Went early on a Sunday night and were among the very few in the dining room. Maybe it ws too early. Service was slow despite the lack of people but it improved as the evening went go. Food was first rate - prices a bit steeper than other top restaurants in SMA. The basil sourbet was as unusual as it was good!!

Our choice of lunch at Andanza was the result of fruitlessly searching for another restaurant we had visited last year. Tired and quite hungry we stumbled upon Andanza and found the atmosphere of its interior courtyard to be quite inviting.

The service was good and unobtrusive. My wife’s lunch selection was a penne pasta in pesto sauce with grilled salmon. Being quite hungry, my choice was a tenderloin steak.

Our meals arrived in a short while and both were nicely presented. My wife thought the pasta and salmon were well prepared and delicious. My steak was tough and lacking in flavor. At least the asparagus that was served with it was properly cooked and flavorful.

A few days after dining at Andanza I had a steak at Garufa and it was superb. So if you looking for a good steak, I would look elsewhere.

Last Thursday's "pairings" menu was outstanding - each course was accompanied by 2 totally different wines - each from all over. ( I honestly thought the first 4 were from Mexico - NOT)
1. Foie gras in a prefect fresh fig
2.. Wild Mushroom/Asparagus/oven dried tomato salad
3. Squash Blossom soup with Sea Scallop - served perfectly!
4. Gulf Red Snapper served in a unique Oaxacan - Veracruzana style
5. Duck breast - my fav
6. EggNog pudding - I'm not a dessert person, but the two bites were outstanding.
Provecho!
