The hotel has lovely grounds including a pool and tennis court. The public areas are all attractive. The rooms are a bit old-fashioned but spacious. The mattress was a bit hard for my taste. The hotel serves an ample hot breakfast buffet. Dinners were just OK. Location is close to the center of town, but it's uphill to get there.

Room Tip: If you want quiet, ask for a room that faces away from the courtyard. If you want a view and don'...

Was part of a group booked into this hotel by a Canadian travel company. Things that could be tweeked are: Business Centre is one computer in a very small room, often crashed, very slow. Very little English spoken at the front desk, use Google Translate English to Spanish, that works! Four out of our 14-person Cdn group got sick within a few days after our arrival. On the Road Scholar USA group of 18 seniors, eight got very sick so a doctor was called for a hotel visit. The RS group ate most of their meals at the hotel restaurant, hmmmmm. For sure, do NOT eat the ice cream. Inconsistency within contents of same meal ordered within days. Sometimes toast at breakfast, sometimes not. Fairly laissez-faire attitude. Feels like they need a manager to get the quality control in order. Restaurant only open on weekend nights ... Seemed like the same two servers working all the time. The physical environment is fabulous but this beautiful oasis is just limping along. Main floor washrooms locked at odd hours ... Thank goodness there was a small washroom near the front desk (staff dressing in there left when I came to use it). Half dead plants everywhere. Not busy. Even at 11 pm one night, front desk person was sitting upright asleep! Safety deposit "boxes" were 8.5 x 11 inch brown envelopes sealed with scotch tape put under front counter (OMG) with the hotel's front door nearby unlocked. Has such potential ... Great location, great courtyard, wonderful bird song.

Just stayed there for the weekend. Location near center of city, 10-20 minute walk uphill on cobble stones. Sidewalks inexistent. Parking ample and free. Reception average, they do give you your air-conditioning and TV controls to sign for. Room large, OK. Bed OK, a little on the hard side which we love. Most of the room accessories are of poor quality. Toilet broke, window broke, etc.etc. Rug soiled. Bed rugs very slippery (bamboo), either remove or be very careful. Air conditioning OK. TV OK. Although offered never could get a signal for Wi-Fi. Best part maybe the included breakfast, which is a buffet with very adequate Mexican cuisine, live guitar music and good waiters. Ambiance cold Spanish deco. Swimming? Looks good, but freezing cold so we did not try it. Perhaps on summer. In all, average good. Evidently it is not cozy nor a boutique hotel, but convenient and good value.

We spend four nights/days at this hotel in my first time at SMA and it has been an impressive experience since the first night we arrived. The rooms are ok and the food of the restaurant is very good (the breakfast was included).
The hotel is very near to the main plaza (Jardín) and around the area are several restaurants and handcrafts shops.
I did some research about the different hotels before I went to SMA and after being at Posada de la Aldea, I realize that I did a good decision.

We recently hosted a wedding celebration in San Miguel de Allende. We chose Posada de la Aldea as the hotel to locate our friends and family from all over Mexico and the U.S. Posada de la Aldea delivered. The hotel provided very nice rooms with kingsize and double matrimonial beds, and the enjoyable breakfast was included in the price for each room. The grounds of Posada are expansive and comfortable, and there is a large on-site parking area if you're traveling by car.

Staying at la Posada is an easy walk to town while being located in the thriving area near the Instituto de Allende and the always enjoyable Hecho en Mexico restaurant. The hotel staff was helpful with the many small details of hosting a group of friends and family from many places.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the top floor, open the windows in the mornings to enjoy the breezes and the music...

Stayed at La Aldea January 2013 for 8 nights. Great Hotel in a wonderful city. Easy to walk to all the downtown attractions. Nice swimming pool area. Very good breakfast that was included. The bed was a bit on the hard side, but we got use to it. Nice clean rooms in a very quiet area of the city. Brush up on your Spanish as just about no one speaks English in the hotel or the city. Everyone seems a bit aloof. There are no hair dryers in the rooms, you can ask for one at the desk. Also, ask at the desk for the code for the wifi, to use in your room. You have to ask as they are not going to offer it to you.
We where able to sign out beach towels for the day to take with us to the hot springs called La Gruta.
Really liked the hotel and would recommend it anyone going to San Miguel

We stay in this hotel every year in December since 2005 and its quality has been improving over the years. The price/service is more than excellent and the best is its personnel. The rooms are beautiful comfortable and quiet.

Room Tip: If you need WLAN or WI-FI stay in a room on the first floor where the signal is better.
