Los Senderos showed great promise for us as we arrived for brunch, however, even though the restuarant was quite empty it took awhile for our party of 6 to be seated. We all asked for coffee as soon as the waiter arrived but waited a long time for it to arrive and had to ask twice for cream. As we finished our first cup, the waiter promptly removed it cutting us off from another cup (we were prepared to pay for the 2nd cup). The omelette came with fries and when I asked if the fries could be substituted for, perhaps a slice of fruit, the waiter reacted as if this were an odd request. I accepted it as is and left the fries. In a rrestaurant of this calibre the answer here should have been "sure we can do that". The wait staff seemed well-intentioned but slow and lacking in customer service skills. We all agreed that the food was tasty, but we were disappointed with the service and length of time it took to get our breakfasts and to pay our bill with credit cards. The view is spectacular though.

On March 9th, 2011 we had last visited Senderos for lunch. At the time we had a disastrously poor experience which I commented about on trip advisor.
We stayed away hoping for some change and now, a year later, after a much announced management change with new chefs: two Swedes and one Bolivian, we thought we'd give it one more chance. Unfortunately our hopes were dashed very quickly by an even more abysmal experience.

Service was attentive but the food was bad beyond belief. From an inedible and cold coq au vin presented in an earthenware crock (brought to the table twice after it was initially returned because it contained no chicken, none at all!), to a tepid risotto produced with commercial rice rather than arborio, to a charcuterie appetizer straight out of the supermarket package, their offerings are poorly conceived, and executed in an even worse manner.
The server apologized profusely and explained that this was due to the fact that the kitchen was catering a wedding at that moment. Which begs the question: why bother opening the "Bistro" to unsuspecting diners? On second thought, most local customers already know of this trap and stay away as we were one of only two tables.

It's very disappointing that this sorry excuse for a restaurant still operates in what remains a lovely setting. We recommend that management sticks to their horseback riding business and abandon their food service venture: it is clearly beyond their capabilities.

Excellent food, ambiance, view, experience.
And for animal lovers, you will also love the owner's Great Dane :)
Highly recommended!

I'm a 4 plus year resident of San Miguel so feel semi-qualified to comment on the value(overpriced by a factor of 2) and quality of service (friendly but woefully inept). The quallity of service could be excused if this was a new restaurant but after two years, they've used up all excuses.

Our reservations were for 3 PM, it was a "prix fixe" menu with three choices, the price was 550 Peso's per person and when placing our orders, we requested separate checks for each of the three couples in our party.

Our meal was not served until after 5:30 PM, then after our meal we had to wait for an additional 30 minutes for them to split the checks. The management graciously offered a 50% discount on the total check, but then decided they would only "no charge" one main course per check. Naturally the added drinks during the 2 plus hour wait more that offset this discount.

There are a number of quality restaurants in and around SMA, this just doesn't happen to be one of them.
