“Food So So, Music Excellent”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 4, 2013

If you want to experience an important part of San Miguel's thriving "music scene", be sure to put Mi Casa at the top of your list. Mi Casa is located within the historic walls of San Miguel's Instituto de Allende. Recently we have been enjoying the hot Latin Jazz presentations of Gil Gutierrez and he shifts to Jazz and Classic variations when he partners with Mexico's classic cellist treasure Jimena Jimenez Cacho.

Mi Casa the restaurant is OK, but San Miguel restaurants are excellent so Mi Casa has wonderful entertainment and very enjoyable venue. You can enjoy the beautiful views of the Iglesia Paroquilla, and you can share this with an appreciative musical audience. Gil a a wonderful performer and his musical partners deliver. There will be a cover charge added to your bill, identified by the word "Gil" on the cuenta. The charge is nominal for the performance. Always make a reservation... Mi Casa is a small, but enjoyable place. Have fun, that's what Mi Casa is all about.

“Fabulous view and great music”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 22, 2013

This hidden gem is within the Instituto and well worth going to for so many reasons! The view of the Parroquia is stupendous and if you choose you can sit outside and have a drink or meal and be staggered by the beauty of the scene before you (especially at night). Also Gil Guttierez and other rotating musicians perform twice a week and the music is superb. The waiters are warm and pleasant and the food is very good in that mid range of good Mexican cooking. We went twice and enjoyed the roasted vegetable salad, chicken/fish tacos and shrimp quesadillas. The margaritas were very good too.

“Best kept "secret" in San Miguel”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 21, 2013

I can't believe I'm the first to review this great little spot! I guess all the regulars are trying to keep it to themselves! They have wonderful food, outstanding service, beautiful views, extremely reasonable prices - AND fantastic live music on Wednesday and Friday nights featuring the famed Gil Guitterez. We eat at Mi Casa often, and have never had a bad experience. Last year, we rented the entire restaurant to host a party for 100 people from Texas, and they all said it was their favorite eating experience of their trip. They have a fairly limited menu, but almost everything on it is great. They are particularly good with sauces, and never stingy with portions. We love their mole - and we are not always big fans of mole. They have a nice selection of interesting salads. Their main courses range from enchilada plates to shrimp dishes of every stripe to (really good) pork chops with mashed sweet potatoes to various Mexican specialties that are more difficult to find in San Miguel than you might think. Try the Tacos de Nata, for example, or the stuffed poblano pepper. And be sure to make a reservation if you want to enjoy the music on Wednesday or Friday nights - they're always packed.
