Cafe Firenze (San Antonio #2 (near the Parroquia de San Antonio), San Miguel de Allende (SMA), Gto., P.C. 37750, tel. 415-121-0763, web: cafefirenzesanmiguel.com). The first time we ate there, we were with 6 other people. The restaurant has beautiful views and a nice terrace. Inside it is nicely decorated but very noisy. The food was very good, the house wine not so good. The service was very good too. The second time we went, there were 4 of us. It was lovely sitting outside on the terrace. The noise level was high, however. We had a very good meal and excellent service. We shared the octopus and it was delicious. Then we shared the risotto with mushrooms. It was also very good. Each couple shared an order of grouper fish that was nicely cooked and served with mashed potatoes and vegetables. We all enjoyed the meal. We spent about M$600 a couple with a M$90 corkage fee and 2 extra glasses of wine.
The third time we went we were just the 2 of us. The staff that greeted us, Raul and Cid, were friendly and welcoming. We sat outside with the beautiful view of the Parroquia and the hills around San Miguel. We decided to have the two specials, the clam chowder with corn and the mahi mahi with risotto and and an eggplant sauté with olives and a little spiciness. The clam chowder was good but it could have used more clams. The mahi mahi was delicious, perfectly cooked and juicy. The risotto and eggplant sides were also very good. The mahi mahi was grilled and the fire gave it great flavor. Raul served and he was good. Antonio, the owner, came to chat which we love. He introduced us to the chef. That was fun.
