A very nice place to visit even as a local. I was surprised as to how many local people were unaware of this amazing site. I visited this site with my GF as a casual road trip, took the local guide, not Mr. Coffee that everyone talks about. Quite enjoyable, nice views from the top of the pyramid, we got caught by the rain, but that did not dissuade us from continuing, I was a bit disappointed to the lack of general information of the site, for a site being established for as long as it has, and still not know what real culture it originates from. And some of the "restoration" is not being done in a proper archaeological fashion. All in all, it's a beautiful place to visit, not as full of energy as other sites, but well worth the ride, and it's only a short walk uphill after the shuttle ride to the site. It's 1km each way (up/down) I would surely recommend for anyone in the San Miguel de Allende area, after our visit here, went to SMA for the rest of the day to finish off a great day.

Very interesting and informative. Amazing site. Can't imagine why there aren't more tourists here. Walking and climbing a necessity. So word to the wise, choose a cloudy or cool day, as we did.

Its quite a drive from town and then a 7km drive in a van and then a 2KM each way walk to the pyramid. Not the biggest by a long shot but very enjoyable and for 30 pesos with a very knowledgable guide a real bargain. At this time of the year the abundant wild flowers everywhere made it even better.
Take some water with you there is nowhere to buy any.

Simply put, this is a must do if visiting San Miguel de Allende. Albert Coffee is very knowledgeable. He imparts his knowledge with humour and intelligence. I would also highly recommend riding the ranch with Rodrigo. We did it as a two day adventure and it was fabulous!

Definitely recommend taking this tour with Albert Coffee, acoffee@live.com.mx. The site has only been open for tours for 2 1/2 years, and Professor Coffee assisted with some of the initial excavations. He has a wealth of knowledge of the area and the people who built the complex, as well as interesting history of the ownership of the property. The site is embedded in a large natural privately owned property, so there is NO development anywhere around, no vendors or anything to detract from the experience. There is a 3km walk, mostly uphill but easy walking to get to the site. Professor Coffee takes small groups, and offers an optional lunch and/or horse back riding experience in the canyon afterwards. He has a wealth of knowledge plus a good sense of humor, so the whole experience was very entertaining. I definitely recommend this tour!
