I spend many hours deciding where to stay in San Miguel and finally decided on this place mostly because of the pool.
Well, when I got there, the pool was covered, dirty and not heated and therefore closed.
My room had been changed from one I booked last May to one right beside a construction site next door. When I complained about the noise which started with banging on my walls at 8:00 AM, and continued all day, I was informed that my room had been booked by someone else that this was the only available room. I informed the management that this was unacceptable and made arrangements to move to the Posada de la Aldea. They proceeded to charge me about 150 US a night for the 2 horrible nights I was there. There was not a thought about the customer here. BEWARE booking this hotel!

We just returned from San Miguel, where we spent a week at Hacienda de las Flores, our fourth or fifth visit to this hotel over the years. We've stayed at many of the nicest hotels and B&B's in San Miguel, and we are convinced this is the best value for money in town.
The hotel is just two blocks from the Jardin (square) and main cathedral at the center of town, but could be a world away. It is a 450 year old hacienda, built around a central flower-covered garden and a mid-size swimming pool.
Our rooms were clean and cool, our bed was the best we've slept in in Mexico, we watched the US election returns on cable TV (but you have to ask at the front desk for a decoder to get CNN and other cable news channels.)
The staff was helpful, breakfasts (included in the room charge) delicious, service at the restaurant and for room needs, prompt.
Over the weekend, a large Mexican wedding party occupied all of the other available rooms at the hotel, and we were invited to watch and participate in the reception.
The American guests at the hotel were uniformly interesting, colorful people. We can't recommend this hotel too highly.

This was my fourth visit in one year. Have stayed all over the city. For location and tranquiliity in relationship to price this is one of the best. Breakfast on the terrace over looking garden is plentiful and cooked to any specifications. Rooftop views are spectacular. No request too small or too big for this extremely courteous staff. For two days, just remained in garden, read and listened to the birds. Socorra at the front desk was super helpful.

In March, my husband and I spent 11 nights at the Hacienda de Las Flores in San Miguel. We were very happy there..it is an oasis of flowers, with amiable owners and a very friendly staff. The rooms were Mexican in decor and the view from the roof terrace was spectatular....San Miguel is a city for walkers....the hills and the cobbled streets require considerable fleetness of foot.
Ask about rates for a week/two weeks or a month.
We would rest in their garden any day.
