Casa Calderoni Bed and Breakfast
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed July 29, 2014

I have stayed at this bed and breakfast many many times as have my son and daughter-in-law. It is meticulously clean. The Calderoni's are personable helpful hosts who are almost always about the premises. Luis, the general manager, is a jem. He is one of the most knowledgeable, helpful, courteous people I have ever met (and a great musician also). Nothing is too much for him or for the staff. My favorite room is the Freda Kahlo. The view is spectacular from this room. This B and B is centrally located and you can walk to almost anywhere about the city. Luis will tell you where the great shopping and restaurants are-or just wander around the area and find them yourself. I stay at this location everytime I visit San Miguel and know there will be parking nearby, a friendly face to greet me no matter what time of day, and a wonderful room to relax in. In need of transportation? Don't worry - they will arrange it for you. Breakfast is delicious and plentiful. I have stayed at many B & B's in San Miguel and also the few 5 star hotels, but this is the one I keep coming back to. Can't beat it!

We just returned from a week in San Miguel de Allende where we stayed at this lovely B & B. What a great place! Can't recommend enough! Everything about this gem of a B & B is first rate. We started each day with a wonderful breakfast, got excellent tips on shopping, dining & entertainment options from the very gracious staff, and felt totally safe and secure the whole time in both Casa Calderoni and the town of San Miguel. Luis with the staff made pick-up arrangements for us at Leon-Guanajuato Airport, and even though our American Flight from Dallas was four hours late, our driver was there waiting for us with a smile, at 12:30AM! Few things in this world can live up to the hype, but San Miguel did, and certainly Casa Calderoni did as well. Kudos to innkeepers Merry & Ben Calderoni, and to Luis at the front desk. Bravo to you all! See you next time!

Room Tip: We got the Picasso room, and we'd book the same room again tomorrow. Lovely balcony overlooking...

We recently stayed 2 nights at Casa Calderoni and I have to say that it was the staff and the location that made this such an enjoyable experience. Upon our arrival Luis the general manager educated us about where to dine in San Miguel and gave us a detailed map of the area. In the mornings Ben the owner would be there to greet us for breakfast and he was just such a joy to talk to! We stayed in the Frida Kahlo Room that had this beautiful set of French doors that led out to a balcony and enabled us to look down into the courtyard and across the neighborhood. Also there was always someone on site down at the entrance of Casa Calderoni that always made us feel safe and secure. When I do return to San Miguel there is no question about it, I will be staying at Casa Calderoni! Such a beautiful and clean bed and breakfast along with a great staff!

Room Tip: Frida Kahlo Room is the room you want. Great Balcony, TV, and Bathroom!

This is our 3rd time in San Miguel, and we always go back to the same B and B. We love the location, the rooms, the view from the terrace, and the people. Luis, the general manager, is friendly and helpful. The Calderonis frequently appear at breakfast and take a great deal of interest in what we are doing. The rooms are large and beautifully decorated.

My wife and I stayed in Casa Calderoni for 2 weeks and it was a delightful experience. From the moment we entered this small hotel we we pampered. The room we had was "Georgia O'Keefe" and was decorated with this motif. It was very comfortable-a great room for our relatively long stay. The staff went out of their way to make us welcome and not only helped when asked but also made very useful suggestions about where to go, where to eat, etc. Merry is an artist and this shows up in the excellent pictures and general decorations. Luis, the manager knows everything about the Casa and also is a musician who is really worth hearing. The chef makes a superb breakfast. All in all, the hotel is a treasure. Bobby and Bill W.

Room Tip: Georgia O'Keefe and Frida Kahlo look out on the patio. Diego Rivera and Dalí are lovely quiet su...

My wife and I stayed at Casa Calderoni for two weeks and had a marvelous stay. Ben and Merry, the owners, are lovely people and went out of their way to make sure we were comfortable and happy. The staff at the B & B are exceptionally helpful and friendly. Luis, the front desk manager, also plays wonderful music with his band every night at a local restaurant called Pueblo Viejo. Breakfast every morning was delicious and there is also the best coffee place in town right across the street if you crave your morning latte. The beds and pillows are very comfortable and soft. We used the free Vonage phone to call the states quite a bit for business, so that was a godsend. Ben arranged for me to accompany him to play golf one day, which was delightful, and we toured Merry's galary at the Aurora. Case Calderoni was only two blocks for our school, Hablo Hispana, and it's also very central to all downtown locations, restaurants, shops, museums, and art galleries. Suggestions for improvement: WiFi is excellent in the lounges, but not available in the rooms for the most part; reading lights in rooms could be stronger. Overall, we had a great stay and would highly recommend Casa Calderoni.

My wife and I recently stayed at Casa Calderoni for 6 nights. Centrally located, a few short blocks from the jardin and one block from the local mercado, which is a must visit for the local flavor. While our room, the Picasso, was extremely comfortable (our only complaint was the size of the flat screen TV (too small), it's the staff that earned my 5 star rating rather than 4. Helpful, knowledgable, on site 24 hrs., I can't say enough about them. From Luis the G.M. to the housekeeping staff, they WOWED us, and insured our return on our next visit to this beautiful city.

Room Tip: The bathtub in the Picasso room for the cold mornings and nights.
