On the main road from Guaymas to San Carlos, La Conquista is one of the first places you see on the right, near KM 8 on the road. The first time through, I thought it was like a roadside stand. Checking in-town revealed that the place was a little more upscale, so I tried it early one evening. It is much better.
The menu is fairly upscale, with meals from 100-300 pesos ($8-25 USD). That's high for San Carlos. Fortunately, the quality of the food is also good. I had duck two ways, which I took a picture of. It was good, primarily based on the sauce, though not fully imaginative. It could be more subtle. Extra little bonuses were a small appetizer, and very small dessert cake with great mango sauce. There was a full wine and liquor selection, but I don't drink.
One problem is the location - besides being relatively far from the main town of San Carlos, road noise was noticeable. Overall, though, La Conquista is a fine choice for upscale dining.
