We stayed two nights, and would like to return to this lovely place. The location is great with a breathtaking view over Loch Fyne. The staff is friendly and very serviceminded. The food should be worth a star in the Michelin guide. We didn't hear or see any ghosts, but the spirit of the former owners (the MacLeans) is still present.

We really enjoyed this place. It's in a lovely setting and the staff are very friendly and keen to help. It is very clean with good quality furnishings and has a warm cosy feel despite the rooms being spacious. The food was also good both for dinner and breakfast - although we would like fresh fruit with breakfast. We paid the dinner bed and breakfast rate and thought it was good value. We would definitely go back.

Room Tip: We stayed in Room 12 which had it's own little sitting/TV room

We booked a dbb package via 5pm for one night.

Welcome/check-in was great - really friendly.

The room was spacious, with a breathtaking view down Loch Fyne; there is a similar view from the residents' lounge - a real touch of class, with an excellent selection of books (far better than on the 2800 passenger Celebrity Solstice, for instance).

Dinner was served in the bar as it was low season. Good local ingredients, well-cooked (the fish was brilliant), washed down with the local Real Ale. Super!

The disappointment was breakfast; it was served in the main dining room, with a loch view again.
Although it was cooked to order, my full Scottish was nearly charred - it had obviously been sitting under a hotplate for some time. As there were only about four tables in use, there is little excuse for this. My wife's poached egg had been cooked with a dash of vinegar to aid setting, but it ruined the taste.

Would we recommend it - certainly, if the breakfast staff get their act together.

Room Tip: The loch view rooms on the first floor are superb. You should be able to get a reasonable deal out of high season.

This fine old inn was once owned by the late British diplomat and writer Sir Fitzroy MacLean. We stayed in a large, handsome second floor room with several windows overlooking Loch Fyne. A big residents' lounge next door had comfortable chairs and books and even better views of the lake. Dinner in the bistro featured well-cooked local seafood. Breakfast was served in the inn dining room (closed at night in mid-week April), which again had that stunning lake view, and the Scottish fare was excellent. Very sweet and helpful young Scottish staff.

Room Tip: Our room just beyond the resident's lounge is very spacious with a stunning view,

I'd been looking for a decent hotel for a 1 night stay but needed to find somewhere that allowed dogs. Creggans Inn is in a wonderful setting across the road from the banks of beautiful Loch Fyne. The only fault I have is with the price. I paid £80pp for b&b with an extra £7.50 for the dog. To be fair, the room could not be faulted....it certainly lived up to its "superior" billing, and enjoyed a fabulous view out over the loch. But £160 is too much. I would suggest £60-65pp would have been more reasonable. The breakfast, like the room, could not be faulted. There was an abundance of choice and the scrambled egg and salmon I enjoyed were lovely. Well worth a stay.

Room Tip: Go for the lochside view, although it can be pricey.
