“Incredibly clean”

Fun hot springs, big, well organized, clean, transparent white hot water, lots of places to relax and sip a Margherita or snack, good and cheap.

“Delightful relaxing day”
Reviewed March 11, 2013

This is my favorite hot spring near SMA. It's always great to get out of the city where there is so much stone and brick and a green lawn. The pools are varied and fun with an actual tunnel and grotto as well as a more traditional pool under the trees. They all have different temperatures. After a soak you can have lunch or breakfast in the garden. The food is excellent. There are umbrella tables and lounge chairs. We like to spend at least half a day. Best to go in the morning during the week and sometimes you almost have the place to your selves. Bring a game or books to read and have a great relaxing time. Also in the area is the historical church of Atotonilco. It is only about 10 minutes from the springs and adds another layer to this fun day.

“Nice relaxing time”
Reviewed March 9, 2013

we enjoyed the warm water and the gardens. I had been hoping for a slightly more natural hot spring experience but all in all this was a nice break from hiking and exploring and a much needed rest.

“Wonderful world away from everything”
Reviewed March 7, 2013

On the road West from San Miguel de Allende are a couple of hot spring spas, with La Gruta (The Grotto) being my favorite.
Beautiful gardens and an entrancing series of hot plunge pools with the main attraction being the domed room with the almost scalding water coming out of the wall.
A place to lose yourself for a few hours, and maybe soak up some sun and have a picnic while you are there.

“Very Relaxing”
Reviewed March 3, 2013

La Gruta is very relaxing. The 1 p.m. massage experience in the grotto cave is the highlight. Having lunch in the garden setting was very enjoyable. Only some of the pools are open, since maintenance is being done on others. Hopefully, the maintenance will include repair of the lounge chairs. Arrange for your taxi driver to return for you. 3 1/2 hours was perfect including lunch.
