My stay at Casa de la Cuesta was amazing! Heidi and Bill are wonderful hosts. The place is beautifully decorated and I met some great people who I have kept in contact with after the trip. I love where the hotel is located and the breakfasts were big and delicious. Please note when you stay at a bed and breakfast you don't have the "leisure" time to eat on your own schedule. If you want that stay in a hotel. The big dining room table was a great place to meet people, eat wonderful Mexican food and plan the days activities. I have traveled extenisvely around Mexico and San Miguel is indeed one of the most beautiful and richer parts of the country. Both Heidi and Bill are knowledgable about the area and the culture. I hope to visit there again one day and buy some of the local art that Heidi has in their gallery. My favorite moments were sitting upstairs with fellow guests, drinking wine and watching the sunset. Priceless....

My daughter and I visited Casa de la Cuesta to celebrate her birthday.
We loved the place, Heidi and Bill, the generous, friendly and very knowledgeable hosts, and the other guests. I plan to return to San Miguel, and to this hotel, as often as I can. Everything is in easy walking distance. The casa is jammed with lovely folk art, and Heidi and Bill are experts on the pieces and their history. The rooms are comfortable, attractive, and quiet, and the other guests were delightful.

Heidi and Bill will certainly expand your view of the valley of San Miquel, Mexico from their extensive patio vista to their unusual art collection and colorful decor. They have a unique perspective based on their life experiences as they have searched for the real Mexico. We appreciated the rooster (if you awaken early, be sure to catch the sunrise over the city and Balloon Jay flying by) as well as the church bells that add to the music of the town. Mexico is a surprise to first time visitors. That said, the surprises are so special. A visit to the town square is a delight no matter when you go. In just a few days we saw a random costumed band of big heads playing music one night, followed a group down cobblestoned streets, learning about the history of the city and bought artesenia in the town center made by indiginous women and prisoners. Volunteers help these groups to earn from their skills. They will give you leads for the best restaurants, neighboring village trips, activities (like the amazing mineral baths) and shopping experiences. The galleries of Casa de la Cuesta have examples of Mexican art that is hard to find anywhere else. Heidi and Bill each have their own expertise if you have the interest to learn more about non-tourist Mexican art. Finally, we long to return to San Miquel de Allende like many fortunate folks who come back every year. We love all of Mexico but can't wait to return to Casa de la Cuesta.

Thanks to Bill and Heidi for a wonderful experience at Casa de la Cuesta. We loved our visit, the smiling faces on the neighborhood children, the delicious breakfasts, the spectacular view, and the collection of Mexican folk art was the best we saw on our whole two week trip to Mexico. We wish we had spent more time with you in San Miguel.
