“Luxury in a Small Colonial Town”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 6, 2013

This is by far the best option in San Miguel if you enjoy luxury and being pampered. You do, however, need to be able to afford it. There are many amenities on site that are truly unique and worth the stay. One such is the tequila bar, where you can sample many different tequilas from around Mexico. The restaurant has, although be a small selection, savory dishes that will leave you thirsting for more. The pool is delightful as there are many lounge chairs to choose from, you never need to 'guard' your seat by putting a chinsy towel on it. Waiter service is prompt and very cordial and respectful. You get the service that you pay for and the staff are highly trained to make you feel like you are the king and queen of the hotel. Rooms are spacious and have character. I recommend the balcony room overlooking the street with the trees on it... Very beautiful and can be romantic. Location is unbeatable as the city is center is a mere 4 minute walk. Many restaurants can be found within this same radius. If you've got the cash, splurge on this place.

Room Tip: Balcony room overlooking street is the best option!

We had three fantastic days at this hotel! all of it, from the pool, beds, rooms, bars, restaurant, decoration, terrace etc is top... the tranquility, service and the excellent location makes this hotel among the best in the area. add the SPA to this and you have the perfect weekend getaway, for couples or also your whole family.. it costs.. but its worth it!

Room Tip: get a view towards town!

It's surprising to find such a big and luxurious hotel in San Miguel. Of course it has everything you would expect from a Rosewood hotel, but somehow it feels out of place here. Although it tries very hard to blend in with the rest of the town's buildings, the patina and charm is simply not there. On the other hand, you may like the modern conveniences built into their rooms and public areas, but at a price. Their rates rival those found in luxury hotels in major US or European cities. The staff is courteous and friendly, you can tell they were trained to please their guests. Not a bad option if you want to be pampered and would like to use more of the hotel facilities rather than submerge yourself in the town's charm.

This is the best hotel in Mexico according to Conde Nast magazine. Room was huge with wooden floors and wooden beams in the ceiling. Bathroom was big with a separate shower and toilet and a jacuzzi bath. Hotel is only 2 years old and it shows. Craftsmanship, attention to detail, service were impeccable. Hotel is full of art pieces and they have an art gallery in the basement. Three pools including one for kids. My only complaint is that the pools were shallow. Attached residencies next to the hotel. Kids club. Staff goes out of their way to help and assist. Hotel built in the hacienda style with warm pleasing colors and a genereous usage of wood. Our room came with a big balcony. Fitness center was well stocked. The hotel also had a spa which we did not use. Main restaurant 1826 was used by us for breakfast. They have a tequilla bar, a poolside food service and a Luna restaurant on the roof with great views of the town. Overall a beautiful property. It is pricey but if you find a week when they have promotions it is worth the price. I would definitely return and recommend this hotel to anyone who is interested in visiting San Miguel. Definitely the best hotel in San Miguel. Two thumbs up.

Room Tip: Get a higher floor if possible.

We spent last weekend at the Rosewood San Miguel de Allende for our first anniversay, and it was a incredible experience. From the moment you get to the valet, they make you feel at home, check in is hassle free. When we got to our room our luggage was there and our host Renate explained every little detail.
We spent the afternoon at the pool, beautiful place. At Agua bar (pool) I had the only problem, they charged me for a more expensive tequila that the one I ordered, and they told me it was the same price, and it wasn´t, a big mistake for a hotel like this.
Then we went to Luna bar, it has the most spectacular view of San Miguel and its cathedral.
We met Carlos Adame, manager and made us feel really special for our anniversary, when we got back to our room there was a big heart made of rose petals.
At check out concierge Israel was really helpful and made the price correction for the tequila @ Agua bar.
One other little issue, they charge 200 pesos for parking, expensive for a place like San Miguel or even Mexico, and they left my car in a place where all my trunk was dirty because a drop of water all weekend long, I had to polish my car getting back to Queretaro. As a pet friendly hotel, we had a dog bark early sunday morning, this was annoying too.
Food was great, employees make you feel special all the time, what a great hotel.

Took my wonderful friend on a well deserved culinary adventure in Mexico and stayed at the Rosewood Hotel in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico, and what an adventure it was. The attention to detail that went into our package was remarkable! Trip to a beautiful organic farm for the two of us with the executive chef, Victor... Fun, informative, beautiful, more than I could have asked for. This was followed by a cooking lesson by two of the minor chefs at he rooftop restaurant and lunch. Delicious!

Other amenities included a margarita and tapas tasting, a spa day with manicures, full body mole scrub ad 80 minute massage. I haven't been that relaxed in years. Breakfast, included in our package, was something now and different every day, especially when they prepared and off he menu specialty just for us... trying out a new offering for e menu.

Fabulous meals, shopping and beautiful architecture abound in this quaint, bustling and very safe historical Town in Mexico.

Final evening was a 5 course meal with wine pairing... introductions for each by the chef and the Sommelier from the winery offering the wine. 5 star finish.

Thank you Victor, Victor 2, Alex, Angel and the rest of the Rosewood staff for making our trip a memory to cherish!

Room Tip: We stayed on the 4th floor with a small patio overlooking back courtyard and pool beyond. Wonderful...

High level of service! Great and very roomy accommodations. Fantastic bathroom and amenities.
Nice property, even if, in reality, the building is not really "authentic"... Just a bit "traditional Mexico in Vegas"...
The Luna Roof Bar is a nice place to stay, with a great view at the old city. But the variety of drinks is not at the expected level...
The gym is simply fantastic.
Will go back there...
