“A fun place to go for the entire family but depends when.....”

Xote Parque Acuatic
Reviewed July 20, 2013

The large pool is excellent for swimming laps either early in the morning when kids are out of school or during the day when kids are in school.

The big slide is fun for all ages. No jewelry of any kind is allowed.

It's better on a sunny day because the water is not that warm.

Few chairs- bring your own.

Nice snack shop selling swim suits, swim toys and snacks.

Just outside town this little gem features four pools, several small wading spots for the kids, as well as two heart stopping slides. After working out there three days a week for the last two winter seasons I rate this water park as the best in San Miguel. Even early Monday morning after the weekend crowds, the place is clean, bright, well groomed and the staff is ready to receive a class of gringos doing water aerobics. Entrance fee is 55 pesos, newly raised from 50 but well worth it. The men's facilities are excellent, I can't claim first hand knowledge of the women's, but my wife testifies to their cleanliness. The water is warmed, apparently by underground volcanic activity; even on a chilly February morning the outdoor pools are welcomingly warm.

Xote is a family place, unlike the other hot spring parks just outside of San Miguel de Allende. For under $10 (adults, and it's less for kids), you can spend the day swimming, sunning and picnicking with the kids. It's chaotic and fun, with huge water slides, and it's okay to bring your own pool toys if you have them. Just grab a towel and some change for the snack bar, and hop into a cab. Any taxi driver can take you there.

Fun pools and slides. Great small kid area too. Lots of space to spread out your blanket and picnic and hang out all day. Food for sale was delicious (we had gorditas) and prices were reasonable. Definitely a kid favorite!

We spent a month in San Miguel this summer, with my children and I taking Spanish classes in the morning, and enjoying family time in the afternoon in the Jardin, Parque Juarez, art classes, etc ...

"El Xote" became our weekly activity out for the whole family during our stay! Three families in our school with children from age 5-10 took the field trip together and fell in love with it! For only 100 pesos (for big kids/adults) and 50 pesos for little ones, this place offers 4 areas with water slides and pools of all sizes and temperatures. While not super fancy, it's clean and fun and never crowded. Great for people of all ages!

(Quick hints: a taxi to El Xote - about 20 min outside SMA - is about 120 pesos. And I don't recommend going headfirst down the biggest slide! My husband (who is 6'4") ended up bumping his head on the bottom of the pool !
