We got a last-minute room at Inn at the Pier after leaving the cottage we were supposed to rent because it was filthy. We got a great deal on the room and had a lovely evening at the hotel--they really saved us! The proprietor was extremely friendly and bent over backwards to make sure we were comfortable. The room was nice (although I'd say it was more like a 3-star than 4-star room), clean, and a pretty good size. The continental breakfast in the morning was also great, with quite a bit of selection. We didn't use the pool or hot tub, but they looked clean, as well. Overall, a great place to stay.

My wife and I have vacationed in Prince Edward Island seven times including our first visit (our honeymoon) in 1995. We have stayed in a lovely B&B, an adequate house-keeping cottage, and Inn at the Pier, which is our favorite. The inn is situated on New London Bay, just a few miles SW of Cavendish's beaches, parks, and other attractions, which makes it convenient while still providing an excellent view.

We highly recommend a suite on the north side of the inn, as it faces the bay. (It's an island, so I'm assuming here that you'd rather see the water than the land.) I prefer the 2nd floor view, but the 1st floor does have the advantage of a door that opens directly onto the back patio.

The Larkin family, owners and operators of the inn, are almost always around during the summer, and their staff are also very charming and helpful. Dale Larkin runs the water sports part of the business (kayaking, parasailing, etc.) and is typically out on the boat during the day, but he's never too busy to sit and have a beer with you in the evening and talk about the Island, your vacation... whatever.

We typically spend 1.5-2 weeks on PEI and prefer to lodge in one location and make day trips to whatever we want to see. (You can drive the entire length of the Island in 4 hours, so there's not that much of a point to hotel hopping.) Anyway, we, therefore, like a roomy suite with amenities, and Inn at the Pier definitely provides that (as well as smaller rooms for those just popping in for a short stay). Our suite is always very clean -- Canada Clean, I like to call it -- and boasts a large whirlpool tub, a king-size bed, a sitting area, and a kitchenette.

The kitchenette, by the way, includes a sink, mini-fridge, microwave, and a complete supply of utensils and dishes. There is even a grill on the deck, so you can bring back some steaks from the grocer in nearby Cavendish and enjoy them in your room.

Speaking of meals, Dale prepares a wonderful breakfast, which is included in certain packages (or offered at a modest charge). If you're in a hurry and/or on a budget, though, there's also a continental breakfast available.

We'll probably never stay anywhere else on PEI now that we've experienced Inn at the Pier. That's not to say that there aren't plenty of other good lodging experiences there, but my wife and I like to stick with a good thing once we've found it. It provides a great view, convenient access to the beaches and shops near Cavendish, proximity to some of the Island's loveliest scenic drives, and a homey feeling we just don't experience in other places.

My husband and I stayed here our last two nights on PEI. The hotel had a nice location, if you had a view of the water from your room, but was much like a chain hotel. While the owners were friendly, we felt that the accomodations weren't worth the price we paid for them. For $140 (can) per night before taxes, the rooms were like any roadside motel you might stay in, and the cheapest rooms (like we had) had a view of the parking lot. They advertised a continental breakfast, but I wouldn't even call it that. It consisted of a few bags of bagels and english muffins, cereal and orange juice and coffee. We got there about halfway through the two hours that breakfast was served and there was hardly anything left, not even plates! Needless to say it didn't seem that they replenished any of the food throughout the two hour breakfast period. We completely skipped it the next day. The inn did have a pool and a hot tub though, which was nice, and the deck out back had a nice view of the water. Overall the rooms were clean and the staff friendly, we just didn't think that it was worth the high prices. Our money would have been better spent elsewhere.

Our prices never changed since 2007. We operate seasonally and are like no other property in the Cavendish Resort Area.
-Water Front
-Marina with boat tours, para sailing, sea doo rentals, kayak rentals
-heated out door pool and hot-tub
-licensed water front Dock Side Family Restaurant
-close to golf,beaches,restaurants and attractions
We strive to continue to surpass our guest expectations but we don`t pretend to be the downtown luxury hotel with everything on site.We are a local family owned country inn that is very comfortable and clean (and only 12 years old) that has many satisfied guest. For that we are great-full. Dale
