“wonderful wedding celebration !”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 1, 2013

i am writing this for my mum, who held my brothers wedding reception here on 10th August ..A wonderful venue especially for our Russian visitors to give them a taste of an English country pub.
The staff were all attentive and helpful and the food was excellent. Simon in particular brought the whole day together for us and his attention to detail could not be faulted,
All our guests were happy with the reception and our photographer commented this was the best function he had attended in many years .
Thanks to you all, you make a great team . Shirley and Alan .

We were staying just around the corner from here so had frequented it quite a bit for a pint and some chunky chips, but went for proper lunch here too.
We had a ploughmans and salmon sandwich with chunky chips between three. Food was delicious, huge variety in the ploughmans and not just a huge of salad to make it look more.
Staff were lovely, tables quickly cleared to discourage too many wasps, very clean high chair.

We arrived back just a few days ago after visiting the Masons Arms in Branscombe Devon and what a lovely little gem of a hotel this is.The owners not only have a super hotel with the most amazing character but also have an amazing pub combined selling all sorts of wonderful ale ( big tick from my husband ). We loved everything about our stay. We were so lucky in getting an amazing few days of great weather too. As stated in all of the literature the hotel is very oldy worldy however the bedrooms are bright, modern clean and fresh with nice touches throughout ( full sized hospitality shampoo's body lotions ( and there were even more freebies too ) which is a first for us and a very welcome gesture, it is these fine details that made the difference and this very high standard we felt was themed throughout our stay. Attentive, friendly staff, excellent food,( first class breakfast ) fine dining if you wanted it or eat in the bar should you choose. This accommodation offered a really comfortable bed, good food, excellent beer, good choice of wines served by friendly easygoing staff - Tick tick tick. Well done Masons Arms we'll certainly visit again.

Accommodation fine, dog friendly which is a big plus for us, but writing this review to remark upon the quality of the food, stayed for 2 nights, breakfast superb, evening meals, best ever! Well cooked, presented beautifully and portions just right, reasonably priced too. Not often you can mark 10/10 for pub grub, but the Masons Arms deserves it
PS Good house wine and real ales too. Recommend Summa That!

We have been eating here on and off for 10 years as part of our Beer-Branscombe-Beer walk which has to be one of the best scenic coastal walks anywhere. Sunday lunch of roast beef was £12.50 with all the usual vegetables etc. For the first time we felt let down; the parsnips were undercooked, while the roast potatoes would appear to have been hanging around for some time.
Maybe it was just an off day but such a contrast with the previous visit, 18 months earlier. Not good value.

This was our 3rd stay; we have had the same room each time & it has been refurbished between our visits. The hotel is a picturesque thatched building in a lovely, peaceful location near to the sea. One can eat either in the pub area or in the quieter more formal dining room; there is a good choice of dishes & the food is excellent. The staff were good - friendly & helpful especially Michael who carried our bags to our room, managed to get us a table in spite of the dining room being already fully booked & refused to accept a tip ! The only problem with service was one day when one of the staff had gone off sick at the last moment & those working had difficulty coping - couldn't keep up with orders & table clearing.
I would certainly recommend a stay at this hotel & would happily return for a 4th time !
N.B. No mobile phone reception so no chance of irritating phones calls in the bar or dining room !

Room Tip: Rooms in the row of cottages across the car park from the main building are quiet & peaceful &am...

This hotel is in the most perfect Devon setting and Branscome is a most attractive little village with lots of history and near to the beach. The building is very old and has lots of atmosphere, and the service at The Masons Arms is friendly, helpful, and efficient. The food at breakfast was about the best I have ever had and our room, which was in one of the cottages was large, comfortable and spotlessly clean. The views from our window were spectacular.
The grounds are kept beautifully and there is parking for all residents, which is very handy in an area where parking in narrow lanes would be impossible.
Would really highly recommend.
