We stopped in to see what the rooms looked like and to get a price. The first thing that I noticed is that the office smelled like cat piss.
But from the beach this place looks nice, but up close, it is slowly falling apart. There is a sign in the office thats says, "no tv's or phones in the rooms".
Anyway, the guest relations girl took us to look at a room, and there wss not one car in the parking lot. The air conditioner in the room looked like it would fall out of the wall the second you touched any of it's knobs. The room looked old and dim in general. The refrigerator had a serious lean to it. And I am almost sure that if you leaned against the railing on the balcony you would break thru. And they want $50 a night! Don't waste your money or be fooled by the nice pictures which only show the bar and beach.

We try to give honest reports and really want to see businesses succeed but we just can't do it with this one. We stayed 2 nights and the main reason is, we are traveling with a little dog and they are the only ones I could find online that accepted dogs. I will look harder next time. Here is the shape of our room.
The ceiling was falling down in the bathroom and paint coming off many areas on the walls. The light in the bathroom was exposed and it is right up by the shower. So if you weren't careful, water could go up and cause sparks.
Through out all of the rest of the room, the paint was also coming off the walls. There was no TV, no phone, no internet in the room. The beds were typical Mexican hard beds and the air conditioner was very old and dirty and unsure what it was blowing in with the air on. There is no coffee in the room or available in the lobby.
The linens were clean as was the room; floor, bathroom, etc. There was only 1 thin towel for the 2 of us, so we needed to ask for another one. No wash cloths.
The hotel is right on the beach, and it does have a bar restaurant where we ate the first night. The food was acceptable. There is internet in the lobby and restaurant. The hotel is not right in the town of San Carlos so you do need to drive to it. We felt for the type of hotel we were in the price was about 2 times what it should have been. The second night, we were the only guests in the whole hotel. Once we drove around we did see many other hotels with better prices. Stay at your own risk.

Room Tip: To our knowledge there is NO good room.

This was a shock to someone who has stayed here in the past many times. The facility is getting more than just a bit long in the tooth. It is falling apart. The staff is wonderful but the rooms are barely functional. No hot water in the shower. Most of the lights were burned out. The dilapidated air conditioning unit actually worked but was very noisy. The unit was fairly clean but offered no extras like soap or towels until requested. This is hard to see since this used to be one of the best places and values in town. The views here are the best and the beach is a great walking track for miles to the east. Having experienced the room we decided not to try the restaurant that, in the past, had been excellent. The most recent owners seem to be letting place slide into the sea.

Room Tip: Visit the room and check for hot water. The beds vary greatly from room to room.

We stayed at the Fiesta Real on the first night of a three day road trip from Phoenix to San Miguel de Allende, MX. The property is situated on a tranquil part of the bay before you get to the Main part of the city. Although the rooms show as circa 1980, they are clean, have great mattresses (which are very important after a day in the car) and all have fantastic ocean views with a substantial patio that allows you to fall asleep to the sound crashing of waves. Be forewarned that if you want to use the A/C, it was loud in our room and I would recommend you take a pair of ear plugs. This is a family run property so somethings fall through the cracks. When we got to our rooms, we had no towels of any kind. The receptionist gladly gave us two bath towels as the remaining towels were not ready.......not a big deal in the scheme of things.

Their outside bar gladly served up the third game of the World Series for us. Their dining room was more formal then we cared for so we opted to eat on their patio. Dinner of freshly caught shrimp and Mahi-Mahi cooked to order was flavorful and very reasonably priced. The evening was quiet and we fell asleep to the sound of crashing waves. The beach at the hotel is great to walk on and offers shell hunters many treasures.

I do not give out recommendations easily, but this place is a great value and has a spectacular location on a bay with no high rise chain hotels. Plus they take pets!

Room Tip: Smile, speak whatever Spanish you know and be pleasant.

We spent one night at the Hotel Fiesta Real in San Carlos, Sonora right after Labor Day - there were few guests. The room had paint peeling from the ceiling, no light at the entrance to the room so you had to grope for the lock after dark. There were no towels in the room and the very pleasant receptionist who was doing double duty at the front desk and dining room could only find two thin towels - no hand towels or bathmat. The only light in the room was between the beds as the ceiling light had no bulb. The ceiling of the porch outside has fallen, exposing wiring, which is rusting away in the salt air. The room had two beds but only one miserable pillow per bed. The toilet only stopped running if you lifted the top and manually pushed the flapper valve down. There were no hangers for clothes.

We were tired after a long drive from Guadalajara so tolerated these conditions as it was only one night but I would seriously recommend that everyone double check the rooms before checking in. The cost for a room in this condition was outrageous.

There were some pluses - the location is great, the staff that we met were nice and the a/c worked well - will we ever stay there again - no way!
