If you wish to visit a colonial town and be lulled into yesteryear, sit for a while in SMA's town center. It is a lovely scene where interesting people pass by in a parade of nations in front of the town's main cathedral. You expected break dancers and kids with balloons fill the scenery, as do strolling musicians making sure that you know you are in Mexico. Delightful.

A nice setting, great people watching and walking, a fun place for events. Lots to do, cool vendors and a great place to while away some time.

The heart of San Miguel-everything seems to be measured in distance from the Jardin. Surprisingly clean and very well manicured. The trees are beautiful and perfectly trimmed to form a canopy over the whole park. Peaceful but active. Sit for an hour and you'll see examples of everything from charros to classic senoras, from hat vendors to garlic salesmen.

We were there for New Years 2013 and this is the place to be on any day. Early in the mornings, people are sipping coffee, reading their paper and/or watching children play. As the day goes by the square and the Jardin becomes full of colors, aromas and activity. The trees and the park were so wonderfully groomed and clean. A real experience in San Miguel!

So festive and fun! We loved the Mariachi bands (there were 3 at different corners of El Jardin one night!), the Christmas tree, the beautiful churches that are lit up, the giant puppets that walked about and the warm, upbeat crowds that sang and danced along!
