What a marvellously positioned hotel in a fascinating and beautiful part of France; up the mountain to the Cirque of Gavarnie and down to Luz with a beautiful church. Gedre has a good Tourist Information Office with knowledgeable staff and an excellent display. Odile and Philippe Pujo have a friendly, courteous and efficient team at the hotel. Clean rooms, delicious meals with local specialities and a relaxing atmosphere. I was with a group of naturalists and many moths, butterflies, flowers, birds and mammals were found. Whilst the Toye area has suffered from floods that turned small streams into torrents and swept away trees, bridges, campsites, roads, riverbanks and homes, the authorities are working hard on repairs. Highly recommended. Thanks Odile and Phillipe.

From the moment we arrived to when we left Phillipe, Odille & their staff could not have been more helpful and attentive to ensuring we had a superb time. The room was lovely with a view over the valley to the Breche de Roland. The meals were good, highlights being the bbq lamb chops and the do it yourself beef! Breakfasts were ample and had a good variety. We would definitely use this hotel again. Certainly well above your average logis!

Room Tip: Rooms 3,4,5 have views over the valley.

I stayed here on a Naturetrek holiday to the Pyreenees exploring the valleys and mountains of the area.
The room was very comfortable, lovely white cotton sheets, ensuite, speedy lift to third floor.
The meals were very good, especially the BBQ lamb chops.
A relaxing per dinner drink in the bar, and good local wines.

Room Tip: Double with balcony overlooking the valley

We spent two nights at the hotel and had a consistently good experience. Our room had a view of the mountains, was modern and clean and of modest size. The restaurant was good, we had two dinners there. The menu was varied and focussed on regional specialities. Madame Pujo is a good amd welcoming hotelier. The hotel is affiliated with Logis de France, a network of family run hotels that meet a fairly rigorous selection criteria. This hotel meets them all. Booked via booking.com. We would definitely seek this hotel out again if we were I'm the area.

The hotel was one of the best of the trip. The facilities are new and clean, beautiful simple decor, with excellent and corteous service. Breakfast was great, and we were very comfortable in the room. Location was perfect for exploring the Cirque of Gavarnie since this town is much smaller and quiet than Gavarnie, still with beautiful mountain views. Ample parking, good location. No complaints and would stay here again.

We stayed here as we were retracing the steps of my grandparents using their holiday diary in 1929 - they had, in fact, stayed in the Hotel Pyrenees in Gedre, which I thought looked a bit sad. This family owned hotel has been totally re-built apparently, so all is in great condition and the view from bedroom window is lovely. Breakfast was fine. Would have preferred a simpler menu in the restaurant, but dinner was ok too. Only small gripe was that I would have liked a smile or two from the management, and perhaps a kind enquiry as to whether all was well - the normal friendliness that makes that big difference. That said, I would recommend!

Room Tip: Rooms at front are over the road, but as there is so little traffic, it doesn't matter

We are glad that you enjoyed your stay at the hotel. If you had requested something lighter for supper we would have been pleased to oblige.
I am unsure about the lack of a smile and failure to enquire if all was well. As you can see from other entries on the site correspondents usually compliment us on our friendliness and hospitality. I can only apologise and suggest that we must have had one of our rare bad days. Like most people, we do have them occasionally.
