Owner description: The city's crowded center plaza is located at the heart of the historic district.

El Jardin is a great place to people watch. It was amazing to see how crowded it was on Friday and Saturday nights. There were several "shows" going on around it. There are always some kids dancing in or around the gazebo and that is fun to watch. Sometimes it is quiet and peaceful too. No matter what it is a wonderful place to sit.

The central plaza with lovely trimmed trees and wrought iron benches, ideal for people watching. Busy all hours of the day and night.

The centre if everything. Great place to grab a margarita on a cafe patio and listen to mariachi and people watch

I was there a week ago. Fortify yourself with a few tequilas in the early evening and make for the central plaza (El Jardin). You have to be in a good mood to enjoy the mariachi bands (100 pesos a song, which is not bad considering there are usually ten musicians playing their hearts out just for you). Sit yourself on a park bench under the lovely Indian laurel trees (yes, I looked it up) and soak up the ambiente. Attach yourself if possible to a visiting millionaire hacendero who will gladly stump up for 20 songs for himself and his family, which after the 5th song includes you), and you will have a fab evening for virtually nothing. Then stroll down to the excellent Tio Lucas for dinner. The amazing thing about Mexico is that you see virtually no drunken yobs in places like this. If this were Europe you would have to watch your step and your wallet. Fabulous Mexico, fabulous Mexican people, fabulous San Miguel .

Always filled with people enjoying the atmosphere, the activity and the beauty of the plaza. If you are in San MIguel, you need to include time to relax and enjoy the plaza.
