Description: The Sea Shanty Beach Cafe is uniquely situated right on the beach in Branscombe; an area of outstanding natural beauty between Beer and Sidmouth on the Jurassic coast. We offer a relaxed eating atmosphere with sea views, serving traditional home made food, cakes and cream teas. We are family and dog friendly and also have a sheltered courtyard garden, for the more blustery days. Our well stocked shop has everything that you need for a day at the beach and more. Takeaway food and drinks also available if you would prefer to try our home made pasties on the seagull free beach instead.

“Not very friendly staff”
Reviewed March 11, 2013 via mobile

We went on a very blustery day to get in the warm. The place was cold we sat with coats and scarves on the whole time. The coffee was lukewarm, the hot chocolate lukewarm. Hubby had soup, tasted good but not a lot in the bowl and half a slice of bread. I had an egg sandwich which was served with salad, which was good. The staff not very friendly,I tried to make conversation, but nothing forthcoming in reply! Dont think we will be returning in a hurry.

“Gone downhill”
Reviewed January 23, 2013

Myself and my family have been going to Branscombe for over 35 years so we have often visited the Sea Shanty tea rooms and shop. This last year we were all so disappointed with the new management. The food is overpriced and the selection in the shop has halved. We used to nip down to the shop for croissants in the morning....no longer available. We bought milk and other provisions...not now at ridiculous prices. A real shame as I like to support businesses but not when they are just being greedy.

“The locals do not go here anymore! Its too expensive”
Reviewed January 8, 2013

3 bacon baps, 3 coffees = £20.00 - a complete rip off and really not worth a visit anymore, sad because this was a lovely cafe when the previous tenants ran it.

“unhelpful and expensive”
Reviewed January 2, 2013

We walked to the Seashanty on New Years Day, a lovely day and a lovely walk let down by the experience of the Sea Shanty. We joined the queue at 2.45 for a bowl of soup, got to the till at 3.05 to be told no hot food after 3.00pm. Un helpful and unaccommodating when we stated we had been queing since 2.45. £ 10.00 later for some avarage tea and a slice of cake. We shall take a flask on our walk next time.

“After a long beautiful walk stopped for breakfast - disappointed”

We had the breakfast bacon and egg baps which cost £ 4.80 each, we thought they were very overpriced for their size
