“Great location - nice rooms”
Reviewed October 26, 2012

The location of Casa Quetzal is excellent, only a few blocksfrom the zocalo.
All the rooms are differnet with a couple nice roof top patios.
Lots of spots to get away and relax with a good book.
We had room 101 which is our front, a bit of street noise but a great room, big with a fireplace and a big bathroom.

Room Tip: The rooms to the back have less street noise with shared outdoor patio's.

I went to San Miguel de Allende to attend a friend's party. In researching many properties it became clear that a one night stay can be very expensive. I settled on Casa Quetzal because it was reasonably priced at $110/night. It was centrally located but very average. I guess, as the expression goes, you get what you pay for.

Room Tip: Avoid the rooms in the front. They are directly on the street.

We had already the second visit at Casa Quetzal in San Miguel de Allende. This beautiful, charming Location is only 3 blocks away from downtown and you better let park your Car by the nice consierge for your entire stay and walk the city.

When we arrived we were shown our Wonderfully decorated Rooms, One more beautiful than the other. We travelled with friends couples and spent twice 3 great days and nights at Casa Quetzal and San Miguel.

The breakfast at the hotel's terrasse was amazing and bridge you for the entire Day until dinner.
While the Boutique Hotel is a gem, the Location is even greater. Only 5 min away from the more than beautiful Zocalo, Casa Quetzal is One of the few City Hotels without being noisy at all. From the private roof terrasse you have the most exciting view on the cathedral and the City.

So overall we enjoyed it that much that we returned again, this time only to make the same marveleous experience.

Check in: Fri Mar-16-2012
My family were greeted by a very rude woman, she was just ice cold... rude. While checking in late (by 7pm)... Not even a "Welcome" word, just a "sing here" with a long face. We asked for information on where to go for dinner and she just pointed with her hand "there" to a table with brochures... a cleaning lady was more helpful and gave us some personal recommendations, the receptionist woman in the morning had better attitude but we asked for the manager and she said that he/she (the manager) could not help us and send a "sorry".

AVOID ROOM 101...!!! room was nice, bit It was like sleeping on the street, the room is very noisy, you can hear people talking/walking on the street and motor vehicles plus the smell of the cars (carbon monoxide) gets inside the room... woke up with a headache each morning... we asked for a different room but not help from the manager. The third night we moved to a different hotel were other relatives were staying and finally were able to sleep!

ROOM 101 Should NOT be a guest room, it should be some kind of a office or the reception.. it is located just on the side of the street. Noise all night until 3-4am and the noise starts again around 6-7am.

The Hotel is very well located, "maybe" the other rooms are fine, but not 101.

Room Tip: AVOID ROOM 101 (European Plan rate)... located on the side of the street, very noisy, and smell gets...

Thank you for your review.
we take very seriously your opinions and the following changes have been made, that rude receptionist is no longer working with us, we have on both shifts english speaking friendly receptionists, about room 101 we have duo vent system windows scheduled for this month which will isolate all the noise from the exterior, but we have checked the room four times i have even slept there twice and we can 100% guarantee the is NO carbon monoxide penetrating the room there is No hazard at all
we are sorry for your inconviniences.
