Description: Cocina del Mar is known for its exquisite variety of fresh fish and seafood specialties. It utilizes only the freshest possible ingredients offered by La Baja, offering a light, simple, casual and progressive menu. We would call Baja, coastal, seafood restaurant concept. Is the best place for guests, owners and local visitors to celebrate life, love and friendship in a unique seating that maximizes views of the Sea of Cortez. Cocina del Mar embodies the simplicity and elegance of natural & fresh dining, the restaurant focuses on the pure essence of taste, with a genuine passion for providing an opportunity to slow down and indulge in a dining experience carefully crafted for the mind, body, and soul. Featuring local fare presented in a vibrant ─ bare style, such as tuna crudo ─ jicama taquitos or perfectly ripe heirloom tomatoes with tomatillo salsa. Along the menu a selection of local, seasonal, sustainable and organic ingredients; such as simple grilled grouper with a ripe-raw tomato sauce or small progressive bites offered directly at the table, create a freshly and wholesome concept. CDM cuisine is based on the product of the coast of Baja California, where Cortez Sea local ingredients are the stars along with seasonal fresh organic vegetables from Cabo’s near small towns. This Cuisine is highly inspired by Mexican flavors. A menu inspired in seasonal and locally grown ingredients full of Mexican flavors with some Mediterranean hints. A selection of appetizers from an Abalone with green tomatillo sauce, to fresh oysters with passion fruit ─ light spicy cocktail sauce. The Chef highlights the wide selection of La Baja ingredients, resulting dishes such as roasted octopus with peppers, avocado and toasted white corn or al pastor totoaba with annatto seed sauce and grilled pineapple. Cocina del Mar is already known for showing a real empathy with those vegetarian trend healthy eaters who can enjoy an oven beet salad with hibiscus vinaigrette or a pan roasted eggplant with pico de gallo and cilantro.

It was a beautifully decorated & designed restaurant with a very nice view. If i would do it again i would order multiple appetizers as my main course. They were delicious! My entree (ahi tuna) was a disappointment taste wise

“Cuisine on the cliffs”
Reviewed November 24, 2013

My wife and I were recently guests at Las Ventanas al Paraiso in Cabo San Lucas celebrating our 35th wedding anniversary. I want to emphasize guests. For those of you that have not experienced the hospitality and service at one of the top Mexican resorts, you will not find its equal anywhere. Always pleasant and even (uncomfortably ) at your service the staff at the hotels and restaurants work very hard to insure that your stay is worry and obstruction free and they do this as pleasantly and effortlessly as the phrases Mucho gusto and De nada suggest. I would also call your attention to Mexican cuisine. I realize that for many this seems an anathema but you will be more than surprised to find subtle, beautifully prepared and presented dishes that will challenge all of your preconceptions of Mexican food. In addition to The Restaurant at Las Ventanas where we also had the pleasure of experiencing a cooking class with Chef Fabrice, we had dinner at Cocina del Mar at Esperanza. Esperanza is part of a larger development that becomes very intimate once you enter the restaurant. You are seated high up on the cliffs overlooking the dramatic stage of the ocean crashing against the black rocks below. Hard to imagine a more beautiful setting. The food is skillfully prepared with subtle suggestions of the Mexican spices and flare. The wait staff is at your service in the friendly and good humored way that I find unique to Mexico. They seem genuinely happy to see you and to have you as their guest as if you were in their homes. Esperanza adds a very clever technological twist with an extensive global wine list displayed on an iPad and more uniquely, backlit paper menus that eliminate the need for iPhone flashlights to order. If you venture to Cabo, please don’t miss either of these experiences.

“Just ok...”
Reviewed November 11, 2013

We were staying at another of the 5 star properties in cabo and wanted to experience a nice dinner outside of our resort( our resort was amazing , by the way) our concierge suggested Cocina del mar, the view was beautiful but the service nor the food were up to our expectations! Mediocre at best and very expensive for what you get... Not impressed

“Want”
Reviewed November 10, 2013

This was the third time (3 years in a row) at this restaurant. After discovering Cocina del Mar at the Esperanza Resort as the place we want to celebrate our wedding anniversary each year we have have been looking forward to an occasion to share the experience. Dinner on the cliffs, sunset, outstanding service, and food and presentation makes this restaurant an memorable "experience". Our friends were totally impressed. They had heard me brag about this place, and perhaps after my hype they were a bit skeptical, but they came away thanking us for taking them there. I was telling them that this pace is as good as it gets Cabo wise. It is a bit out of the way but a $20 taxi rides gets you there. There are two security gates. The security has your name from the restaurant reservations. TAKE YOUR CAMERA! and get there before sunset. Get there early if possible and you can always have a drink at the bar. I would have a drink at the table.
All the waiters speak English and stand bye for an experience of a lifetime. The Esperanza Resort is probably a 5***** experience and its a bit pricey. But once a year, it is worth the experience. On the way home, they have taxis on stand bye.

“Cocina del Mar at Esperanza resort”
Reviewed November 4, 2013

This is one of the most dramatic settings that I have ever seen in a restaurant! We ate there late at night and were seated on a rock ledge that extended out over the ocean the waves splashed against the rocks below and were illuminated by lighting and made the experience very romantic. Bring a pen light or your iPhone because there are lots of steps and it is not well lit, but definitely worth a visit. Food was very good, but pricey.
