Take your time to read the description of the masks as you browse the exhibit. This was very interesting and a unique place to visit.

“First Class Mask Museum in Mexico”
Reviewed June 6, 2014

If you are visiting San Miguel for even three days, call this museum and make a reservation to see this world class collection of Mexican masks. All the masks are authentic and have been used in traditional indigenous dances. The museum is beautifully designed. One can sit and watch videos of dancers using the masks as they at you!! There is no fee but a donation is appreciated.

Awesome collection of masks that have all been baptized by being used in folkloric dances. On top of that all the money goes to charity!!

“If you can get in....”
Reviewed May 9, 2014

Then go for sure. It's in a private house, and the owners are working on a true contribution to fellow man by collecting and maintaining these masks. It's fantastic...specific stories about many of the mask.

“Vast collection of ceremonial masks”
Reviewed May 3, 2014

This is an astonishingly large collection of ceremonial masks of the indigenous peoples from all over Mexico. It is carefully curated and painstakingly explained, so that you almost feel that you have been to the villages yourself where the masks originated. There are videos of the dancers wearing the masks for festivals and ceremonies which help the visitor comprehend some of the masks' significance, as well. I would highly recommend a visit to this private museum, which includes an introduction by the museum's creator.
