingredients, resulting dishes such as roasted octopus with peppers, avocado and toasted white corn or al pastor totoaba with annatto seed sauce and grilled pineapple. Cocina del Mar is already known for showing a real empathy with those vegetarian trend healthy eaters who can enjoy an oven beet salad with hibiscus vinaigrette or a pan roasted eggplant with pico de gallo and cilantro.

The top end restaurant is actually more reasonable in any ways than the casual La Palapa. The view is stunning. Sit outside by overlooking the sea. We were there on a windy and cooler night so panchos and heaters were provided. The fixed price menu is $68 for three courses and $72for four. The selections and presentations are outstanding. The fish is especially well prepared. Esperanza has a high end wine list (so high you might think it is in pesos) but we took our own. We were told that the corkage fee was $20 and were charged $25 by a mildly displeased waiter but it is their rule. Generally great service (but for that beginning), superb food and unbeatable ambience and views. A stunning evening. Not cheap but not overpriced at $550 all in for dinner for four including three bottles of wine, two of which we took.

Dear Ken H,

Regards from windy but sunny Esperanza! Crazy last couple of days for this time of the year, right? Thank you for taking the time for sharing your experience at Cocina del Mar, much appreciated!

Please accept our apologies for the misunderstanding regarding our corkage fee (residencial users) that actually is of $25, I'm sure it was a miss communication with your Concierge, however I can see a poor judgment of our waiter who argued for $5, I understand your displeasure due I'm sure it was the fact instead of the amount. We will reinforce their empowerment to solve on a better way these situations.

Thnank you again for your time and feedback. Looking forward to see you soon down here.

Warmest regards,

The service, the setting, and the cuisine are top-notch. Incredible dinner experience! Even better was the attention to food allergies - it's such a relief to have a nice dinner without worrying about getting sick. : )

This was the final night of our stay in Cabo andwe wanted special for our group of 8. The Esperanza resort is one of the most beautiful anywhere. When you get to the entranceand walk out on the deck, you truly gasp in wonder at the beauty. The resort is built on the water, part of it being rocky cliffs. Cocina del Mar, is levels of rock going over the ocean, and the candlelight and flame heaters make the scene when the sun goesdown just georgeous. The secret is to arrive early to see thewhole setting before it is dark..we had drinks at the bar, and it was so special!!! The drinks were fabulous! I had a Guava Mojito that was amazing. One person had a Ginger Margarita that was also so uniquly great. We moved on to another tablelooking over the ocean crashing on the rocks for dinner.
The menu is Prixe Fix, 68 for 3 courses, 77 for 4. We decided to get 4 three courses, and 4 three courses. I wish I could say there was one dish that stoodout to rave about, but no. The food was good, but aside from different( I ate Parrot Fish for the first time), no one raved. At the beginning of the meal they took orders for anyone who wanted souffle for dessert. We ordered,
and began our meal. After the main course, the souffles came out, but they hadn't taken the order for the other desserts. One of our party stopped the waiter and asked about coffee, and brought her coffee and her choice of dessert, but there were still 2 more people. At the end, a waiter delivered a happy birthday dessert with a wonderful flaming presentation to me, but I had already ordered a dessert..if I had nown I would have had an appetizer course. The servicewas confusing. I will say..I wouldn't pass onthe experience of Esperanza, but next time I would do lunch or eat at the grill .

Ivan and his staff at Cocina del Mar helped me plan the most perfect proposal for my girlfriend. Not only did they set up a Private dinner on the Beach with candles, roses and torches surrounding the table, but they made the most incredible dinner setting for 16 of our family and friends following the surprise! The food was incredible, the view was even better than the food, and to top it all off...fireworks went off over our head while we were eating. I would very highly recommend this restaurant as one of the very best in Cabo if you are looking for one of those A+ atmospheres to dine.

We stopped by for lunch and were delighted that we did. The food and drinks were excellent but the cliffside dining and the outstanding view caused us to linger much longer than it took to finish our meal. A totally relaxing experience that was thoroughly enjoyed.
