“Craving Curry?- Bhaji's the answer”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 28, 2013

My wife and I first went to Bhaji when it opened in September and we enjoyed it. last night was our second visit and it was exceptional. We feel it is the best Curry and Indian food in San Miguel. We loved our selections of medium hot chicken curry, Chicken Tikka Kebab, Raita salad (cucumber and tomatoes in a mint and cumin yogurt and of course, delicious garlic nan bread. The portions were very generous, enough for us to take home lunch the next day. Sauces were tasty, and service was very good.

“A Treat”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 20, 2013

We were thrilled when Bhaji opened in San Miguel de Allende. Indian is our favorite cuisine and we are happy to be able to enjoy it here in Mexico. We try to go at least twice a month if we can get in. So far, none of the dishes we have ordered has disappointed us. The service is attentive and helpful.

“A must for Indian cooking in San Miguel!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 13, 2013

Having lived in London and eaten in many Indian restaurants, we found Bhaji to be similar yet different in terms of the variety of dishes you would find in London. We visited 3 times with friends and each time we ordered the raita and biriyani along with the garlic nan and were transported with the marvelous flavors each time. The size of the restaurant provides intimacy and comfort with personalized service. The owner, who has a well-established restaurant in Queretaro, spoke to us in a personable manner. Our friends who are from England look forward to returning to Bhaji.

“Really good Indian food”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 31, 2013

A disclaimer upfront - I've lived in India for a few years and I definitely know my Indian food. Having said that, we were surprised to find an Indian restaurant here and so we tried place upon Dr.Beverly's recommendation. Bhaji has really good Indian food. The raita and biriyani were great. The entrees had lots of vegetables. The naan wasn't as fluffy as I'm used to. I wish they toned down on the oil a bit. Overall, I would recommend the place.

“Okay but nothing special”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 24, 2013 via mobile

am English, have been to India, had a Pakistani friend and like many English have eaten a lot of "Indian" food.

On my last trip to San Miguel there was a Ceylonese restaurant which had very good Indian food; sadly it was no longer there but was now yet another of the growing army of so-so pizza/pasta places that are taking over SM ; so we were excited when we found Bhaji.

Bhaji is okay if you want to eat something other than the local fare in other restaurants but it could not accurately be described as Indian food.  There is nothing wrong with the food but my wife's chicken dish tasted more like a shop bought "Coleman's" cook-in sauce than a freshly made curry.I ordered Chicken Vindaloo but the chef had clearly never made the connection as to why "Vin" forms the base of the name of this hot, spicy and pungent Portugues/Goan dish.  My Vindaloo turned out to be mainly potato and vegetables in a brown gravy stew with a few small cubes of chicken.

The restaurant itself is reasonably cute, albeit a bit cramped.   Staff are friendly and cooperative.  Price seemed a bit high for what we got. The owner/chef that is usually there sounds Australian and seems to permanently bad humoured. As I said,  nothing wrong with the place, just don't expect authentic Indian food.
