Charming small cafe inside the beautiful Institutio Allende. Super fresh ingredients. Weekly specials. Highly recommended...

Its such a shame that they charge and arm and a leg for art classes- its about 950 pesos for 3 days (3 hours each day). Its about $150 or $1700 in pesos for non mexicans.
I find that ridiculous. Education is about sharing knowledge, right? Clearly this school is just a business to get the money from the retired Americans.
Im a young traveller living in Mexico and cant afford the equivalent of a months rent for 9 hours of study.
They have courses in jewellery, weaving, sculpture and drawing.
Bellas Artes in San Miguel isnt open still- the lady at front desk says maybe courses will start in March. So, check out that school too. Other places that offer art and other courses are the community centre near Infonavit la Luz and the Casa de la Cultura.

Hidden in the back corner of the Instituto is Mi Casa restaurant... we had a wonderful evening there, with great food and flamenco dancers entertaining us. I know this is a popular wedding venue, but also a very romantic night for two or more people. Especially enjoyed the poblano peppers in a pecan sauce.

Good example of the Spanish approach to institutional architecture with some Mexican flare. Loved the open spaces and the generous amount of art. We especially liked the colourful murals.
