We just completed a 2 week driving tour of parts of France with some friends starting in Paris and ending in Toulouse. We stayed in several towns and cities, but we have to say The Lot and staying at Hotel Le Saint Cirq were the highlights of the trip.

To start off this hotel is located on one of the prettiest spots on earth. Our room not only overlooked a developing vineyard but also the old city built high on a hilltop. You also see the high cliffs of The Lot, beautiful greenery, and a large pen that included Le Popie the donkey, as well as several sheep. It felt like it jumped out of a storybook.

The staff from start to finish were nothing but wonderful. They went out of their to meet all of our needs with a customer first attitude. The check in was easy. The rooms are all brand new with very modern appointments. The standard room is more than adequate size, and there are larger ones available including a few apartments if you need. The pool is smallish but adequate. Good for laps or kids.

The restaurant is only open for breakfast, but is very good, reasonably priced, and has a tremendous outdoor patio with a view to die for. They do have continuing bar and coffee service all day. The hotel is associated with a couple good restaurants in the old city that they were happy to book for us and provides shuttle service.

The location is ideal for basing yourself to see other parts of The Lot. We could easily have stayed a week here. You do need a car to see sites but there are free bikes at the hotel, and we discovered a couple nice walkabouts.

So all in all we highly recommend this hotel. It's modern, beautiful, suitable for either families or a romantic getaway.

Many thanks mainlebo for your lovely comment about our Hôtel le Saint-Cirq. We do appreciate that you enjoyed very much the location of our hôtel opposite to the unspoilt village of Saint-Cirq-Lapopie, of course the amazing view, the welcome you had from the team and the restaurants.
We are very happy for you that your stay at Hôtel Le-Saint-Cirq was the highlight of your trip.
See you as soon as possible. Best regards.

Stayed for one night on our way to the south and didn't want to leave. The setting is wonderful and the room probably the nicest we've stayed in. The hotel only does breakfast, served on the terrace, but runs a mini bus to the nearest village for dinner. The staff were delightful and we look forward to staying again.

Room Tip: Can't imagine there is a bad one.

A modern, environmentally aware hotel in a tranquil setting with a magnificent view. Our room was clean and comfortable, with French doors opening onto a patio with a postcard view of the medieval town of Lapopie high on the hillside across the river. The staff was very helpful in making dinner and activity reservations, although their English communication skills were better online and in email during the reservation process than in person at the hotel. A full breakfast is available (whatever happened to the old European standard of a simple continental breakfast being included - or at least available?), there is a small swimming pool (usually crowded when the weather is hot and the hotel full), and shuttle service is available to two restaurants for dinner, but beyond that a car is a necessity to get to other restaurants or any of the towns or attractions in the valley.

Room Tip: Ground floor rooms have patios and avoid the need to haul luggage up and down stairs.

If you like beautiful scenery, decor that perfectly reflects the rustic setting and a Hotel that makes the most of local food and locally made and sold products, then this is the place for you. I am not someone who likes Hotels as a rule but I loved this Hotel. You can just stay all day and relax in the park, admire the Donkey and sheep and sunbathe amongst the vines or by the pool. If you want to go sight seeing, it is very well situated for lots of exciting days out and lots of outdoor pursuits for all ages. Wonderful that there is no television in the bedrooms, allowing you to feast your eyes on the scenery instead! There is TV in the apartments, which incidentally are very spacious and well appointed. The apartments are great for families or for anyone with a disability.
The personnel who run the Hotel are very helpful, cheerful and well organised. There is a lot of information on offer and games for rainy days. There is even a large box of toys for children to dip into. We thought the breakfast was delicious and we could eat it on a beautiful terrace looking over the grounds and to Saint Cirq Lapopie.
I think it speaks volumes that we booked for two nights initially but then stayed for four more. We will definitely return to this very chic and lovely Hotel and in such a beautiful area.

Room Tip: There are many different types of room in this Hotel from budget to luxurious. You need to be aware of this when you book, so be sure to ask for a room that suits your specific requirements and your budget. Some are at ground level with access to the outside and some upstairs involving access by outside steps, . There are self contained apartments with fully equipped kitchens and TV. The two types of rooms we tried were comfortable, clean and spacious and had excellent decor.

Most of the reviews have said it all: location, quality of service, rooms, views and convenience.

This hotel is a real find. Only four years old set in beatifully tended grounds and if you go for the rooms on the ground floor with double doors opening on to the small vinyard and your own loungers and table and chairs you do not really not need anything else. Certainly not a TV!

The breakfast was great value and it could be tken either indors or on the terrace overlooking the valley and Saint Cirq lapopie.

By all means use the complementary bus to the two 'affiliated' restaurants but if you want something different from the tourist meals in most of the restaurants in the town then do go to the Auberge in the center of the town. It has been there for over 25 years which was when we first came across it, and now run by the daughter of the Madame we knew when we first came, The small town is best experienced at 7pm when most visitors have gone home and the souveneer shops are closing. It is then that you can get a feel for the town as it might have been in times gone by and when we knew it all those years ago. And when it was occupied by artisans rather than retail shops.
