Owner description: Since 2000, Coyote Canyon Adventures is offering the most exciting and highest quality family adventure tours available in San Miguel de Allende. We have half-day, full day and overnight horseback riding excursions available. Our expert cowboy guides lead you safely through working cattle ranches, into Coyote Canyon(a.k.a. Cañada de la Virgen), through its river, over its plains, across its gorges, and down its sheer cliffs, all the while sharing with you their in-depth knowledge of the native flora and fauna. Their horseback riding excursions are exciting and rugged yet can also be tailored for families with small children or for seniors who would prefer a slower pace. Or if you require a little more adrenaline you can add some rappelling at the end of your ride or hike through the canyon. If you are interested in adventure tours we can offer activities such as hot air balloons flights, ATV's tours, rappelling... We also offer the finest tours available of the archeological site named "Sitio Arqueologico Cañada de la Virgen", which is a 1600 year old pyramidal complex in the same area. And many other activities such as hot air balloons flights, ATV's tours, rappelling...

Although this was a first time for all of us, ages 10-72, we had a great experience. My husband swore we would not be zip lining in Mexico, but on the reassurance of friends we decided that try it. Our guides were David and Gustavo, and they were reassuring and knowledgable. They also put my 10 year old, who has a fear of heights, at ease. You can go with the guide or alone. The views are beautiful!

This exceeded our expectations. We are both novice horseback riders. Rodrigo was our guide and is genuinely bilingual, sounding native in both English and Spanish. His explanations on the rules for riding were excellent and we used them throughout the ride. While it was suitable for a novice, the ride through the canyon involved challenging terrain, crossing a shallow river, and the opportunity to gallop. The ride was well staffed with experienced assistants. The canyon was gorgeous, the horses well behaved, and the ride ended with an enjoyable lunch. That plus transport to and from San Miguel. I highly recommend the experience.

First of all I have to say Alberto is an extremely patient and understanding guide! My boyfriend and I had to change the pick up location last minute and even though it cut our tour a bit short, he more than made up for it with his knowledge of the city and personable nature. It was more than a walking tour, with Alberto you get a fantastic Mexican history lesson with beautiful scenery along the way! Must do when in SMA!!

Rodrigo and the Coyote Canyon Adventures staff were professional, helpful and made the experience super fun for everyone. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

My husband and I live in San Miguel and have wanted to sign up for a horse back ride since we arrived nearly two years ago. We met Rodrigo and asked if we could join one of his Coyote Adventures rides which are well known and highly regarded throughout San Miguel. He signed us up and off we went for a special Christmas Eve Day ride with a group of about 8-10 others. It was WAY better than I ever expected.

The views were absolutely stunning, the horses incredibly tame & calm as we rode through an intricate series of winding paths, creeks and then along the cliff ledges with breathtaking views overlooking the canyon. And best of all, for those who wanted it, was the opportunity to gallop the horses!

After the ride, we were treated to a wonderful traditional Mexican lunch with homeade tortillas and cheese. Absolutely delightful!

FIVE STARS EXPERIENCE ALL THE WAY.

Many ingredients go into making an adventure operator stand out above the rest. Coyote Canyon offers unique experiences that are professionally executed, but Rodrigo the owner, and Alberto, our guide at the Cañada de la Virgen archaeological site are what make this company exceptional. Rodrigo is completely bicultural and bilingual. He is fun an approachable but clearly takes his job as owner, very seriously. His appreciation for Mexico and his tours shows in everything he offers. Alberto is the best guide I have found in 40 years of travel to Mexico. He is a trained anthropologist, extremely bright, very enthusiastic, and really brought the Cañada de la Virgen site, to life. My husband is a Latin American Studies major and history buff, and Alberto could answer every question and doubt.
