The hotel is quite big, its clean, it quite. It is very near the beach which is really really nice. On the beach you can rent aa ATV, a water bike, some boats. Food and service were qutie good. There is a bar-disco club as well which is also quite nice. You can get cheap and deleicious pizza also. There are vending machines for drinks if in the middle of the night you are extreemly thirsty.
I would reccomend it.
A big problem for me was the transportation from Hermosillo Airport to the hotel. The hotel sais that they have transportation service but to use it they insist on giving not only your credit card number but the secret code on the back as well as the expiary date and the signature - which is ABSURD! Also you cannot pay post factum, meaning to oarder the service and pay when you arrive - again ABSURD!
However if you ask how can you reach the hotel otherway the tell you you can get a taxi from the airport on the same price.
I would say that taking a taxi is a really good alternative it is even cheaper (service from the hotel costed 1300 pesos, taxi from HMO airport costed 1200 pesos)
In reallity there is no real pick up service provided by the hotel - they just call a taxi to come and pick you up. That is a big minus for this hotel - luckely it is the only minus.

Room Tip: Clean, big, free internet, nice view to the beach and the Californian Gulf.

When a place advertises a rate I don't want to travel 15 miles to find out the ad was false which happened to me here. This is place a far away from everything in town and while it is a nice hotel with a convention center I was a single traveler and expected a lot more for the money. I went into San Carlos and got a much better deal. The beach was lousy as well.

Our family has stayed at the Plaza San Carlos a couple of times, and are planning on going back. Apparently you have the choice of staying at the renovated rooms, or the ones that need renovation. We happened to stay at the same room in both ocassions, which needs renovation, because we could not ignore the great price offered. Yes, the carpet and furniture look old, but the mattress/pillows were fine and the room was clean, spacious and with a large balcony . Yes, by the bathroom sink there was a faucet labeled "purified water" that did not operate, but again, even if it did, I wouldn't recommend drinking from it. When we asked for extra towels, extra pillows, extra chairs for the balcony and a dark curtain that was missing in the room, they were prompt in attending our requests. The entire setting is excellent if you're traveling with children: the pools, the jacuzzi, the water sport rentals, the big sand dunes, the long walks along the beach, other children to play with. Their price included their excellent Mexican breakfast buffet with fresh fruit and juices. I had a facial in their spa and it was well done. Just note that they have a ballroom, so parties and conferences may be happening while you're staying there. Try to avoid staying when they're having Sweet 16 or graduation events, or just bring good earplugs. Young people rent out most of the rooms and it does get loud. Also, during the morning of your last day, you will receive the bill in your room, with very tempting discount offers if you decide to stay a bit longer... so keep that in mind if you think you'd like to stay one, two, three, four or more days!

Not too pleased with this hotel. They turned us off before we could enter. We had a cooler of drinks which they stopped us and told us we could not take it in. We were find with it and took it to the car. Then they stopped us for a small bag of chips and I mean small bag that we could not take it in.
The air conditioner and hair dryer in the room was not working. Staff took allot of time to address the issue.
I have stayed at different hotels in Mexico and this was the worst.

I was very weary of staying here after seeing mixed reviews of this hotel on the web. I am very glad that I did. I would compare this hotel to most Hilton or Marriott properties in the US. Very clean room and amazing views of the beach. There is no carpet in the rooms as some other reviews state - tile floor. The TV is all spanish except for CNN. No issues with reservations - just book directly with the hotel and you will be fine. Recommend this hotel highly!

We didn't stay at this hotel, but ate here frequently. The two dining rooms were above average, the food good, the service attentive, and the prices reasonable. The restaurants, lobby and pool area were spotlessly clean, and even late in the evening there was frequently a person keeping the area touched up. Any employees we spoke with were friendly and helpful.

We visited over a two week period extending over Christmas 2009. We wanted to add our comments because of the bad experiences previous visitors had a year or so ago.

The hotel lost my reservation made online and was required to pay full rack rate. No compromise with the management. The hotel was infested with mosquitoes throughout the open air, four floor lobby. The breakfast buffet was very good though the pool area restaurant was very mediocre and over priced. The gym was in poor working order as the machines were in disrepair and unclean. The beach had a wonderful view, but so does the whole coast along that strand of beach. For the price, one would expect better. Oh, the room card stated that if you brought your own adult beverage to the beach area, you would be subject to a $100 (US) fine.
