“Amazing Views - Peaceful”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 28, 2012

Modern hotel, great parking, clean, quirky interior design, and well maintained. Our room had lovely views across to St Cirq.
This hotel is beautiful, and I would stay again, however we felt in some areas design had triumphed over practical issues; no storage for luggage, very small wardrobe, no space in bathroom for toiletries, and no plug in sink. The toilet also had no seat, which was a little difficult?!?. I also found the plastic covers on the mattress, quite unpleasant, and not in-keeping with the hotel image. The pool is quite small, only suitable for about 3 people wanting to swim.
The location is lovely and peaceful, you will need a car to get to it, and to tour the area. St Cirq is an amazing village, and I'm glad I saw it without lots of tourist (which I'm sure it attracts in the peak summer months).
We didn't take breakfast, which was over 12 Euros each. But the breakfast room was lovely.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a view towards St Cirq.

We spent just one night here because we were travelling to the south of France, but I would love to have stayed longer. The hotel has a beautiful location, an oasis of tranquillity facing the small town of Lapopie. The owners are welcoming and will help you with everything.

After a long drive you could take a dip in the nice pool which gives you a beautiful view of the surrounding area.

We had the smallest room, but even that one was amazing with a fantastic bathroom and a heavenly bed.

There was a shuttle bus that could drive you to the town of Lapopie where there a 2 restaurants with good food (or just go by car like we did, and find it for yourself, not difficult at all).

We will come back for sure!

Had great 4 day stay here; super location and views, breakfasts excellent. Soundproofing between rooms virtually non-existant! The hotel will bus you to their sister restaurants in the village - which seems a good idea. However style of food on offer is heavily dominated by duck - and "meli-melo" which basically piles everything onto one plate (salad, cheese, smoked duck, potatoes, meat...) making a rather indigestible morass. And beware the Bistro restaurant; we had some issues with the food (tough meat and burnt crepe) - but when we reported this to the maitre'd he just could not have cared less (" that is your view, monsieur, but I think the meal is fine") - a hugely non-customer friendly stance to take. Avoid!

Room Tip: Take a downstairs room which has a terrace.

Arrived a day earlier than anticipated - very welcoming staff who accommodated us for two nights instead of one. Delightful location with stunning views to the beautiful village of Lapopie. Very peaceful and perfect for relaxation. Room was very smart, modern and clean with a terrace and table and chairs also your own sun loungers on the grass in front of your room. Lovely swimming pool area surrounded by their own vineyard. Breakfast was very good with fresh produce and could be taken on the terrace. My only recommendation for improvement would be to supply tea and coffee making facilities in the room, oh and also a soap dish in the bathroom! We will definitely be returning. Loved it.

This stylish hotel is in a wonderful location, both from its postion across the Lot from Lapopie and also for visiting other attractions in the area. We were warmly welcomed and generally loved the style and our room. The breakfast may be pricey compared with others but quality ( and quantity) does not come cheaply and we had both. We have saved money by having breakfast in local cafes in the past but think it would be a great mistake to do that here. Good coffee, breads, warm croisants, freshly squeezed juice and that view are worth it.
We ate in the hotels gourmet reastaurant one night, and Le Cantou the second. We had a much better in every way( and cheaper) meal in Le Cantou.
There are some downsides however that may not worry everyone,
Musak in reception
Bathroom basins that are stone washing boards are the last word in style, but hopeless if you prefer a bowl of warm water for shaving/ washing smalls etc
Tiled floors look lovely, but are very noisy if the people in the room above decide to move their furniture about in the wee hours
Sitting outside your room with no privacy from neighbours could be a problem, especially if they were noisy, nosy or smokers
Other issues which are more general to staying in any hotel.
I am a non smoker and am geting increasingly fed up with being relegated to the back of sometimes dark and dingy ( tho not true here) restaurants whilst smokers enjoy the outside ambience, view and sun. One of our breakfasts was spoiled by a smoker, and the view here is superlative, and one of our reasons for being in France is to enjoy eating outdoors. This hotel banns smoking in their pool area and now in UK many restaurantiers/hoteliers have no smoking in areas where food is consumed whether this is outside or inside. I have written to the hotel about this and will contact MEP.
Secondly another reason for staying in this particular hotel is for peace and quiet. Sadly there was a group, American as it happens but any group behaves the same, which loudly took over the pool and were very vocal outside until the small hours. What with that and the furniture moving ( same group) our sleep quality was one rather than a quite probable 5 stars.

This was a booking on an overnight stop on our way through France to get to the Spanish Grand Prix. By far this was the best hotel we stayed in during the ten days touring in both countries and we only wish we could have booked it again on our way back from Spain!!
Marie is a delight! What a lovely welcome she gave us and her English was fab - shame about our French! The rooms were so well appointed with views to remember across the small vineyard and down to the pool. Everything was clean, tidy and beautifully presented. Quirky sink which could do with a plug for the hole: made it difficult for husband to shave! And no loo seat?? How strange but much more hygienic! The whole place is beautifully decorated and the stonework is gorgeous. Wouldn't have minded having a look at some of their other rooms to see what they were like as they seemed fabulous too!The hotel staff encourage you to leave your car and walk or borrow bikes to tour around. Maybe next time if we can stay longer than one night. We were lucky to have arrived for some fabulous weather and were able to swim and lounge around the pool before moseying back up to our rooms - we sat outside where Marie had moved extra chairs for us to sit in the shade and sip wine looking over to the beautiful old village of St Cirq Lapopie. A shuttle bus takes diners over to the restaurants in the old village. One word of warning when ordering the food at the outside restaurant: two courses arrive on one plate - and quite often a fried egg on the top too!! Very filling and a little overwhelming!
Would really like to go back to stay there and spend a week riding bikes and walking around the fabulous countryside! Super place :)

Room Tip: Our air con hadn't been switched to 'summer' so we couldn't use it - so maybe check...

We had the Cardilliac suite. This is on the ground floor but offers a terrace with sun lounges that opens onto the vineyard and the pool. The room is well decked out with lots of stone and earthy colours. The place has a no expense spared feel to it. There is an open bath for two but there is no hook for the shower hose. The range of amenities offered for the bathroom were excellent and were probably the best we have come across at any hotel. Housekeeping was a little sloppy in that they did not rehang the towels but otherwise everything was done well. There is no TV but you do not need it as the room has stunning views across to Saint Cirq Lapopie which is breathtaking. There is also a CD player with a range of music offered in the room. The room lacks a little sound proofing as the stairs to the rooms upstairs cross over the suite and it sounds like people are walking right above your head. The bed is comfortable but the sir conditioning did not do alot. There is no restaurant onsite but there is restaurants nearby at Saint Cirq Lapopie.
Breakfast is good and includes special touches such as the croissants being made onsite and coffee to order.
