Stopped at this motel while on our adventure through the Cabot Trail. Great place to stay! Staff are super friendly and accommodating, home cooked food and nightly dinner specials were yummy!

Rooms are clean and perfect for sleeping in after a long day of hiking or whale watching. Staff was incredibly knowledgeable about the area around, from advice on which whale tours to take and which trails to hike. Wifi was also great as cell reception around the area was sporadic.

We made it just in time to get a room here for 2 nights as after we booked our room they were completely sold out. Incredibly friendly staff, delicious food and a great view and quick drive to the water front in Pleasant Bay for tours.

Beds were comfortable, tv worked great and I even commented that the shower was one of the best ones I have had in a hotel room in a LONG time! We really only spent time in our room for sleeping and I would return in a heartbeat.

When this place was built, it was like any other strip motel around, but years of wear and tear and VERY few upgrades have left this place needing work! The toilet was loose on the floor (not to mention the floor around it feeling like a sponge when stepped on), the sink falling off the wall and taking a shower with water pressure and temperature having a mind of its own! (literally, freezing one minute, scalding the next!) Other than that, the room was very clean and the beds comfortable. The place is OLD, but was clean so good enough for me. T.V had 1 channel I could find, so much for "satellite". Internet worked OK. Would not stay here again, might consider the other motel in Plesant bay. Ate breakfast here the next morning, not much selection but very good food. oh, and I forgot to mention for all the people who like to take their time in the morning, that check out time is 10:00 AM!

The best thing I can say is that the views are outstanding and the staff are friendly. This is a very basic hotel and I suspect that your experience here depends on which room you get. I agree it is nice to have fresh laundry and it was pretty clean. However it is very sorely in need of updating - the bathroom caulking was gross, the wallpaper peeling, the curtains inadequate for privacy. The pillows stank of mould and felt like crumbled foam, and the mattress lemme with a sore back for days. One one hand it was nice it was so simple, feeling like you were on 60's movie set, and it gave a real sense of getting away from it all, but on the other hand it was annoying being in a motel room with no facilities, no coffee maker and having to dress and walk all the way to the restaurant for a cup of tea. The t.v. was unusable which is a good or bad thing, depending on how you look at it. For the price and amenities, I'd save the $100 and maybe camp the next time.

Room Tip: I think there is some variety in the facilities. Try asking if you can see the room before paying.

We stayed here one night. We were travelling with a kid and were checked into a queen room. There was a cot like sofa so we converted that into our kids bed with sheets. Room was average, clean and nothing to write home about. We were only going to stay a night so weren't expecting anything more. The showers next morning were interesting though. The hot water is really hot - even with cold coming through at the same time. So the water would spike to extreme hotness sporadically during a bath. The restaurant is average. We just had breakfast there and stuck to the regular breakfast items like eggs and toast. Would recommend this place for a short stay or if you are passing through this area.

My husband and I just came back from Cape Breton. We had a wonderful time, whale watching, exploring the area. The ladies at the restaurant were great to us. They cooked our fresh crabs for us. The meals were good. Our cottage was cute, nicer than I expected. I wouldn't complain about the cell phone reception or the tv. We were there to relax. We will be back!

Yes, it was a mountain view... all around... very nice! The room, with a shower that trickled, no phone, no cell phone reception, the TV you had to subscribe to... didn't, so do not know how much if any it costs to watch the news. The room, with ac, but didn't kick out too much cold air. It was clean, but then also had this uncertain "cleaning" smell. Also, do not expect any kind of discount, either military, senior, CAA, nothing!! There is no free continental breakfast, or even a toast and coffee. With the lack of all the above, it was still over $100 with tax... They do have their own restaurant and small gift store, did not eat there, so unable to comment on their food.
