This was a wonderful place to stay. We were upgraded when we arrived and the room was wonderful. elean, efficient and it had everything we needed. The staff could not have been more helpful. Breakfast was great every morning and they were extremely accomodating. Also, the staff in the samll bar were so friendly and helpful. It was really nice getting to know them a bit.

The extremely friendly staff, the superbly-appointed rooms, the architecture, the location, the patio-restaurant, the food... Every single detail is at the right place. This is also the only hotel in San Miguel that has a beautiful pool, which makes for a nice relaxing break after a day walking around.

Chef Jose Bossuet is Mexican from Chiapas, studied in France, speaks French, and is the sweetest guy around. He will talk passionately about his recipes.

Oh, and the rest of the city is just like that. Beautiful, friendly, human-sized.

Room Tip: Travelling with small kids in Boutique hotels can be challenging. If this is the case for you, ask for 354 and 355, which have a fenced-in private terrace, where you can let them run a little without bothering romantic couples. Even with no kids, these rooms have great privacy and a beautiful view of the Cathedral.

This place was nice and in keeping with the spirit of San Miguel with its style. Location is convenient but reception is awkwardly small and not appropriate for a "luxury" property that this resort is trying to be. Most of the staff are very helpful and friendly. Rooms are nice and in keeping with the flavor of the town and property. There are a couple of minor issues that seem to be overlooked (flooring and plumbing hardware issues) but nothing that ruined the trip. We stayed in a junior suite which was spacious and had a fireplace. Unfortunately it seemed almost every other unit in our building had a patio or rooftop deck attached. Even though the property was almost empty during our stay, we were never offered an upgrade option, even at an additional cost. The restaurant did not impress. It was great for breakfast that was included in our stay, but the dinner we had was nothing special. All of our other meals in San Miguel were better. The cooking school, Sazon, was a different story. The class we took included a market tour and was very informative and interesting. The instructor was excellent and the food we cooked in the class was some of the best we had on our trip. The facilities for the class were fantastic and the art and cooking shop up front were fun to browse through, even if significantly overpriced. We also did the Temezcal at Laja Spa. It was interesting to say the least. I think the experience was worth it, but being younger and more fit than what I imagine the average guest to be, we wondered how other people could endure the treatment / ritual. We went in knowing very little about the Temezcal and were glad we experienced it, but I am not sure it is something we would do again. That same feeling resounded throughout our stay at Sierra Nevada. We were happy with it, but especially after visiting two other hotels, Rosewood and Hotel Matilda, we are certain we would stay at one of those two now that we have experienced the feel of San Miguel and Sierra Nevada.

When visiting San Miguel de Allende the only place to stay is the Casa de Sierra Nevada to experience the true flavor of what Mexico has to offer. The rooms are beautifully appointed and have the right amount of luxury without compromising the charm of the old world experience. The staff host you with professionalism and warmth and accommodate your every need. The restaurant Andaza was delicious at every meal. Beautiful bake goods and fresh juices(i really loved the fresh green juice of the day) were presented to you daily at breakfast and the menu had just the right balance of continental and dishes from the local cuisine. The Spa was rustic and charming but very professional and a great menu of special treatments using ingredients found in the local region. My Massage was glorious after my long hike seeing the sites of the city. A walking tour is a must for your first time you will enjoy the history and see so much more. The highlight of my stay was cooking with Chef Emanuel at their Cooking School, Sazon. We walked to the local market and purchased all our ingredients seeing first hand all his favorite haunts and then back to the incredible kitchen to make a delicious meal with recipes and all. Making tortillas brought me back to my childhood visits to Mexico. Such and amazing experience I was sad to leave but look forward to my next visit very soon.

The hotel is beautiful and located in a very picturesque neighborhood close to most of the important sites. Our room was very attractive and comfortable and opened up to a patio with a jacuzzi. The restaurant, Andaza, was delicious for breakfast and dinner. The staff at both the hotel and the restaurant couldn't have been nicer, more knowledgeable or more professional. They set a new standard!

We want to go back next year and hope to see all of our new friends again!

Room Tip: The suite we chose was wonderful. It was close to the pool, had a large beautiful shower, and an outdoor shower.
