“Pure enchantment!”

My husband and I stayed at Cliff Waters for 4 nights, to celebrate our 30th anniversary. We were looking for something special and off the beaten track. We had always wanted to explore Nova Scotia and this was the perfect opportunity.

When I found Cliff Waters on TripAdvisor, l knew I had found just the right place. The photos and the reviews captivated me immediately. They were unlike any I had ever seen. It was clear that everyone who had stayed at Cliff Waters had been bewitched and were reluctant to leave!

The "cottage" sits on a hill overlooking the St. Lawrence, and the view of the sunsets from the deck are breathtaking. The cottage itself is lovely - cozy, with warm human touches, all the amenities we needed, and comfortable furniture, including the queen-size bed. There was a sweet welcome card and wildflower bouquet waiting for us on the kitchen counter. You feel as though you are staying in the cottage of a thoughtful friend.

If you enjoy cooking, as I do, you will find what you need to prepare your own meals - after shopping locally for provisions. There are also good restaurants and coffee shops nearby. Niki's list of resources is not only invaluable it is also brautifully written!

There is so much surrounding natural beauty that you could be perfectly content to spend your entire time in the immediate area, but it is well worthwhile to take advantage of driving or walking along the nearby Cabot Trail, taking an excursion to the summer home of Alexander Graham Bell in Baddeck, or going on a whale watch, to name a few of the many possible adventures.

Finally, but certainly not least of all, there are not enough accolades for Niki and Jeremy, the owners of Cliff Waters, or for their 2 young children. They are some of the most genuinely kind, charming, sparkling, and warm-hearted people we have ever met. Unforgettable. Which could also have been the title of this review!

“Unforgettable honeymoon in paradise!”
Reviewed August 10, 2016 for a stay in August 2016

We spent 4 nights in this beautiful cottage enjoying fresh air, gorgeous views, epic sunsets, cozy campfires, peace and quiet. The cottage is clean, spacious, relaxing and functional. Love the full kitchen, washer/dryer, huge deck, comfy bed and very nice bathroom. It provides you with plenty of privacy and isolation, yet you are close to all the area attractions (hiking, whale watching, national parks, great seafood, etc). Also, you are provided with wifi and a landline phone (free long distance in Canada and the U.S.) We didn't mind not having cell service one bit! Great to truly unplug and relax. The cottage owners Niki and Jer are amazing hosts, we were truly wow'd by our experience. We fell in love with the village of Pleasant Bay (we didn't want to leave!). When staying at Cliff Waters you are just a few minutes away from the Rusty Anchor (great food and drinks!), a gift shop with delicious ice cream cones, a general store and more. Cliff Waters was the perfect honeymoon location! Our only regret was not staying longer. :)

“Lovely Cottage Overlooking the Gulf of St. Lawrence”
Reviewed August 19, 2015 for a stay in June 2015

The cottage was on a hill overlooking the Gulf of St. Lawrence. It was very comfortable and well equipped with everything you could need. We ate breakfast in the cottage every day and the location was perfect for exploring Cape Breton National Park. It was also a short drive to The Rusty Anchor, a great local restaurant. We were quite cozy in the cottage on a very rainy day. The owners are most gracious and accommodating.

First - we were greeted warmly and kindly by the owner!!!!! The place itself is unbelievable...it sits on a hillside and is so quiet and beautiful....great views of the Bay of St. Lawrence and the surrounding mountain landscape. We were so impressed with all the amenities in the house. This is a definite place to stay for any vacationers that want something out of the norm. We plan to go back and stay at this same place 2 years from now. What else can I say....5 stars is not enough.....you definitely have to check this out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is a beautiful little cottage in Pleasant Bay, north of the Cape Breton Highlands National Park. The view from the deck is to die for, looking west over the Gulf of St. Lawrence, directly into the sunset. Lots of hiking nearby. Good whale-watching. Most importantly, solitude. The owners are very friendly and helpful. I recommend it highly.
